Best Buy on Thanksgiving

I avoid Black Friday like the plague and have certainly never been shopping on Thanksgiving. However, circumstances are such that I am going to try Best Buy at store opening on Thanksgiving Day to get something my son requested for Christmas at a significant discount. As of noon today, my Best Buy has two left.

I live in a relatively small southern city (greater metropolitan area population is about 200K), with one Best Buy. I plan to be there at store opening, perhaps a little before.

Will there be a ridiculous line to just get in, the way I see on television in the larger metropolitan areas? I have been to best buy on black friday many moons ago, and it was crowded but not push and shove. I just want to know what to expect for those of us who live in smaller communities. I have never seen the stampede in my town, like i have seen on tv. Should I expect one at store opening?

Our Best Buy usually has a line that wraps around the store, but I do have to say that Best Buy (at least ours) runs like a well oiled machine. Very organized, no shoving and the line goes very quickly when the store opens. Not sure what item you are looking for, but if they only have 2 left (unless there is a larger stash available specifically for Black Friday) you should probably be one of the first in line. Or you can wait till after Black Friday, I generally see sales that are just as good or better the 2 or 3 weeks leading to Christmas. I have done Black Friday once or twice, but I will never go again unless it's one of those too good to be true sales.

Your chances are pretty slim. People are camping out already. But your area could be different. Going before opening will get you in the door, but the tv''s will be gone.
If you read any consumer reports, the tv''s are not that great.

Depending on the item, you may be able to get the same deal on their website. A couple of years ago I managed to get an X-box that my husband wanted for the same 'doorbuster' price that was being offered in the store.

I can't speak for your area, but my cousin is a manager at the Best Buy in Port Huron, MI, and as of this morning there were two tents outside his store, waiting for tomorrow.

Thanks for this.

I found the item at Target today for $10 more, if I count the $30 gift card they are going to send me. I think $10 is worth the price of my time in avoiding that fiasco, and there is no doubt in my mind that I will spend $30 at target before this season is over. So, I am down to one store tomorrow, and it is a guaranteed door buster, so at least I will get a ticket to get it later, if it's not in stock.

I am planning to buy the WiiU bundle with Luigi/Mario and I am still trying to decipher when I could try to get it online...4 p.m.? 6 p.m.? Earlier? Later? Anyone have a clue on this?

Thanks!

Try now.
Try midnight.
Try midnight in the time zone where the company is headquartered.
Try 6 AM, 8 AM, noon...

Not sure what the Best Buy deal is on the Wii U but I got the same bundle with Mario & Luigi for $299 plus a $25 gift card (plus 5% redcard discount) today at my Target store.

I am seeing ALL of the deals on BestBuy.com that the guy told me about. He had been camped out in front of the store since Tue. :headache:

Best Buy puts almost everything online. I never go in the store. It's always crazy just trying to get in the parking lot. Target is crazy but never as crazy as Walmart or Best Buy.
