Besides the Skyliner, why would you pick Caribbean Beach over Coronado?

Coronado has a more Deluxe feel. it is an easy bus ride to HS to hop on the skyliners (did so many times pre-Covid), the pool is beautiful. We took kids and never felt it wasn't kid friendly (we've even stayed when there was a conference in progress.) We felt CS was very relaxing. CBR is beautiful but felt very spread out. The kids preferred the CBR pool but preferred CS overall. (polling a 7 and 10 year old for reference)

We're staying at CBR soon and it was the 5th sleeper/murphy bed that sealed the deal. Our kids REALLY don't like sharing a bed (apparently they both kick) so having a third bed for our smallest was a no-brainer.

Of course, we're pretty excited about the Skyliner, too.

Taking out Skyliner. I like, as a Disney adult, Coronado Springs better. Like the food and the location and the more variety to the visual play. It also spikes some childhood memories of trips to Mexico and other places. The remodel of the rooms while made it a little more generic was fine and needed at Coronado Springs. It just feels more "better" almost deluxe there.

Caribbean I don't care for the food as much. The room remodel came off a little less nicer and already one room i stayed at was having some weird problems. It feels a little more spread out than Coronado Springs.

Having the Riverian close by to Caribbean fixes a few food issues have with Caribbean Beach and they seem to have both bad buses compared to other deluxe. But that can be "improved" by being by the first stop.

So yeah I would lean towards Coronado Springs.

But the Skyliner is enough advantage with CBR. So after staying at both multiple times I am going back to Caribbean Beach soon.

Price would be the other reason to pick CBR over CSR. CBR sometimes has greater discounts and better availability of discounted rooms.

That was pretty Covid. Convention bookings are virtually zero. Not sure about current pricing

I am by no means a Disney expert and for full transparency, have not stayed at either. However, I am choosing to stay at CBR next year for a number of reasons (one big one being the Skyliner, but you asked for others).

- I'm planning a father/son trip with my will be 13 y/o and I'll be 37 when the trip happens. The scale (i.e.- size) of the resort appeals to me. We are both able bodied and don't mind walking one bit. I realize there might be a little bit of a walk back to the room from transportation or a walk to OPR, but I think that might be a good thing for us. My son and I do best communicating when we are doing something (like walking) and I hope to capitalize on the walk back to our room after a park day to debrief or to use the walking time when we aren't surrounded by a bunch of people to connect.

- It looks to me that the pool at CBR is more suited to what my son would like.

- The proximity to The Riviera is also a plus to me.

- Although Skyliner related, the ability to go back to the room in 15 or so minutes from 2 parks was a huge decider for me as well.

the only way I would would be if we just stayed at Coronado and wanted something different. It has been years since we stated at CBR, but we walked the grounds in September while staying at Riviera. CBR is definitely the lowest ranked moderate for a reason.

With the Skyliner removed from the equation, I wouldn't choose CBR over CSR unless it was hugely cheaper or there was no availability at CSR.

Tough call, we love both resorts. Skyliner aside, they are both centrally located and have quick commutes everywhere. CBR feels larger since CSR has the bridges cutting across the lake making for easier walks around the resort. At CBR, there is no one section or building that is centrally located to everything - you're either close to the Skyliner or close to Old Port Royale. Not both.

In normal times, we find CBR to be more relaxing. CSR caters to business travelers. As someone who travels for work, it burst my little vacation bubble being around people on conference calls and laptops while eating breakfast. I prefer being around like-minded vacationing families. In normal times, CSR does have more amenities and dining options making for enjoyable resort time with more options than typical, but CBR also is an easy walk to Riviera for the same.

In the current environment, CSR is only utilizing the tower and Casitas and the food court is not operating. They're also not selling reusable mugs. If the food situation is not a deal breaker, it would be fun to use the pool at CSR with such limited capacity. We just returned from a week long stay at CBR and while it was not particularly busy, it felt like all the sections were operational.

So, for me, I guess I would base my decision on when you're going!

I’m staying at CBR. My cousin who works for Disney recommended it and I’m looking forward to staying there. I like the feel of a tropical vacation with a glimmer of Disney. It reminds me of the rooms on the cruise ships, which we love.

So, I picked CBR for my upcoming vacation, and skyliner definitely played a part in why, but going into the selection process, I knew the one place I wouldn't ever stay on property was Coronado Springs.

Here's why: I stayed at CS for a convention a few years back, and while I could tell the resort was meant to feel deluxe, I never felt like I was at Disney. I walked from my room over to the convention center and back. I never even realized there was a pool to go to or things to do! I go to another conference regularly held in Orlando and that is held over at the Caribe Royale off property and I just felt like I could relax and enjoy myself better there than I could at CS, which came off as being remote and lonely. Now, apparently I'm wrong and if I came as part of a Disney booking, it would be different, but that was my first impression of the resort and I'm afraid it's soured CS for me, so that I really can't imagine ever staying there willingly.

Answering the original question - I wouldn't. I think Coronado is definitely a superior resort over CBR - especially because you said to take Skyliner out of the equation. Now - I suppose if there is a huge discount in room maybe I'd go to CBR? But honestly - I'd pick a value over CBR again.

I'm surprised by the amount of hate for CBR. What specifically was it that you didn't like about CBR? Or is it that CBR isn't bad but the other resorts are just THAT much better?

I really think that Coronado is much more similar to a Deluxe property than a Moderate, especially the Gran Destino Tower, and the prices are usually comparable or even less at Coronado, unless you want a Tower room.

Too many bus stops for me, along with just being too spread out in general. The resort is pretty and the rooms are nice, but it's still my least favorite moderate.
