best bbq at AK

Last year I went to AK and left before lunchtime. But the smell of BBQ was amazing. This time I want to be there lunch time. Any suggestions on where to go? FlameTree? Tusker? Kiosks(chicken shop)?

For actual bbq, head to Flame Tree. Tusker House is our current favorite though... the grilled salmon is really good and DD17 loves the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and fried chicken samiches. Never tried the Chakranadi Chicken Shop... the menu doesn't look very bbq-y.

Using the Meal Plus certificates have worked out well for us.

We ate at Flame Tree last year and I have to say, it was one of the best meals we had all vacation! We had 4 children under age 5 and didn't do any fancy sit down meals, and of the counter service places, Flame Tree won the absolute most votes! Good value for the price, and we sat out in the back garden which was great with the kids. My family can't wait to go there again!

For bbq, Flame Tree is great. You're right that it smells amazing right before lunchtime! We've enjoyed a couple meals there, and the seating down by the river is relaxing and picturesque. Can't wait to go there again!

We finally tried FlameTree last week and loved it so much that we returned later in the week. Make sure you order a basket of fries to go with it! The seasoning is great. We tried the ribs, the chicken sandwich and my DS had the baked chicken wings. It was all fantastic!
