Best and Worst Value for TS credits (a math exercise)

could you please forward copy of the spreadsheet

Also a bit of a math geek, and have an 11 yr old picky eater, other than the character dinners, I wanted to justify the cost.

Thanks

We're on the dining plan for this July, and staying 5 nights. However, we have 7 TS meals in total. We are paying OOP for the 2 breakfasts and using the dining plan for the dinners. I also love doing the math for these things. Excited too, because according to your original post above, 3 of my places are a good value (1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, LTT--all for dinner).

The way I calculated things, this dining plan is saving us over $100 throughout the course of our trip. Remember, the dining plan also includes tax so all you have to pay OOP when using a TS from the dining plan is tip. The prices on the menus here do not include tax so it must first be added before seeing how much you truly save by using the dining plan. Now, as others have posted on these boards before, if places you would have eaten when paying OOP would have cost you less without the dining plan, and you are only eating at the more expensive restaurants just because you have the dining plan, it is not truly "saving" you money. But perhaps it is enabling you to afford what you normally would not be able to afford but really want, by having the plan. Such is the case with us. We all wanted to go to a lot of character meals anyway, and when we saw that we could afford it by doing the dining plan, we went for it. We need to eat lunch while at the parks anyway so the CS meals are covered too.

Now, how about the best values and worst values for CS? The best CS value I have found anywhere in looking at the menus was at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot. Can't remember any others off the top of my head, but I love the type of food they serve at the restaurant in Morocco and it is a change from burgers and fries, so I am looking forward to it!

Best snack values? Anything close to $4!

I like Cosmic Rays in the MK for a good CS Value! And the food is actually good! Roasted chicken, ribs, sandwiches etc... Definitely my favorite place because we can make everyone happy in one building instead of running to 3 different CS locations.

Okay, we will definitely check out Cosmic Ray's. I did see that one on wdwinfo.com and liked the variety. This one has indoor tables too, right? That would be an added bonus.

What about Flametree BBQ in AK? AK seems to really lack in CS options. Actually considering just getting something at the hotel food court that day for lunch, or maybe at the Boardwalk or something. Only fear is that the kids will fall asleep in the car on the way back! They tend to do that anyway, and after an exhausting morning at a hot theme park in July, I am sure they will go right out as soon as the car starts moving! How is Flametree? What about the new Yak & Yeti CS? It looks pretty decent.

What is the best CS value in the Studios? They also seem to be lacking in that department. Maybe just take a walk to the boardwalk that day for lunch? Good options there?

I'll love a copy as well but my computer doesn't have an excel program so i'm not able to open stuff that's programed in it

Believe it or not there is a free alternative. OpenOffice is a complete office suite that is compatible for the most part with Microft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). No ads or any funny business, it is completely free.

Another free option is Google Docs http://docs.google.com. Google Docs allows you to open Excel and Word files in a browser window. I have had some issues with tricky documents but it might be worth a shot.

I just booked a reservation for Oct. 2008, and am considering the DDP for 2adults, 1x8-year, 1x2-year old (he'll be turning 3 while we are there, so we would just share with him or do OOP)

Could you send me a copy of the sheet please.

Thanks.

I thought about doing this...but that's is far as my brain would go! Great information. Thanks for sharing!

this was on my to-do list before our upcoming trip on 4/30/08. Thanks. I'd be curious about Artist Point as I'm holding a party for EIGHTEEN :scared1: & trying to determine if we should all "save" our TS to go "toward" the total dinner cost or if we're better off burning that at LeCellier and Narcossee's etc.

I'll PM you - a man after my own heart. Exactly what I was planning to do.
now here's some pixie dust for you and your family... :cutie: :wizard: :pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

can someone email me a copy to (please delete the double zeros) 00agentxr11(at)aol(dot)com

Artist Point is not a bad value ($20 per credit as opposed to the average of $21 per credit). However, you will credit better value at Le Cellier ($30 per credit) or Narcoosee's ($22 per credit), but please remember that Narcoosee's is a 2 credit meal and Le Cellier is only 1.

I would love a copy as well for my April 2008 trip. We are doing DP but haven't made our reservations yet. I am new so can't PM. If someone wouldn't mind emailing me, I would really appreciate it.

If you get the surf and turf at Narcoosee's it is a very good value. At $58 a pop plus the $7-$8 dessert it comes to about $33 per credit. And the surf and turf are very good. The Lobster Tail and Filet Mignon with potato gratin and green peppercorn brandy sauce are very good.
