A friend and I are making a guys' weekend trip to the world in jan. 2012 for marathon weekend and the planning has begun! :cool1: We're looking to do the half marathon on Saturday. After completion we're going to want to hit up a good buffet that won't leave us disappointed. Make your suggestions, please!

:goodvibes

I've eaten at Crystal Palace before and enjoyed it, but not sure if I'd like it sans kids. I'm also not too keen on the idea of a character meal without my kids in tow. I've run a half marathon before, so I kind of know what to expect post-race (as in I'll be really hungry 1-2 hours after the race!). We plan on finishing in at least 3 hours and will want a chance to hit up the hotel room to get cleaned up.

I'm not sure if you're talking breakfast or lunch here. For breakfast, I would suggest Boma, hands down. But a buffet lunch, without characters? Does that even exist? :confused3

Perhaps Biergarten in Germany? That could be a fun guys meal. Lots of food, no characters, some entertainment from the band & some beers.

Buffet lunch without characters? Yes it does exist. It's Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom park.

I tried the Tusker House buffet lunch for the first time while I was at WDW in December 2010. I really enjoyed it. When I do buffets (which is rare nowadays), I always walk the perimeter first so I have a general idea of everything available. It gives me a good idea where to start, too. :goodvibes

Many people refer to it as "Boma-lite". I think there's something for everyone.

I've run the Disney marathon several times--the full marathon twice, the half 4 times and Goofy once. We ALWAYS eat 'Ohana for dinner after the race. All you can eat protein is a good thing! :thumbsup2 Good luck in the race!

Yea, we'd be going after a buffet lunch.

lots of protein sounds good to me :)

Thanks for the suggestions! Gives me a place to at least start.

We usually hit up Crystal Palace around 2:30 to get both lunch and dinner offerings.
