Yeah, I mentioned the entire After The Fire album earlier. That whole thing was good! :)
Oops...couldn't recall everything.

How about China from the Red Rockers?
Or Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider or Holding Back the Years by Simply Red.

Anything Depeche Mode, The Cure, or REM takes me right back to the angst-y 80s.

The Buggles! Okay, but the REAL trivia question is...what was the SECOND video ever played on MTV? :teeth:

And that Steve Miller song...is that the one with the line "Black panties with an angel's face?" I've always liked that line...

Has anyone mentioned:

Who's Behind The Door? - Zebra

...or Tell Me What You Want. That cassette is actually in my car! I think Ronnie James Dio - The Last in Line ("...we are coming...hooooooooooommmmmme...") is in there, too.

Is no one going to mention Tiffany and Samantha Fox? :confused3

:rotfl2:

Great thread! It gives me ideas of songs I've wanted to buy on CDs but haven't gotten around to yet.

I love most of the songs already mentioned, but here are a few more (maybe not so main-stream) that I don't think have been listed yet:
(Keep Feeling) Fasincation, Human League
When I Hear Music, Debbie Deb
Dreamin', Will to Power
Tenderness, General Public
Dream Team is in the House, LA Dream Team
Sister Christian, Night Ranger
The Only One, Lionel Richie
Ice Cream Castles, Morris Day and the Time
You're the Inspiration, Chicago
High on You, Survivor

And I'm going to throw in Rock Lobster, B-52s, even though it's already been mentioned several times, because it's a classic! Down, down, down...

(P.S. Does anyone think that the people who wrote a lot of these songs must've been high at the time?)

Samantha Fox is such a wild dame
Huh, but what's in a name?

My younger brother had a thing for Samantha Fox...then when I was in college, I had a class with a Samantha Fox. Sadly, not the same one...

My DH & I are some of the luckiest parents !! Our boys LOVE LOVE LOVE 80's music. DS15 & DS10 both play guitar, drums & keyboard, and are constantly playing music from the 80's.

Some of the more frequent ones are:
Rick Springfield
AC/DC
Journey
Styx
Boston
Def Leppard
REO Speedwagon
Van Halen
Twisted Sister
Poison
Billy Joel
+ many many more

They don't even know any of the music from their generation. Their teachers keep asking how they know the words and music to these songs. What can I say? They have good taste!

My favorites include a lot of what has already been posted, but I also want to add ABBA! They had an album in 1980 which had some great tunes.

Many years ago, a local radio station did a contest on identifying 80's song lyrics. It was before Google made it easy, and we had a blast in our office tryig to figure them out! I should pull that out sometime and give it another go!

Depeche Mode - I Just Can't Get Enough
Jane Wiedlin - Rush Hour
Kenny Loggins - Footloose

Has Golden Earring been mentioned? Twilight Zone (Help I'm slipping into the twilight zone, this is a madhouse, feels like being cloned...) or Radar Love (I've been driving all night my hands wet on the wheel..)

How about Madness? Our House or, my personal favorite, One Step Beyond (Hey you don't watch that, watch this...)

Hmm...love the video for House of Fun. When they're wearing women's clothes and doing the funny dance in the store? Cracks me up.
