Looking for feedback on what you think is the best thing about touring wdw solo and what the most awkward moments are. What do you do to try to get over the awkward moments? :earsgirl:

In 90 day I will be on my 6th solo trip to WDW. It is only slightly awkward when I'm dining alone. I keep my tiny notebook with me, and my park map for THAT day, and it helps a lot. I just get busy making notes or writing poetry, and I'm OK. I don't even bother to do any of the night life at Downtown or Pleasure island. By the time I am finished with a busy park day, I just want to rest in my room. Other than that, I am quite comfortable on my solo trips. I'll bet you will be, too !

I have been to Disney twice by myself and both times I had fun. It is definately a different experience then going with other people. You get to do what you want to do, when you want to do it. Plus you get to do a lot of people watching. Which can actually sometimes be scary!
The only time I got lonely was when I was eating, so I tended to do the grab and go thing. Other then that I was totally fine being by myself. Don't worry, you'll have a great time! ::MickeyMo

Best part? Feeling like a big kid with Disney World at your fingertips. It's literally my childhood fantasy come true. :)

Worst part? Not really a bad part for me. I've got a cell phone with a nationwide plan, so when I feel like sharing a moment with someone I give one of my friends a call (love to say, "Guess where I am?" and try to make them figure out where in the World I am LOL).

Dining solo doesn't bother me a bit - but then again, I always bring a small notebook and park maps, etc. - not to make me more comfortable, but because it's my nature. Usually just by the time I get into something the food comes, hehe.

The only thing that has ever been even the tiniest issue is a few rides. I once had someone on ToT say to me, "I guess you are a member of our family now", and NOT in a nice way. Hard to describe, but he wasn't pleased I was going to be in his row - which I found silly since ToT is a group ride anyway.

However, experiences like that are very few and far between. I find that if you are walking around with a genuine smile on your face (as I always am at WDW), no one gives you any notice. I see how it's not for some people, but man - my last trip and my next trip are family trips, and I'm already itching to go back again after solo just so I can relax. ;)

The best part is not having to do everything by 'committee'. You can do what you want when you want, skip those things you don't care for and do ToT over and over and over :goodvibes . I haven't experienced a bad side to traveling solo. Dining has never been awkward, I always find someoen to chit chat with so I don't feel 'lonely'. It's alwasy been a great experience.

In 2 days I'll be on my next solo WDW adventure. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Or the opposite....Having a bunch of strangers surround you and tell the CM that you are a part of their family so they can get on a ride through a special entrance....
Haha...didn't work...I winked at the CM and he cut me out of the group and sent them on their way.... :cool1:

:earseek: Good for you!! I hope they didn't seriously think they were going to get in that way.

I generally prefer traveling with husbear and/or a small group of friends. I've done solo a couple times and the only time it feels awkward for me is getting put with someone on a 'not a group' ride (omnimover). Generally OK, but just that little awkward moment at the head of the line. I've always been a people watcher and a book reader, so dining solo or hanging out solo has never been an issue for me. Human behavior is an amazing (and apalling) thing to observe!

Love getting to make all of the decisions with no arguments and/or whining (well, I occasionally whine, but since I'm whining to literally no one, there's no one to get mad about it). If I want Dumbos, I ride Dumbos. If I want high tea at the GF, I get high tea.

Don't love that as comfortable as I am at WDW, there are still some things I don't really want to do alone. So, I end up wanting to go to the Adventurer's Club, but not wanting to go alone. Actually, the AC is the only club I've ever been to on PI, because on my one and only trip there, it was late and my friend was on some serious "no drinky, but knocks you out without it, anyway" medication. We probably shouldn't have gone at all. Similarly, I have not eaten at 50s Primetime Cafe because I don't want to eat there alone. I've been dying to go there, too.

ETA: I almost forgot, another thing I don't love- knowing that unless I borrow someone else's spouse and children, I may never get to be one of the opening families.

Dining alone gets easier the more solo trips you take. So that just means you have to go solo LOTS of times! On my latest solo trip, my 7th, I actually preferred TS dining to grabbing counter serve. Never thought I'd say that on my first solo trip!

Also - As much as I love going to WDW solo, there are TWO things that I really want to do, but I feel that I just don't want to do it solo.

# 1 is The Adventurer's Club at PI.

# 2 is Miniature Golf
