Planning a trip with my immediate family of 3 (we usually stay in a 1BR), and going to take Grandma and Great-Aunt (her sis-in-law), for a total of 5 of us. Not interested in all jamming into a studio or anything, we want to spread out a bit. Our home resort is Polynesian, but debating somewhere a bit cheaper on the points chart to save some points for more trips. It would likely be a 4 or 5 night stay over MLK weekend 2027.

What are your favorite multi-family/generational setups based on bang-for-buck (pts)? Thinking privacy, multiple bathrooms, lock-offs, space, ease of walking to transport (we typically aren't big on buses), etc.

I would look at Bay Lake Tower or maybe Riviera. BLT you can walk to MK and monorail to Epcot. Riviera doesn't have a low points chart, but it's lower than Poly and the Skyliner makes it easy to get to Studios and Epcot - but check to make sure the Skyliner isn't down for refurbishment when you go. They typically take it down for maintenance in January.

Bay Lake Tower is a solid pick, as it gets you a 3rd bathroom and obviously the walking distance to MK/monorail to MK and Epcot.

AKV Kidani are nice as well because they also have the 3rd bathroom and if you're willing to forgo the Savana view you can save some points. You said you aren't big on buses, but we've never really had any bus issues at AKV.

If you're looking for absolute best bang for the buck (points), Old Key West 2 bedrooms are the way to go. Yes, you only have 2 bathrooms, but they are INCREDIBLY spacious villas. If you're able to book into the Hospitality House category, even better!

If you go BLT, go two bedroom dedicated, in order to get three regular beds, a murphy full bed, and a fold down twin. You'll lose a regular bed if you go two bedroom lock-off.

The 3 bedrooms are amazing, but the number of points are crazy. You really don't need that with only five people.

Best bang for your points for larger rooms is usually OKW 2 or 3 bedroom. Some don’t like OKW due to bus transportation and distance to parks. SSR is next best bang for your points then AKV/L. These two also have just bus transportation to and from parks. RIV standard view rooms go quickly before 7 months, same with BLT standard view.

Careful with OKW and elderly travelers, some buildings don’t have elevators.
If you specifically ask for a HA Grand Villa at OKW, you have a 2/3 chance of being in a building with an elevator right by the Hospitality House. We were fortunate enough to get that, and it was a family experience I won't forget.

Best points price with elevator is SSR. Lots of walking

BLT more points but very roomy with 3 bathrooms. So much to do and see being at a monrail resort.

I love Rivera, the main area is huge, but points are a lot. Great place for older folks, its easy to get everywhere not a lot of walking. Plus the Skyliner!!!

Good Luck!

Agreed, I think I'm leaning towards a 2BR Lockoff at BLT (assuming I can grab it at 7 months). We stayed in a 1BR at BLT a couple months back and loved the size and extra full bathroom. I would entertain a split stay at BCV or BWV for the ease of EPCOT access, but probably only 2 nights there. We've stayed in 1BR villas at BCV a lot and that bathroom drives me crazy. :crazy2:

If you’re looking for a combo of park convenience, tolerable point usage, and availability for 4-5 nights MLK weekend, a good target is BLT 2BR preferred view. First of all it has the coolness factor. 2BRs aren’t cheap so I think it’s worth getting something ‘exciting’. You’ll have a beautiful kitchen/dining area with huge window that very likely offers a gorgeous view, plus both bedrooms will have a balcony. Just came off hard refurb so should still be very good condition, and they did a lovely job. 3 full bathrooms. Walkable to MK and even though getting to the EP monorail isn’t exactly convenient, it sure beats taking another bus somewhere lol. And it’s one of the easier 7m bookings for 2BR in MK or EP resort. 4nts 186pts; 5nts 229pts.

RIV is also a great choice but if resort view is already taken, preferred view is ~50pts than the above ^

I would get 2 studios at BLt, or.... 2 studios, which no one thinks of, is boulder ridge, on a ground floor. because people can stay indoors, meet up in the public space, take up one of the public rooms for space to get away from each other. Possibly same with beach club villas.

Wil the olders want to move I mean, c'mon, that is hard and not a vacation for older people.
