If you could all think some good thoughts for my Dad, I'd appreciate it ..... he has 2 artificial hips and one of them popped out today ..... they tried to get it back in today but were having trouble, so he's staying over in the hospital and will do it under anesthesia tomorrow .... if all goes well he should be home by tomorrow night ..... the worst part is that it popped out while no one else was home - he was puttering around in the yard - he was sitting down propping against the house but then his limbs started falling asleep so he laid down in the grass ..... 'bout an hour later my mom gets home (dad said he was comfortable and didn't feel like calling out to the neighbors and bothering them .....now my dad has a bad heart too so she sees him stretched out on the lawn and thinks the worst until he yells out "it's my hip!" ..... so she called 911 and took it from there......not great news, but with all his other troubles I'm just thinking "glad it's only his hip" ....

Sandi - my uncle had his go out the day he left the hospital after the replacement (of the replacement). Long story, they didn't know for 2 weeks that it was dislocated, and he had so many problems, they took it out, permanently. So he is in a motorized wheel chair. I hope you father comes through all better, and tell him NEVER scare your mother like that again, or the Angels will come and whip up on him!

Milestone posts!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!! I have to look after this and see how close to 4000 I am, too.

My goodness! Hope all goes well tomorrow with your dad's hip. I'll be thinking of him.

Way to go, Matt and his team. I'll be pulling for them again tomorrow.

We enjoyed the movie again. Saw lots of things that I missed the first time around. DH and I are wondering at DD's choice of Captain Jack to have a crush on. Hope that isn't a sign of things to come. He's cute, but boy is he a scoundrel. LOL!

My friend's party was great. I managed to only buy things that sort of went along with our diets. I got a lemon cheesecake mix (okay, that one is a splurge but I can make it with lo-fat cream cheese), fajita rub, and chicken enchilada soup mix. I tasted the most wonderful salad. I'll have to call my friend for the recipe. It was a green salad with lemon poppyseed dressing and it had dried cranberries and apples in it. It was to die for!

What a scare for your mother!!
My mother lives with us, she has a bad heart and a bad hip also.
that would be very frightening to see her laid out in the grass like that!

Sandy - I hope your Dad is all better today. I couldn't imagine your Mom's reaction.

Is POTC too scary for young kids?

Depends on the age and the kids. A lot of it is really quite funny, but there are living skeletons with clothing in rags. Some are quite icky looking. Just the sight of them could scare someone young. There are really only 2 spots where they surprise you, but lots of sword fights, canons firing etc. I can PM you more about the story if you'd like.

Having said that, DD 12 won't watch ANY scary movies and she loved this one. She loved the ride references and the funny lines. She didn't think it was scary at all. And she's in love with Captain Jack.

Thanks for the specifics on POTC Melissa.....I think both of my kids will enjoy it and not be scared. It's actually the older one who gets bothered by some movies (he gets that from his mom!)

MerryPoppins - thanks for the advice. My DS is 6 1/2 and my DD is 3 1/2. I'm not worried about my DS, and my DD saw the skeletons in Spy Kids 2 and it didn't phase her. She also has seen GhostBusters, Spiderman and many others so she might be o.k. w/ POTC.
