Best Blister Prevention for a vulnerable toe?

This sounds completely stupid but I want to know if anyone else has this problem and what is best to prevent it. I have a favorite pair of WDW shoes but since they are open toed sandals, I wasn't planning on wearing them on our trip the week before X-mas. I never get blisters in these shoes but when I wear my Nike walking tennies, I always start to develop a hot spot on my fourth toe where there is a permanent crease from the way I walk I guess. You can feel the crease, but it's not rough like a callous (sp?). This happens because of the friction when my feet sweat I think. Geez, this is embarassing and it's making me feel like a big, stinky girl and I'm not! I would really like some opinions on what would be best to prevent it from happening. Spray Deodorant, Body Glide, Socks? It's always that same spot on the one toe. Drives me crazy. I have used Mole Skin and it works pretty good but after most of the day of rubbing and/or sweating, it tends to shift. I'd just wear the sandals but I'm afraid my feet will get cold and then my whole body will be cold and I'll be miserable. Any opinions?

For SEVERAL years...I would always get blisters..even BETWEEN my toes after walking around Disney...I tried EVERYTHING...different shoes...different socks, spray deoderant....practically covering my whole feet with bandaids before I even left our resort...I must say...Body Glide (or whatever athlete stores recommend in comparison)...did the trick...My sister was amazed...So was I...I didn't have to use ANY bandaids...and I wore the same shoes most of the time....and I DO know what you are talking about when you refer to that "ridge".... pirate:

Yup Body Glide it up and you should be fine get one of the smaller travel ones if you plan on staying in the parks all day and do a reapply mid-day or so and you will have no problems at all.

If you can't find BodyGlide then Band-aid has a new product out thats suppose to be the same thing but we have not used it yet.

Where can you buy 'body glide' ?
it looks like a great product...never heard of it before..
Could save a lot of pain :thumbsup2

Drugstore.com has it .

But most high end running stores sell it.DicksSporting goods has it at some of their stores as well.

duct tape from the dollar store! stick on the places where the hot spot/friction is likeley tooccur, voila no blisters. cheaper than body glide. not mad used by ballet dancers and surfers all the time! i am sure somone will come along to confirm this!

BodyGlide is great! I used to get blisters all the time until I started using it. Works great to prevent chafing, too. I paid about $8 for it about 2 years ago and I'm still using the same container so it's certainly cost effective!

Here is the product website: http://www.bodyglide.com/skin/skin.html

Here is their "where to buy it" search page: http://direct.where2getit.com/cwc/apps/w2gi.php?template=search&client=bodyglide

We used it when racing Jetskis during the winter months . It hurt like you know what when taking it off. Maybe we should have used the Dollar store brand. :lmao:

I'm a big believer in Moleskin if you have a spot that gets blistered often. You can put it on to head off your blister.

Body Glide has my vote too! I also get a couple of hot spots (only on vacation) and asked this question. I was referred to this product and now I can actually say I swear by this product! It was wonderful! I put it on after my shower each morning and never had a problem! :cheer2:

I've used lansinoh and it works well. Of course, if you have Body Glide, that will do the trick too. But if someone is a breastfeeding mother who has that large tube of lansinoh that she's never going to get through, blister and chafing protection is a great use for it!

I was just wondering.... Can you use Body Glide w/o socks- say if you're just wearing sandals? Or does it only work w/ socks and sneakers?

Thanks :)

I didn't even notice your location info when I posted that. That link only searches for locations in the US and Canada. I hope you manage to find some!

avon used to sell a body-glide knockoff, have been using it for years:thumbsup2 .

the rings/doughnut thingies made of moleskin/whatever (you can find them in pkgs in $ stores) are great for actual blisters...really do work.

Just an fyi...my stop and shop has a 50% clearance bin, which I LOVE to check out every time I go, and yesterday they had Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel which is for chafing and blister prevention. It was 50% off!

I also swear by Bodyglide. I love it!

I also use Blistershield and I also have Avon anti-blister balm (with a peppermint smell so great for feet!).

I've been blister free for at least 5 trips now thanks to Bodyglide (and the other products I mentioned) and my Teva Pretty Rugged sandals! :cool1:

CONFIRMED!!! I'm a huge duct tape fan! DW and I used it on her feet on our last trip. The biggest trick with it is to put it on immediately when you feel the "hot spot" beginning. Honestly, make sure no one is right behind you, :scared: and put he duct tape on your hot spot. The next best tip is to make sure you wrap the duct tape so that it overlaps. If you don't do this, it won't stay put. You can't just make a duct tape patch, trust me it doesn't work.

You can go out and but the little rolls of duct tape at most hardware stores. Heck if we have them here in Canada I can almost guarantee you that you'll find them in the states!
