Bernie's Angels - the Chat Fest continues...

Carol, I kinda think I'm okay with the idea of summer work especially considering it's for an AP and an honors class. I remember having a reading list for Honors English in high school the summer before in order to get ahead. While there were no reports involved, it was almost 30 years ago and the times have changed somewhat.

Matt (age 9 - going into 4th grade) will have a summer reading list, a packet of suggested work and some supplementary work from me to keep the juices flowing. It won't be anything time consuming or mandatory but I do see that sort of assignment coming down the pike for the future.

I hope you don't mind me expressing my opinion.

Has this mattered in the past? :p

I remember reading The Jungle, Grapes of Wrath, and Pride and Prejudice during the summer for required reading one year.

I beleive we actually discussed Grapes of Wrath the next year

Hope you are all well, Marsha, good luck for your DH with the job - Wouldn't you miss Arizona tho? :)

I seem to have caught my DBFs cold he had last week, what joy! Not too bad (yet!) tho'.... but am going to retire early tonight.

What's the Angel Journal?

Cya,
Gaspode

I will miss AZ something awful, but it's my turn to be moved, he did it twice in the past for my career.

The Angel Journal is a book which we decided to pass from one to another, talking about ourselves, telling about our first trip to WDW, etc. The rules are as follows. I bought the book and a little Angel stutue to go with it. As soon as I had it, I put a notice here. Boosmom was the first to PM me that she wanted it when I was done. So when I finished my few pages, I mailed it to her, along with the Angel and a keyring from AZ and a little note pad. She got to keep the little gifts. When she got the box, she put the notice on the thread and CourtasanSatine asked for it next. So after Stephanie wrote her pages, she boxed it up and sent it to Texas for CS along with the Angel and a little gift. We think it's there, but we haven't seen the "I have the Journal" post yet. Hopefully, we will read that soon and the next Angel can add to it. You can play if you want! Just be the first to PM the person who has it. After all takers have done it, it comes back to me for aq second go round. I can't wait to read what all my Angel Cousins have written. 3 weeks should be enough time to read, write, and remail! Sorry you are not feeling up to par. Get better quick so your trip won't be spoiled. I'd send some Angel dust your way, but that's illeagal, so you have to settle for Pixie Dust *****

OMG !!! I just got back from a short 2 day business conference and there was a great big box waiting for me on my front porch !!
My angel box has arrived safe and sound from Pennsylvania.
Thank you , thank you , thank you Sandi .. aka Ranatra ... for all the great goodies !! I got a clear ice bucket w/ a summer motif on it (beach chairs and umbrellas), a pretty picture frame bordered w/ vines and leaves w/ a pretty flower on it and a citronella candle gift pack in designer colors :D :D  :D :D
Also got a cute little wind chime !! I don't have any chimes... but I'm always looking at them in the gift shops ... who ever is shopping with me knows where I am because I always have to test them out ! So that gift really made me smile ... and then I got a pretty blue bag filled with skin/hand/foot care products to keep me looking good at the beach .... what thoughtful gifts Sandi - it was a real pick-me-up !! :D :D

I love broadway shows/musicals so if a NY angel meet ever materializes I'd sure be game !!

I'll try and check in again a little later.... have to go settle back in now that I'm back home !

GRRRR...angel vent!!!!!!!

As you may know, my plans for the afternoon were to bath, de-tick,and brush my german shepard, Hunny. Well, Hunny had other plans, and decided to test her freedom for about 3 hours today.....so...she finally comes home, smelling like a swamp...I put her in the tub...get her all clean, put this month's dose of Advantage on here....she's lookin good.....I tell AJ to block the stairs going up to the bedrooms, lest Hunny think she'll sulk about the bath on one of our beds....INSTEAD of blocking the stairs...he decideds to play around with the front door....and HUNNY got out!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm soooooo angry I had to walk away.....grrrrrrrr.......

Sorry about that Steph. Max loves to run after his bath, and of course he has to get out his dog door and walk on the dirt path, then run around the vacant lot. So why do I bother?

It's always because it we (the moms) don't take all the precations ourselves first, when it happens we get the blank stares, like"what??? what's wrong, mom?" DOn't worry less than 60 days till AKL.

Sandy,

I'm glad you liked your summer box. I had fun putting it together!
That Blue Bag is for you to totally Pamper yourself!!
If you have any questions about any of the products, let me know.

yeah....60 more days...I'm sooo looking forward to this girls trip!!!

It's gonna be so cool to meet an Angel.

Gail.....me, you, and spb need to get together....isn't lildeb also in the MA area???

 Hi all! Sorry for lack of catch up here... I am a bit busy today. I am feeling better and I really do appreciate all the kind thoughts :)

You know American Juniors or whatever just came on and I am shocked that such little kids dance like that and their moms want them too

That's a great idea!!! lildeb is in MA but not far from me at all. I'm not sure exactly where in CT Sandi lives.

Evening all!! We took a quick ride to the water and had dinner from our favorite seafood "stand" although they now have some indoor seating and are open year-round. It was nice to sit on the rocks and watch the sailboats on the bay. :D

I've never watched American Juniors and don't think I really want to. IMHO I don't enjoy kids show's like that.

I don't enjoy shows like that, but I just turned the TV on and that is what it was on. What I saw was shocking!!! Truly shocking to me. I don't think I will ever turn that on again (acciden or not ;))

Quiet here today... I think I might read for a while.

It is very quiet here tonight. We were watching some of American Juniors, but mostly to see the pushy stage parents and laugh. It's a shame how these people push their kids to do things. Granted, some kids really had talent, but they were few and far between.
Yippee! Another exchange box filled with great stuff!! Carol, thanks so much for organizing this!!!
Tomorrow, my baby will be 8 years old. I can't believe how fast the time goes. I will be posting a thread for birthday wishes for her tomorrow, so please stop by and post on it if you get a chance. We get to spend the day together at Girl Scout day camp. Should be tons of fun, but let's hope the rain stays away for the next few days.

I'm playing with my scanner!!! This was taken on the beach opposite Chatham light on Mother's Day.

This exchange was/is fun because people get such different things. It is fun to see who will get what next.

Only 2 more days of school. I promised DD she could drive so I will have to take DH to work each day. This seriously cuts into my riddling time.

Great picture Gail.

Gail - one question....what are you all wearing? I thought that when you went to the beach you wore bikinis! At least that's what I do....................

J/K Great picture. I will guess it's Mrs Gail, not Mrs DH?

Cute kids, too., This is a better picture of them than the one in your siggy. Ain't technology great?

Laura, I'll be late with the HBD for Leah, so make sure you log in later, it's usually almost 9 your time before I get on here. Have fun at camp.

NO RAIN NO RAIN NO RAIN

A lot of my girlfriends (30s & 40s) are buying modest tank-inis this year. They say it'll give then the comfort and ease (potty) of a 2 piece but the modesty of a 1 piece.

I do have a tankini....and love it. It's from Lands' End. I even convinced Carol to try the same suit and I do believe she purchased one too!
