Hi Everyone:

Just looking for some feedback on the best 2-way radios out there...in specific, we're just looking for a reasonable price, good reach, and easy operation.

Has anyone had experience with these or any fitting the above bills?

I would appreciate any advice...Thanks~

The Motorola Talkabout line has been widely regarded as the "best of class" when it comes to FRS (Family Radio Service) radios. Get one of their models that has the 14 channels and the 38 "privacy" codes and you should be good to go.

Also keep in mind that some places will tout the "5-Mile" radios. While having better range (from the fact that they're two watt radios vs. .5 watt for the FRS radios), they really GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radios and require an FCC license to legally operate. The license is $80, covers all members of the same family, and is good for several years.

Dear MollyBelle ,
I recently purchased from Sams Club the Motorola 5720 GRS/FRS radios in a package that included 2 radios , rechargeable batts. , the chargers , faceplates , beltclips , and earbud/mics for $49.99 ! They have 38 channels and I think 14 sub-channels which makes it easier to find a clear inactive channel to use . They have a range of up to 5 miles which will work very well in most areas of the parks . The only thing else you should know is that the FCC requires you to obtain a license ($75) to operate them in the GRS mode (5 mile range) , the FRS mode (up to 2 mile range) works very well also but does not cover as much area .
(I don't know if there is any way for the FCC to enforce the license requirement)

We too are shopping for a two-way radio for our up-coming trip........we waste alot of time with "meet you back at.....". Has anyone tried and liked the Disney cute ones and are they worth the $? We actually want to be able to hear clearly, not just be cute!! I don't really want to spend more that 50$. Thanks.

Actually BOUGHT the Disney 2-way radios from Motorola. Going to use them on our upcoming trip. Tested them out and they are really cool. They answer and page in a selected character's voice. I got them thru the Motorola website. They are FRS and have a range of 2 miles. They come in Princess or Classic.

Even with x number of channels and y number of subchannels, won't there be a lot other people using the same channel at WDW?

With our former radios (no subchannels) we had lots of problems with others on the same channel. With our new radios (38 subchannels) we have never had interference on our chosen channel. They really do work well in the parks.

Hello all
Last year we purchased the Motorola but so did the other 40,000 people who were in the park. Getting out in the MK was practically imposable. This year we are renting Nextel’s

fyi the disney ones are on sale at amazon right now. i believe the adventure set is only $23!!!

i have a pair and they work great. plus they're fun :)

A Motorola Disney phone is also available. It is about $60, portable and you can set the Classic style (red and black) to play "zip-a-dee-doo-dah" when it rings. It also has caller id on the handset. I've had it about 6 months and am very pleased with it. It also comes in Princess (pink and purple).
