I was wondering if anyone has advice on the best type of bag to use on the back of an ECV. I want to put one on the back of the seat. I am worried about the bag constantly sliding down and dragging behind without me knowing it. Has anyone come up with some sort of way to prevent this from happening or the best bag to use.

I am renting a scooter from Randy's Mobility.

I just use a backpack. I have never had a problem with the straps sliding off, and it is easy to grab and go to get on a ride and to slide it back on when I get back.

I also use one of those string backpacks to pack all of our raincoats in and then pulled the strings to one side and slid it all the way over the back of the seat to the actual seat part so the bag is hanging sideways. It is sort of like an ECV seat fanny pack! I just leave that one there so the raincoats are always available. And if you need a backrest you can just pull it around to the front.

ETA, if you are really concerned about a backpack sliding off you could get a hiking style one that has a strap that goes across the chest and latches and use that to further secure it on the seat

Lovetoscrap I did try that with the small strap backpack but it did slide off at times when I had it to the side. A backpack sounds like the best idea. It would be just to put misc stuff in and to leave on the scooter when we are in a show or such. That way if it is stolen it wouldnt be a real loss to me.

I guess the strings on mine are probably short-- it really doesn't hang down at all, it stays at the same level as the seat. They make those things in all different sizes.

I use a backpack with two-inch wide straps that meet at the top center.

I slip the straps over the back of the seat and have never had any problem.

I use a back pack too. Never had an issue with it falling off.

My packpack had the straps much wider apart and therefore it is obvious to me why they are falling off now. Guess it is time to go buy a new packpack. I didnt want a new one just and old used one so if it were to get stolen while we had parked the ECV it wouldnt be that big of a loss.

Don't buy a new back pack, just fashion some sort of strap to go between the two backpack straps and pull them in closer. You could use one of those type with a clip that you find in the camping section of stores and then fasten that in the front of the seat. Your backpack won't go anywhere without you taking it off this way. Easy fix for under $5.

We don't take any chances and we use bungi cords (comes in different lengths with the hooks to secure the backpack even more. You can use chains, too. Dog tie downs for puppies is another way. There are many kinds of straps that you can get that will work, as well. Now, this will protrude on the back of your seat touching your back. The way we do it we can secure a lock on the side back straps; so, noone can take it; unless, they had scissors to cut the straps.

I sure like that idea of using a plastic tie to secure it on. I did buy a new backpack and got it on sale for $5. Can't beat clearance.

I am now looking for straps around my house. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for this thread and a special thanks to Cheshire Figment for the photos. We may need to rent an ECV for my husband in December. He's been battling vertigo since July and has had two hospital stays, the second one lasted 12 days (as they discovered other issues that are now under control.) He's only been home 3 days and his stamina is pretty low right now. With the Scopolamine patch on he is now able to function pretty well but we don't know if he'll be up to all that Disney walking in just 7 weeks.
