Best beach and weather

Hi all, another question, as we are now around 7 months away the planning is starting to kick in.

In our group for next years trip there will be myself 28, DW 26, Mum 61, Dad 64, Sister 38, BIL 41 and Three Nieces 12, 9, 7.

So we are planning a mixed vacation catering to several different tastes - Mum & Dad more relaxing, Kids very Disney, DW and I second trip and more thirll seeking.

So anyway to my question - Mum and Dad want to go to the beach for a day. They "want to see an American Beach". We are staying in a villa about ten miles west of disney so which beach would we be best to either take them or let them drive themselves to?

Looking for somewhere maybe with a bit of shopping nearby.

Any ideas please guys???

Oh and another question that I forgot.

We will be in Florida for the last two weeks of May - what kind of weather and crowds should we be expecting?

Last time we visited was in September - how will May compare??

We will be in Florida over Memorial Day weekend -How is this likely to affect the crowds / parks?

Will we have to avoid Disney through that weekend.

Hi There,
The beaches on the west coast are much nicer.
Clearwater and St.Petes being the 2 nicest we have been to.

They are further away from the beaches on the east coast, probably a 2 hour drive , but it's worth it - they are wide and the sand white.
The shopping opportunities will be better too.

I would say generally in May the crowds will be fairly light, the weather probably in the low 80s, so not a bad time to go.

Memorial Day weekend should be much busier, depends on whether you want to have rest days from the parks then?

Another vote for Clearwater. I know they do lots of boat trips from there and there is one called the Clearwater screamer which we might try.
