My contract is almost up with Verizon and I would really like to find another company who do you use? and do you like them?
TIA

Dh and I both have cell phones through Qwest because he is an employee and gets a discount.

But we are changing to T-Mobile (the new name for Voicestream) because they have a nice Family Plan for multiple phone lines and we like their coverage. The plan is $69.99 per month for the initial two lines and includes the usual extra features on the phones (Caller ID, voicemail, etc.). It includes an insane amount of minutes - can't remember the amount right now - but it was large enough to be way more than we use now between the both of us.

my friend has that plan, zulaya, it's 800 minutes (or at least that's what she got in NY). :)

I get a good rate through work with Cingular. I like their service.

I think they have a promo going right now called "your minutes" (?)

If you sign up for so many minutes a month and do not use them, you don't lose them, they carry over.

What I've found is that several of the ones offering lots of minutes are only digital networks. I use sprint, can't say that I love everything about it but it does offer true roaming with an analog signal.

I'd never needed it until this summer and I'm so glad I had a phone that worked on the road. I imagine this might be more important in ID than here.

Plans and service vary so widely around the country, binny, that what may be great in one state/city may be terrible, not available, or substantially different in another. This site is good to check any company, phone and plan anywhere. www.buyphone.com

First, a warning about Sprint. The analogue roaming referred to costs about 60 cents per minute - and it can occur within your home area in "dead" areas.

Cingular has worked out best for us. We currently have a plan which gives us 250 minutes per month and it includes long distance, to or from anywhere in the US. The cost is $29.95 per month. Of course, no matter which company you use, the quoted price does not include the MANY extra charges added on by the government. You can figure that there will be about $10 more per month added on by those charges. These charges, however, are much higher on a per minute basis, than for the "included" minutes. Cingular does have a new plan which will allow you to "roll over" the unused minutes to the next month.

An advantage to T-Mobil is that you can get International long distance for 99 cents per minute. So far, that is the only company that offers International service (I mean that you can be out of the country and use it.) Cingular says that they will soon be offering it, but I know that if they do, they will have to require that you use a triband phone, because the frequency they currently use is not compatible with that used in foreign countries.

My phone has a setting that I can turn off the analog roam so dead areas have never been a problem. My house is in a dead area so I do sometimes have trouble with connections but don't have to use analog.

Traveling there is not always a digital connection, 60 cents a minute is not a problem if it is used for emergencies. As I said I had never used it before and I've had Sprint service for about 3 years. It is something I ask about and don't want to lose with another plan. Part of the reason I have a phone is for emergencies and I can't count on needing it only within a digital area.

I haven't been thrilled with Sprint but haven't found a better option in this area yet.

I have Sprint too and to tell you the truth I haven't really had any problems. Granted there are dead zones but I have it turned off so I can't make a call.
Do you not like Verizon service? Or do you hope for a better plan? More minutes? If so make sure you call Verizon and ask to be transferred to the retention office or what ever they call it. You may have to try several times. I did it with sprint and got an excellent plan which is not being offered on TV or by regular operators. I have more prime time minutes than I will ever use!
