I am heading to Jambo House in 2 weeks with a 2 bedroom lock off. I want to make a room request and have the following priorities...
1) Good view of animals
2) Not too far from lobby/elevators but not so close animals are spooked
3) Semi convenient to pool and refills (we get our money's worth on the refill cups).

Looks like midway on the Zebra Trail is the best bet?? Anybody with some room experience have any advice? Thank You!!!

Since you'll be on the fifth floor, I don't think you'll need to worry about the animals being spooked. But there is a flyer in the rooms or your welcome home packet requesting all guests to be quiet on their balconies. I would say 2 out of 3 guests pay attention to this detail. They forget that yelling at the person still in the room really carries sound. But despite the occasional noise we never noticed a single animal reacting to the humans. The animals were more interested in each other and their food.

Since I've only stayed down on the third floor on a cash reservation, I can't advise you about what location is best. We'll be staying in a DVC villa for our first time in June.

Hope you have a great vacation and the perfect villa.

And since you'll be on the fifth floor, none are really all the convenient to the pool and refill areas.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. I guess I am looking for the best options considering the fact that I am on the fifth floor. An elevator ride is no big deal, but don't want a 2 mile walk to the elevator. I had heard the animals avoid the main lobby area some due to a greater commotion and tend to be seen more from the middle to end rooms??... not sure if that is true.

Looks like Zebra trail midpoint looks to be the best option unless anyone has a different experience.

I was in a studio on Zebra Trail and if memory serves it was room 5175? Not sure but I think it ended in ...75. It was a loooooooooooooooong walk to the elevators. But a spectacular room. Loved being in Jambo House.:thumbsup2

The animals move all over the savannah. They actually tend to go to certain areas at certain times of day. So...it could very well depend on the times that you are in your room if you will see animals, regardless of where you might be. For example...in the mornings, the animals are taken in to the barns at certain times on the various savannahs. They know what time it is, and basically barn hug prior to that...therefore, you may see nothing in the morning.

I also find the 5th floor too high for me for animal viewing. I like being as near to them as possible. I usually stay at Kidani for that reason.

We consider the best savanna view roooms at Jambo to be those along Zebra Trail away from the lobby (mid-way up is fine). We prefer Arusha savanna at Jambo and the Zebra Trail rooms face west, meaning you are not blinded in the morning with sun and get to watch pleasant sunsets.

I concur with drusba, the Zebra Trail Arusha Savanna views are great. We once had a Kudu Trail Arusha Savanna view and the morning sun was definitely blinding - and hot since it was August!

I guess it depends on what your defintion of convenient is. We've been on the Zebra Trail 3 times and the elevators roughly half way down are terrific for getting to both the pool and Mara for drink refills and food. Take the elevator down to the pool level and when you get out you see Simba's Clubhouse and you just take a right and go through the doors and - BAM! - you're at the pool with Mara at the end of the walkway. If you have small children like we do this is a bonus for when they want to go back to the room and change after swimming or if you want to get food at Mara and take it back to your room.

The 3 rooms we've had on the Zebra Trail were a 1 BR, Room 5579, which was the LAST 1BR on the Zebra Trail and a healthy walk to the lobby. We've also stayed in a dedicated studio, Room 5421, which was nice as it had the thatch roof overhanging the balcony and was very convenient to the laundry room and in a 2BR, Room 5523/5525. All 3 rooms had great views of the animals with a lot of activity.

For us the Zebra Trail was perfect due to the elevator pr0ximity to Mara & the pool and the lack of intense sunlight blasting your room in the morning. When we stayed on the Kudu Trail, the walk to Mara & the pool was much longer so whenever we make reservations we always put in a request for a room on the Zebra Trail. By the luck of the draw we've always had an Arusha Savanna view but I don't know if the Uzima Savanna would be any worse.

I just looked back at my information and the studio was #5575. :thumbsup2
