we might be going on the fantasy for a 7 night cruise to the carribean does anyone that has been on the fantasy have a cabin that they really like and in a perfect spot and there favorite deck.

this will be are first cruise and not sure what is the best room and deck to get so if anyone can suggest a perfect room and deck that they have loved please share thank you.

It depends on what type of room you want. If possible, it's best to have other staterooms above and below you. If you want a verandah, then Decks 7, 8, and 9 are good choices, since they have staterooms both above and below. The same is true of much of Deck 6. Be careful with Deck 10, since much of it has the lido deck or the buffet above. If you want a larger than normal verandah, you can book a Cat. 4E room on Deck 5. Unlike Cat. 4A - 4D, these rooms are normal sized, but have larger verandahs. If you tell us more about what type of room you want, we can help you further.

thank you for your replies and information we would like to stay in a room with a balacony or a deluxe ocean stateroom with a large porthole. to sleep 4 people 2 adults and 2 child. I hear don't get a room next to the elevator.

I don't know of any other information you need so let me know what else you need to know to help me pick out the right room , we were thinking of staying on either deck 7 or 8.

As I said, Decks 7 and 8 are both good choices if you want a balcony. You are right that it's probably best to stay away from the elevator. In general, a room close to midship is best, since there is less motion, and you will be more conveniently located. The catch is that the midship rooms are all Cat. 4x (x is A, B, C, or D, depending on the deck), which are larger and more expensive. I assume you are looking for the standard sized rooms, which are Cat. 5x (x is A, B, C, or D, depending on the deck), which are forward and aft. So try to get a room as close to midship as possible, if that is what you want.

Also, lower decks have less motion than higher decks. But the difference between Deck 7 and 8 would be negligible. Deck 7 puts you one deck closer to the indoor facilities, while Deck 8 puts you one deck closer to the lido deck and the buffet. But again, both are centrally located that the difference really is negligible.

If you want a room with porthole windows (rather than a verandah), the vast majority of those rooms are on Deck 2. The one problem with Deck 2 is that the deck plans don't tell you what is below, so you are taking a gamble. People who have stayed on that deck can tell you what specific rooms are quiet, and which ones to avoid.

Good luck. Did I answer your questions? Any other questions? Hope I helped.

We've done a deluxe family oceanview with the large porthole on both decks 7 and 8 both forward (these are located forward and towards the rear) and next time are doing mid-ship deluxe family with a veranda sticking to deck 8, which we find a good compromise in walking up or down when not using the elevators.

You will get as many opinions as people replying about the best location on the ship (read the stateroom reviews) but we've chosen a deluxe veranda this time to be as close to mid-ship as possible for being forward the last two times, we did notice the ships motion. Walking the corridors one does notice more vibration in the rear (whether this translates to noise in the cabins I do not know) than you notice in the bow or mid-ship.

We loved our cat 6B - aft verandah cabins on deck 5. 5190/5192
Was also nice to have the laundry right there.

We have kids so loved being on the same level as the kids club and nursery.

I am a verandah snob though, and I love the extended balconies!

Definitely decide what your priorities are - reducing noise, reducing motion, balcony size, proximitiy to various features on the ship... etc. Budget may help you choose a category. For us, 6B was the least expensive cabin with verandah, so we started there. That will help you narrow it down!

I think you will get a lot of different answers to this question. We like staying aft, 8th or 9th deck. We also like the 7a rooms (not all of them though). It is close enough to Cabanas and the pool deck and drink station.

Also we stay near the elevators and have never had a problem with noise or anything. I guess you might if you are near the midship elevators. They are the busiest. I doubt it is a problem there either though.

We do like the large porthole rooms. The window seat is a nice place to spend some time.

If you get a "family" category room you will also have the round tub and rain shower head.

Also some people like starboard v/s port side for various reasons but nothing that will make or break your trip. Ex. CC is visible out your window starboard side. Going south the moon will be out your starboard window, but portside coming back. Also true for sunrises or sunsets. Fireworks go off starboard side. And the list goes on...

We like veranda rooms on deck 9. We have stayed both forward and aft and both are fine.
We had room 10656 on deck 10 once and asked to be moved. The machine that cleans the balconies is parked to the right of the balcony obstructing your view in that direction. I know that it is not there "all" of the time but we were told by our cabin attendant that was where it stayed most of the time.

A cat. 4 might be better than a 5 just because the room is a little bigger and has the round tub. I don't know much about the cat. 5's with the oversized verandah. It also depends on if the rooms are forward, midship or aft.

