I'm sure this has been discussed but I can't find the thread. If someone could kindly post the thread for me. We're looking for some suggestions of restaurants in the immediate area that won't be too expensive (not in Citywalk), something like familiar chain restaurants like Ponderosa, Olive Garden, TGIF, etc, or local restaurants that you know are have good food, we'll have our own van. We're a party of 11, 8 adults and 3 children and while we will most likely eat breakfast and lunch at the parks, we'd like to eat somewhere reasonable for dinner (we're staying at RPR but I KNOW how expensive the restaurant is). I welcome any suggestions. TIA!

We like to eat at the Orlando Ale House on Kirkman Road. The food and service are good, and the prices are reasonable. The Ponderosa I do not recommend. We ate there once, and once was one time too many.

 I hate to hear "don't eat at Ponderosa" I too am looking for affordable restaurants for dinner.

I think you'll find this thread helpful. It's over on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions forum:

Almost all the restaurants posted are reasonably priced and family friendly.

My personal top vote goes to Sweet Tomatoes at the corner of Kirkman and International Drive. We also like Perkins and Golden Corral.

Try Tony Roma's on International Drive. It is about ten minutes from the Universal Resorts. They have many lunch offerings for $6.00

We had a great barbeque beef sandwich with fries and cole slaw for $6.00 It was a great and very affordable meal.

Thanks to you all for responding, anyone else have any suggestions, they are all welcome! TIA!

We enjoyed the Ponderosa at I-Drive next to WnW on our last visit for breakfast and in 2002 we te dinner there it was good
:jester:

There is a Chili's on I drive. Really good too!

We ate at the Ponderosa on Kirkman. I did not like it, but my husband liked it okay.

We ate at Bennigan's last year, was very good and inexpensive (comparable to TGIF prices, maybe a little cheaper). I think it was on 192, there are several in Orlando -locations

We also ate at Don Pablo's Mexican restaurant on I-drive, which was good (get free chips and salsa as most mexican rest. do) and was also inexpensive. No waiting either.

We had Shoney's breakfast bar one morning on 192, it was really good and cheap. (better than most Shoney's)

I don't like any Ponderosa restaurant so can't comment on those.

(just to note "inexpensive" means different things to different people, to me inexpensive is $30 or less for 2 people)

Have a great trip!
