I have a rewards CC from my bank (USAA) that I make all my purchases on. I figured it out-if I take the cash back option it works out to 1% back. I get half as many points using my debit card so that would get me .5% back. I was just wondering what rewards programs were out there that people use.

There used to be quite a few rewards-based programs out there in the banking world.

Ever since Washington came-down on the banking industry, as a whole, most of those programs have since disappeared, or they are not signing-up new customers.

Best advice is to stick with what USAA has...

I got a Chase Freedom Visa a few months ago. They were having a promotion where you'd get a $100 bonus after using the card to make $500 in purchases w/in the first 3 months opening the account.

I earn 1 point for each $1 spent + since I am already a Chase customer I get another 10% (or .10 point) for each dollar spent + 10 points for each purchase made. Also, each quarter there are bonus categories where you earn 5 points for each $1 spent. The categories for Apr-Jun are home improvement stores, lawn & garden and furniture.

1,000 points = $10.00 cash reward, 2,000 points = $20.00 cash reward, and so on.

I use this card for everything I can. On my last billing cycle I earned 11,000 points (= $110 cash reward). I had to buy a new water heater in June so that purchase was at the 5 points/$1 spent since it was purchased at a home improvement store....that really helped rack up the points!
