Best Car Rent at MCO

Hi

We're arriving at MCO on June 1 and departing June 7. We would like a car for our entire stay. Which companies are the best? Which have the best rates? We are 2 adults and a 16 yr. old. Anything you know is greatly appreciated. Since it is almost a week would the weekly rates be best? Please help!!

We love Hertz. It is offsite but there are always shuttles outside ready to take you the few miles to the lot. Do you have AAA? They offer pretty good discounts

Many folks like National/Alamo at the airport. www.mousesavers.com has some codes you can use to lower your cost.

For the amt of days that you are renting it will probably figure it at the weekly rate.

I have used National, Budget and Dollar. I look for the best rate and who is doubling my sky miles, since the cars are basically comparable. It all depends upon when you are going and the inventory at the time of the rental company. Sometimes you might get the best rate with Budget, using codes, coupons, etc. Other times, National may be your best bed. For the time we are going, Dollar had by far the best rates. I called National because DS is going and he is a Vanguard employee. Dollar still beat National even with the employee discount. The reason? They have a lower inventory left for that time period. Try checking on Orbitz or Expedia to see who has the lowest rate and then go to the individual web sites to tweek it with codes and coupons.

If I wanted to use AAA would I have to call the rental company? There is no space for my AAA # on any websites.

Hertz gives AAA discounts. I don't think they do it for other car rental companies.

Isn't Hertz a pain when returning to the airport however. I like to drop the kids off with the luggage then return the car and be at the airport.

I do curbside check in with the luggage and then take the car to the Hertz lot and take the shuttle back. Usually only takes about 15 mins.

Budget, National, Dollar, Thrifty, L&M (usually good rates, more consumer complaints), Avis. If you go onto one of the travel sites, Orbitz or Expedia, it will detail if they are on site at the airport or not.

I've had most luck finding good rates, good cars and overall good experences with National (On-Site), Alamo (On-Site), and Budget (On-Site). On the other hand ive had bad experiences with Hertz (Off-Site) Thrifty (Off-Site) and Enterprise (Off-Site)

I would try National and Budget with the discounts from mousesavers.com. They seem to be cheapest!

I've always used National. My last few trips I only paid around $110 total for the week. I have a reservation for next Saturday - Friday for $100.41, full size emerald reserve, used priceless code w/$20 entertainment coupon. They are very easy to get to, just go down to level one of the airport and cross the street.
