Increadable I know, but for November, for a 4X4 Hertz direct came out tyhe cheapest!

All inclusive prices were as follows:
Two weeks

Hertz £377.64
Dollar UK £578
Alamo UK £468.57
Airline Network £421
National £388.49
Holiday Autos £382.40

Have you tried uscarhire.co.uk ? I used them on a reccomendation from some other DISers for my Xmas holiday last year and they beat their nearest rival by £40.

Really pleased with the service and they are a company that has been around a fair amount of time, not one of these fly-by-night places! Worth a look, you never know!

we using them in aug using alamo

That's more expensive than the rate I have with Hertz direct. (386.55 compared to £377.64)

the Hertz deal does include all taxes and surcharges the same as yescarhire.

Allie5
yes, UScarhire do beat Hertz (£352 compared with £377.64)

The other advantage for me at any rate is that as a Hertz No1 gold card holder, I just go straight to the bay and pick the car up, no queuing or waiting in line.
(I wish alamo had the same system, as they are my preferred supplier, I like to choose my car from the ones available in the section) :)

once bitten twice shy as i pionted out about the insurance one i booked with hertz direct and ended pay an extra $100.00 always check that sli cdw are included

just checked up on the hertz site the 376.64 is for only one driver and no tank of feul so you should compare it to the standard insurance from yescarhire which 364.5 making yes cheaper by 12.14

Paulh

I have to admit that, when looking into car hire, I get confused as to whether the rate covers all the insurance needed! :confused3
I, too, thought I'd found a good price with Hertz - til I added on the extras which almost doubled the quote!
Maybe I was adding on unecessary extras? I'm not sure.
I'm going to have to work it all out before we need to book ;)

oh really? (Sarcasm) Oh very good by the way "carfully" very drole, unles that was you not being very "carful".
I would rather pay the extra £13.14 i.e. a HUGE £.94p per day to know that the car will be there and that I do not have to stand around for an hour waiting to collect my car, which will only be a few months old rather than a year old clunker.

Alsion,
Onn the Hertz web site when you put in you are coming from the UK it does give you the all inclusive rate.
Loss damage waiver and Collision Damage waiver are the same thing, it is confusing when different companies use different names for the same product.
All taxes are to be included. You do not need personal accident insurance as you should have that coverage on your holiday insurance.
The only things you might need to add are a child seat (though its cheaper to take your own or buy one out there for the holiday) and for extra drivers

So, anyone?
Do you think I may have been adding on unecessary extras? :confused3
With the 'Nectar' discount, and signing in with my Hertz Gold membership, the car came out at about £400 for three weeks.
When I added on SLI etc it came out at about £850!
Surely that's not right?
