wow....nobody likes the buffets?:surfweb:

I'm usually not a fan of them, but just this past week we ate at alot of them on the DxDDP. We had our three y/o GS down there and did just about all the character meals, plus Cape May for dinner and Bomas for breakfast. Boma for dinner is probably my favorite buffet for both atmosphere and food though. My husband would say Cape May for dinner for food and Crystal Palace for atmosphere (but he likes the Pooh characters). In the past, dinner at 1900 Park Fare wasn't bad, but neither of us were impressed with the food there this trip.

I think for food it's Cape May. For atmosphere I think it's hard to beat Crystal Palace. Character Dining in the middle of the Magic Kingdom (atmosphere at it's finest)

We have done both Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys and enjoyed them both. Both had good variety of food, the atmosphere I would say is a little better @ Crystal Palace like last post, nothing like eating right in middle of Main Street USA and seeing the castle and any parades or shows!

I agree with this! :thumbsup2 Cape May dinner buffet had great food and very nice atmosphere, and same with Crystal Palace for breakfast (didn't care for the dinner buffet food, though).

BOMA was amazing!! Seriously, good food, and you can explore the beautiful lodge before your dinner!

I still think Chef Mickey's is the best! Overall theming, and lots of food choices. Their garlic mashed potatoes are fantastic!

Cape May for food....especially if you like seafood!

Crystal Palace for atmosphere but the food is just so/so
Chef Mickey has better food than Crystal Palace and good interaction with Characters!

Tusker House is our favorite breakfast buffet for food! Its fantastic and the atmosphere is alot of fun as well!!

We love Crystal Palace for dinner for food and atmosphere.

For family style (similar to buffet I guess) we love Ohana!!!

We tried Boma - we thought the food was terrible and the service bordered on rude and awful!

And I dont like Chef Mickey because its insanely crowded and there are birds that get in from the monorail and fly over the food area. Gross.

Best for Breakfast - toss up between Crystal Palace and Tusker House

Best for Dinner - Boma hands down. My husband and son would eat there every night of the trip if I left planning up to them.

Our family aren't big buffet fans and never go there outside of WDW. However, there are a few at WDW worth mentioning.

Boma - our favourite. We love the food and atmosphere. On top of that we love visiting AKL and their great gift shop.

Cape May Cafe - pretty good food and a nice fresh nautical atmosphere at both the restaurant and resort.

Crystal Palace - I love the atmosphere and the characters. The food is decent but unspectacular.

Our favorites are Crystal Palace and Boma for breakfast.
The Biergarten and 1900 Park Fare for dinner.

Dining Plan?
Free Dining?
or
Out of Pocket?

I really think it matters depending on your option. I have never had Free Dining or the Dining Plan - so buffets are way too expensive. I will be there for two weeks in late May. We have about 20 ADRs and we do not have any buffets (unless the Wave has a buffet for breakfast).

If I do pay for a buffet, it would be Biergarten for Lunch or Boma for Breakfast. We have enjoyed the Cape May Breakfast in the past, but now with the Credit Card requirement and price increase, we will pass.

Although I loved being in Magic Kingdom before opening for a Crystal Palace Breakfast one time, I found that venue to be the most uncomfortable and rowdy of all the character meals.

Yes they do and it's really good. Sweet Potato Pancakes, key lime Eggs Benedict, whole wheat Mickey waffles. Really good, fresh and follows the Wave philosophy.

We really like Captain's Grille buffet breakfast. If you're not into characters, you essentially get most if not all of the Cape May breakfast buffet, without the high price. Plus you can request anything off the menu to be made to order, even steak and eggs. Highly recommend.