As the numbers get lower 7,6,5,4 the categories improve = higher cost. Higher cost is associated with 1) more sq foot or 2) better perceived location on board or 3) combination of things

On one deck there may be many different categories available (be sure to look at deck plans)
4>5
Within a Number there are subcategories
4A>4C

Others can better explain the precise differences in each category you are considering. Happy planning!

I think you will get a lot of different answers to this question. We like staying aft, 8th or 9th deck. We also like the 7a rooms (not all of them though). It is close enough to Cabanas and the pool deck and drink station.

One thing to clarify: although Disney refers to 7A as "Navigator's Verandahs", they are not actually Navigator's Verandahs (they only exist on the Wonder and Magic). On the Dream and Fantasy. Cat. 7A is a regular verandah that either has an obstructed view or is undersized. Every one is different. So, before you book one, read reviews and read posts on this board about the specific room that you are considering.

Also we stay near the elevators and have never had a problem with noise or anything. I guess you might if you are near the midship elevators. They are the busiest. I doubt it is a problem there either though.

One other quirk about elevators on this ship: the midship and forward elevators are very close to each other, but the midship and aft elevators are far apart. So being aft puts you very far from the midship elevator.

We do like the large porthole rooms. The window seat is a nice place to spend some time.

If you get a "family" category room you will also have the round tub and rain shower head.

I'm not sure if the Cat. 4E rooms have the round tub and rain shower head since they were originally designated Cat. 5E, but were upgraded due to the large verandah. Cat. 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D probably have the round tub and rain shower head. What about 8A, 8B, 8C, and 8D?

We like veranda rooms on deck 9. We have stayed both forward and aft and both are fine.

I know that it is not there "all" of the time but we were told by our cabin attendant that was where it stayed most of the time.

What other rooms have that machine? Is that only on Deck 10? What about on the other side of the ship? We really need a thread that has a list of rooms to avoid.

A balcony and a verandah are the same thing. Obviously oversized is bigger. All other things being equal, oversized is "better".

5c deck7 with private verandah

05b deck8

The only difference between 5C and 5B is the deck, 7 vs 8, as you said. The 5B will be slightly more expensive, have slightly more motion, be slightly closer to the lido deck and buffet, but slightly further from the indoor venues and gangways, and have a slightly better view. Honestly, the difference is negligible, so I'd recommend choosing based on the specific rooms that are available, which ones are in better locations, rather than the deck and category, since there really is not much difference.

deck 6 04d

Cat. 4D (and 4A, 4B, and 4C, but not 4E) are larger rooms than the Cat. 5x rooms, but are also more expensive. It's up to you whether or not you need the space and whether or not the extra cost is worth it. They are midship, but it's probably not worth the extra cost just to be midship if you don't need the larger room.

dec 5 oversized private verandah

I assume you are referring to Cat. 4E. Those are the same size as the Cat. 5x rooms, but have a larger verandah. They are obviously more expensive than the Cat. 5x rooms.

which is the better choice.
thank you everyone for all your input:flower3:

Again, which room is "better" depends on your needs, your preferences, and your budget.

The OP didn't mention the Cat. 5's with the oversized verandah, but I assume you are referring to the Cat. 5E rooms. These are facing aft on Decks 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. I don't know much about those rooms either, but they seem to have a following. Not sure I'd recommend one for your first cruise, since you probably want to be closer to midship.

Everything that you said is correct. I posted a link earlier which explains the precise differences between categories. I'll post it again here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3231583

Also, as mama2mickeyfans said, higher cost categories are often due to a better perceived location, which does not mean that higher is necessarily better. For example, they would not downgrade a category due to proximity to a nightclub, even though the noise would make such a room undesirable. Also, they charge extra for higher decks, even though higher decks are not necessarily more desirable. For example, much of Deck 10 puts you directly below the lido deck or buffet. I would rather be in a quieter location, even on a lower deck. A higher deck puts you closer to some facilities but further from others.

We prefer being closer to the aft elevators than anywhere else on ship. You can easily get up to cabanas for extra drinks (or food) easy to get to Animators, Palo, and Remy. Not to mention the sports deck and adult only spaces. We didn't spend much time in either theater in October so being near those and the adult sun deck didn't really matter.

thank you for the link of the cabin report list

so if i pick cabin o5c deck 7 it says it has plexiglas oversized balcanies facing aft with white wall. is this midship or and the end by the aft.

Cat. 5C is on Deck 7, but it does not have the oversized balcony, nor does it have a white wall.
