would something like Alias or Buffy be seen as trashy beach novels?

Hiya everyone,

Have been lurking trying to find a spot to jump in and say hello, hope no one minds me showing up on this thread!

Satine - DBF likes Buffy and Alias... but he always laughs at me cos' my comment on Alias is "does that girl ever *not* have something rocket-powered to help her with her mission?"

NB: I've only ever watched two episodes and in each one she did! One was a rocket powered fold out briefcase she used to shoot down a tunnel.... LOL (I know it's not the widest sample to make a judgement from, I think that's why DBF laughs :))

Cya,
Gaspode

I believe a trashy beach novel is one where there is sex, the couple lives happily ever after, and you can read it in less than 4 hours with out having a brain cramp. Mindless drivel with heaving bosoms and thobbing manhoods............ Yummy!

Gaspode: Alias is a blast to watch, great fun and cute guys:) Buffy is also fun and has cute guys(especially Spike and Xander)

Mickeyfan: just needed ideas and those are easy and cheap to find:)

Yep, those are the simple ones, Silluette, Harliquin, all the great ones! (Pardon my spelling, darn spell checkers!)

Welcome to RMC Gaspode! Nice to have new friends. As you get to know us better, you will find us nuts, crazy, and very nice. ANd we do have a few gentleman who gallantly grace us ocasionally (Oldkicker, alabamaalan, and of course, Yepod) If anything is confusing, or seems a little out of place, or downright odd, it's all John's fault. Remember that and you will fit right in!

Edited to add - Oh boy, another non USer! Welcome to you from across the pond. I believe you are our first Brit. We have some Canadians here, but I think you are the first form outside North America. Welcome, welcome, welcome. And we do understand time zones are a bother, I am way out west, so I am always late for everything.

we talk lots of reality tv(currently: American Idol and next up either Amazing Race or the Osbournes)

Welcome Gaspode!! Always room for another chatter!

Have a good time camping this weekend LK! We did it last weekend.

Gail, I like the plain boxers better.

Gina, I hope you get some sun soon! Actually I hope we do too!

Love those trashy novels!!!

How about Big Brother 4 or 5 or whatever.....that will start again soon too.

Hi Gaspode!!!!! Glad to have you here. Although we claim to be angels we have a great time here. :teeth: Very happy to have a friend from across the pond. My DD would love to live in England. SHe's 8 and a huge Harry Potter fan.

Marsha - you're way out all right.....that's why we love you!!!!

I appreciate the opinions on the pj's.......especially the thoughts on a printed butt  I haven't completely talked myself into them - yet!!!

Well Gail, I think I've FINALLY made up my mind.....my vote would go to the solid shorts...I too am not usually anxious to draw any more attention to my "butt" than I NEED to (ESPECIALLY during a moomer eclipse!)!!!:D

I've seen the ads but don't know too much otherwise. Do you know if the judging will operate the same way...and who will be the judges???

Hiya all
Thnx for the welcomes!

paras4ri - I love HPotter too! Am going to try and reread the first four before the fifth (my DBF will be reading our copy first anyways!) Will HP5 be coming out in the US the same time as here?

We think alike!!! I'm just finishing a re-read of book 4.....probably will be done tonight. I picked up book 2 just before the movie was released in the fall and just kept reading. Book 5 will be released here on June 21 and I think we're planning to attend a midnight release party at Barnes & Noble. We have 2 copies reserved because there will be 3 of us reading them - me, DD & DS, and we'll be on vacation that week so if we had only one we'd really fight over it!! ;)

Hiya,
Book 4 is my favourite followed by book 3... I have to admit it took a while for me to read HP. DBF really had to convince me (in the end he bought me my own copy of book 1 for xmas!). Basically I don't like things that are hyped up too much and HP exploded here in the UK and I tried to keep away from it... DBF took me to see film 1, then had me read the book and it went from there... Am really glad he did!!

Book 1 is okay IMHO and book 2 was rushed IMO... but I adored 3&4 and am even more of a fan now so looking forward to rereading them all and reading book 5.
Book 5 is out here on June 21 as well. We can only afford one copy ;) We will be in FL a week later so hopefully I'll get chance to read it on hols if DBF is quick!
That was a bit of a long reply! Perhaps we need a HP thread? ;)

Brrrrr.... we are back from a very windy and cold picnic.

Welcome Gaspode! I'm glad you found us. We love Harry Potter here also. Gail - we will have to try and attend the midnight party too at the bookstore. It looked like a lot of fun the last time, but we weren't into it as much as we are now.

Gaspode - just curious - what time is it now for you? It is 8:30 pm here.

OK, now WE'RE thinking alike!!! I just asked Lew (my DH) the same question. She's up late.....1:30 a.m.!!!

Yeah am up late! I am just not tired today... don't really know why, perhaps excitement as the lead singer from my favourite band is just about to launch her debut single album and I have it on order and tickets to see her live the week before I fly to FL and she was on tv this evening and it's made me a bit giddy *g*
Anyways, tis the weekend!!
Cya,
Gaspode

Back to HP.......#3 is my favorite, although my favorite character (so far) is Gilderoy Lockhart. I truly loved Kenneth Branaugh's (sp?) interpretation of the character. #4 is a bit disturbing, even reading it a second time.
