From what I understand it's a portion of the brain where the seizures activity is. As long as all the seizures come from the same section of the brain, that is. If they are scattered from various portions they can't do a thing. Now the problem is he's had this before and he's had the surgery where they removed the portion of his brain that supposedly was causing the seizures. After that surgery his seizures got much worse and he's lost a portion of his memory. Now I'm scared that if they do this again and take even more brain tissue / cells and it doesn't work again what else will he lose? I just want this to work and then it is worth the risks. He has to be awake during any brain surgery so they can ask him questions, he was last time too, they need to ask him to speak, they quiz him about things, ask him to move an arm a leg, etc. That way they know they aren't messing with a portion of the brain he can not do without.

That's so scary! I don't know how you do it. He's a strong man to be going through this. They should have gotten it right the first time.

I know its not the same thing, but I can remember watching "ER" when Dr. Green had the brain tumor and they had to do the surgery on him when he was awake for the same reasons. I think its amazing that they can do that, but so scary for the person that actually has to go through it.

That's so scary! I don't know how you do it. He's a strong man to be going through this. They should have gotten it right the first time.

I know, I don't think I personally could do that and then I think my own son is going through that and it just scares me so much. I can't imagine how it would be to hear that noise of the saw to open his kill and feel someone touching your actual brain! He is very brave but as he said he doesn't care what they do to him or what he has to go through as long as he can finally get the seizures to stop and begin to have a normal life. I pray so hard that it works for him. I think if it doesn't work again he'll get so depressed that he'll never get over it.

Oh I know that, I saw where they opened him up before, right along the hairline behind his ear and down to the bottom of his hairline, can't even see the scar and they only work on that portion of the brain. Thank God not like the operation I saw on Discovery Health, won't go into those details on here, that would be TMI.

Just want him to be all right.
