Please help me choose where to stay for one night between our stay at SEKI and DLR. Our must for that night will be to see a great beach sunset.

Thank you!

That really depends on weather and air quality. I prefer my sunsets to have some clouds to add some color, texture, and contrast to the sky. Air pollution also tends to create more vibrant reds. I'd say anywhere in LA would work. SEKI is inland and by the time you get south enough to get "easy" beach access, you're at Ventura or Malibu. Actually, Malibu would be nice.

I like contrast and colours too in my sunsets. Is Malibu a nice beach to take a long walk? We're used to FL beaches but it's our first time in California and we want to see the Pacific a little.

El Matador is my favorite but can be tough depending on a high tide. But if the tide is low, this is a great one - Wonderful seastacks and cool rock formations. Carbon beach is probably most like FL beaches - it's a nice 1.5 mile long beach, great for walking and wide enough that it's not affected by high tides (unless really high or stormy but then you shouldn't be on the beach). One thing you'll notice is how cold the water is compared to FL.

Malibu has nice sunsets. You can take a long walk depending on where you start and which direction, and what the tides are. You may have to go around over some rocky parts etc. but there are some intersting little sea "caves" near Leo Carillo park etc.
