Best car rental location/staying @ yc

We are staying at the Yacht Club before heading over to our off-property timeshare. I know we've gotten better deals closer to our trip but Im a little taken back at the current rental rates and Im wondering if its still best to reserve and just rebook if a lower rates becomes available.

Last year we stayed at the Poly and ended up scoring a great full-size car rental for $60 (8 days) with National at the Shades of Green location. This year we are staying at the YC and I know the Dolphin has Alamo and National in there and its nearby. Right now the rates are through the roof. Has anyone rented from here before or is there a better location?

I can't answer re: best locations in the area, but I do suggest booking the lowest price you can find, and then continue to rebook every time you see the price come down. Most rental car agencies do not take your credit card information when you reserve the car and there is no risk to booking and then no actually getting the car.

As a courtesy, I usually try to let the rental car companies know if I will not be using the car I had booked, but even if someone forgets to do that s/he would still not be charged.

Right now, the best rate that I have for April 2015 is with Dollar at the Wyndham LBV (directly connected to DTD)

We're staying at the BC this September and were surprised at the high rental costs of Alamo at both the Dolphin and Car Care center. We had intended to rent a car for 6 of our 8 day stay at one of the previously mentioned places. However, it was cheaper to rent Alamo from MCO for the entire duration of our stay. We found a 1 day free code along with the 5% membership discount on a full size.

Thanks everyone for the info. In the past at around the 30 day mark Ive found the best rate, but I guess I will just need to be patient. I plan on booking something this week out of the Dolphin (just to have a reservation) and I can go from there. Thank you!
