Our DS will almost be 2 when we go in Dec. The more I read about BWV, the more I get concerned about the noise (although some say it's not bad).

Doing a 1br. Should we avoid preferred view? What would be a good area to request so our light sleeper can go to bed with limited distractions. I'm hoping there's a tradeoff (quiet pref view area) because we were hoping to do a preferred view, esp of Illuminations. We've been dying to see it, but DS can't stay up that late yet.

TIA

You could request a Garden View room. The noise is mostly associated with the Boardwalk View (which you will not have) or the pool view.

I wouldn't count on seeing Illuminations, though. The Preferred View rooms are on the opposite side of the resort. You can see illuminations from the Boardwalk View room, and a few of the Standard View rooms.

A few of the Preferred View rooms face toward MGM and you might see Fantasmic in the distance, but that show is a little short on high-level pyrotechnics.

We were there last Dec with our (3 yr old) DDs & were also concerned about the noise before we arrived, but it was wonderfully quiet. We were lucky enough to get a ded 1BR with a preferred view overlooking the pool & we could also see the canal.
We enjoyed watching the boats going to MGM, watching the early morning walkers to see whether the people in jackets or shorts looked the most comfortable (the temps changed a lot during our stay), and just sitting on the balcony soaking up that FL sunshine. :sunny:
We LOVED our stay & are even talking about adding on at BWV - it was one of the best vacations we ever had - hope you have a great time, too.

I am assuming that you have a Preferred View - Pool/Garden room booked. Standard view and Boardwalk view are separate booking categories. If you have one of those, it will say so on your confirmation. Unless you have one of those room categories, you will not be ale to see any portion of IllumiNations from your balcony. (I don't believe there are any 1 bedrooms overlooking the Village Green area - I think they are all studios).

I would advise you to ask for a dedicated1 bedroom (no inside connecting door to a studio) in the quiet pool/Community Hall area. IMHO, these rooms are among the quietest anywhere. Keep in mind that these rooms are quite a ways from the elevators. However, in my experience, the most bothersome noise does not come from the outside - it comes from the hallways. The closer to the elevators you are, the more of it you will hear - children running and talking, parents trying to shush them :), adults talking very loudly arouond 1 or 2 am, etc. Now I am exaggerating a bit, but you get the idea. :teeth:

FWIW, I have not personally found the noise anywhere at BWV to be a big problem - including the Boardwalk views (but you might need to keep the balcony doors shut depending where on the Boardwalk you happen to land).

Best wishes -

We just returned and had a one bedroom dedicated in 5051. Which was on the end of the Village Green overlooking the Boardwalk.(which I didn't think was a BWV but I guess it was) We could see the fireworks every night over the BWI. We were not to far from the elevators and didn't hear anything much at all. My daughter age 6 fell asleep every night at 8:00 and slept till morning. Good luck!!

We almost always stay at BWV and you should have no problem with noise. DH is a VERY light sleeper and sounds from the Boardwalk have never been an issue if the balcony doors are closed.

As to "seeing" Illuminations, you really can't see it from BWV. You can see the high shots of fireworks, but you can't hear the music or commentary, can't see the Illuminations of the various building around World Showcase, nor the portions of the show that are at the water level (fire, water fountains, laser and scenes reflected against the globe in the lake) which is considerable. Illuminations is a total experience type of show and you really can't see it from BWV.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but I hate to see you try so hard for a room that will let you see it, when that's not ging to be possible. Could DS snooze in a stroller while you watched?

BWV is our home resort and we stay there 98% of the time. As other folks have said, the Standard view rooms are the most peaceful. Also if you can stay off the first floor you can avoid having lawn mowers going past your unit in the mornings.
AS for fireworks. The second half of ROE affords a good view from the standard rooms. Wishes can be viewed quite nicely from the BoardWalk itself ( just look over the water slide at Y&B ). We've never found a good view of Fantasmic from the resort, but the walking path to MGM from BoardWalk does give a OK view of it.
Hope this helps :earsboy:

We just got back last week from BWV. We had a standard room - 3177 maybe? It was a dedicated 1 BR, right across from the bus stop. A definate plus in the eyes of any two year old in terms of entertainment value - our son LOVED watching the buses come in and take off. It was about 3 doors down from the stairs/exit, so it was easy access to the bus stop.

The only disadvantage was the trip (aka - long @## haul) to the elevator. :rotfl: Pack a lunch - you'll need it.

All kidding aside - it was a good room. Quite, dark in the morning (at least in the living room, which had an awning over the balcony), and a rather excellent view of Illuminations.

Best of luck,

Mrs. PB
