Pillars of the Earth
The Stand
Lucifer's Hammer
Hunger Games trilogy
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy
Memoirs of a Geisha

Every post has another book I love! How could I have forgotten Pillars of the Earth!

I don't know, it's like asking what my favorite movie is. You can't compare non-fiction with fiction, sci-fi with drama, etc.

Here's some that pop into my head, in no particular order

Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
The Shack by William P. Young
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Crime and Punishment
The Robe
Jane Eyre
To Kill A Mockingbird

So many books... so little time. I'm always on the look out for a new author or title, so I'm very interested in this thread.

Nearly every year or so I reread the Chronicles of Narnia books. Also, I loved: The Shack, To Kill a Mockingbird, Emily of New Moon series (by the same person that wrote Anne of Green Gables), A Voice in the Wind (Francine Rivers), Christy (Catherine Marshall), At Home in Mitford (the whole series - Jan Karon), and the Harry Potter series.

I have reread each of these books many times. They're like old friends!

To Kill a Mockingbird, with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Kite Runner close runners up.

A lot of my favorites have been named already so I wanted to mention a few new favorites:

-The Strain Trilogy by Chuck Hogan & Guillermo del Toro(Yes, the director) Excellent vampire novels.
-The Passage by Justin Cronin. I was listening to an interview with Stephen King & he was talking about this book & how good it was. I gave it a try & it really is good. The kind of book I would be thinking about at work. Its suppose to be a trilogy with the next book coming out this year. I cannot wait!!

My current favorite that I really love is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society.

But to choose just one is a crime.

I LOVE the Shopaholic series.
I love the older Stephen King novels and The Dome was great.
Pride and Prejudice goes with me wherever I travel now.
I fell in love with The Lakeshore Chronicle series of books.
I read the classics from time to time, too.
I love biographies and I love reading them from actresses from the 30's and 40's.
Edith Head's biography is a MUST-READ if you enjoy movies in the slightest.

I'm just so glad they invented the Kindle and hopefully more books will be available there as time goes on.

Oh boy, I read anywhere between 5 to 15 books a month. There's no way to pick one. I love reading series books. My top faves are:

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (this is like crack for me)
The Hunger Games series
The Harry Potter series
The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
The Green Mile - Stephen King

The Star-Crossed series by Rachel Higginson (Hopeless Magic, Fearless Magic, Reckless Magic)

All time Fave - Outlander Series

Although not usually a lover of paranormal, I did enjoy the first installments of the Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Series with "Acheron" being my favorite.

I also enjoyed the fun Janet Evanovich "One for the Money" series and currently I am reading JD Robb's "In Death" series and I am thinking it might rate up there with some of my favorites.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. The most amazing, moving book of my entire life.

To Kill A Mockingbird, I had to read it in 7th grade and I hated it later I re-read it and understood it more and it became a favorite.

For Children's Literature: The Wizard of Oz, Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass

Other: The Lovely Bones, I loved this book and I've read it 3 times since but it seems to get a lot of backlash and I found the book better than the movie version.

Adding a couple more to my list:

Wrestling Reality: The Life and Mind of Chris Kanyon Wrestling's Gay Superstar by Chris Kanyon and Ryan Clark

Science Friction by Michael Shermer

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins

Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

A Spell for Chameleon by Piers Anthony --- Actually the entire Xanth Series, but the first book in the series so far is my absolute favorite

Firefly by Piers Anthony

The Harry Potter series
Bag of Bones by Stephen King
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
The Mitford series by Jan Karon
the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella

The Help
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

Death In The Long Grass by Peter Hathaway Capstick

I love to read, & I've read lots of wonderful books & have lots of books on my "keeper" shelves.

However, I would probably list the following as my all-time favorite books:

Ashes in the Wind by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Redeeming Love by Francine River
the Trixie Belden series by Julie Campbell/Kathryn Kenney
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

I also really like Julie Garwood's early books, adore the Tara Janzen "Crazy" series, & like the "Shopaholic" series. Oh & romantic suspense involving special forces!

And numerous children's books!!

This is probably the hardest question I will ever be asked. :lmao:

For right now, in my given mood (because it will change!) I would say....

Adult answer - The Great Gatsby
As a kid - Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce. Her writing opened me up to new worlds, and totally gave me role models I never would have had otherwise. It got me interested in history and total confidence when I needed it most.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's favorites. A few of mine (that I can think of off the top of my head) are:

The Restoration Series (Last Light, etc.) by Terri Blackstock
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers - really anything by Francine Rivers
The Hunger Games Series
Christy by Catherine Marshall
