Well i had a heck of a day yesterday- I got my veil Wed and yesterday they called with the price, there were some changes to be made to it. Ok for a long veil and a shorter piece w/ rhinestones it was going to be....ok this does not include a tiara that I have...ok are you ready because like I was in shock when she called I just said ok...are you sure, hang on $875 for a stinkin piece of tulle. This is not Versace or Valentino, it is from Nieman Marcus and designed by a lady who lives 45 min North of me in the booming fashion houses of Southern Illinois and that is the price - I just keep saying who does she think she is? So I went to the old shop that I worked for and got the same thing, I am going to put my own stones on and it is considerably less, I may even add a hidden mickey.

To add to my flip out, the BEO arrives, the floral is seperate so I get the one from my EM first and I am actually pleased with that part I had a little less than 2000 for floral to be right at my minimum- My finace and I went over that and then added the floral part and had a figure, well I got that last night and flipped, It was 1000 more than our high estimate - It honestly is not THAT horrible, but my question is when you all flip out about being over budget how much are you talking like 1000 over or like 5000 over- I am trying to get this in perspective. I have not been hysterical or anything, I have actually been calm. I am lucky to have Josh he has a calming effect on me!
I am about 2000 over so and I do need to make some color changes on some things-
So give me some idea how much over you were when you flipped!

Hi Allison,

Ok breathe....let see

Why not try an outside vendor for floral? I saved alot just on chair covers & sashes alone. I used Emily at Charming Events.

Who are you using for photography?

Tell me again where your ceremony, reception & are you having a dessert party? How many guests?

Im in the same situation! im like $4k over budget on my BEO!

My photography and video are seperate so i really need to make some changes to my BEO!

Are there things that you absoutely don't need? I didn't need crazy centerpieces and I just said yes to everything and figured that when i got the BEO that i could cross off things that weren't necessary. Do you have your final count yet? That helped me, b/c i estimated too many people that were coming. I ended up cutting 7 people. and that helped. One less table which equaled: one less centerpiece, less napkins, less chaircovers and sashes, not to mention less food and less alcohol.

Don't stress out, it's going to be a lovely wedding and well worth it!

OH there are definately things I can change- I am at WP and Ariel's no dessert party- I am really about 1500 over. I really wanted to stay really close to my minimum for the wedding because I am having a Tea Party also. We have 65 guests 8 are babies so they are not charged, but there will probably be fewer people probably around 50 ( we are just afraid they will bring dates who were not invited). Photography=Randy Chapman. But I should mention that I do have the expensive chairs in my budget- I could do the chair covers w/ bow for half, but I also have 65 chairs and the 8 babies will not be in chairs- what do they do for high chairs.

If you guys feel comfortable in sharing your BEO's I can help. I had to cut everything in ours. Remember that these are estimates based on your "dream" wedding. Like everyone else said, it depends on priorities. For me I cut everything that I could and I was still over my high budget by 2k. I just in the end had to deal with it to have what I wanted. I personally found Disney floral to be really reasonable! I didn't do table coverings we had sashes down the standard white linens and that looked really nice as a splash of color without the full cover price. Just something to think about!

At one point my dad said he would pay the minimum and then figured in 1000 or so more for taxes and all of that. This is probably doable BUT I am also doing the tea party- I am not doing upgraded linens at the reception for the tables, I have shell napkin rings that we are buying, the upgraded chairs which could go,but the bus will be decreased since we will probably have everyone just come to the beach club. Also based on the number who actually come that will decrease as well. Like I said I did not go wild so I am not sure what I can really cut out except change the flowers-
Help!

LOL--I think what Dsnyfan said is really important--until you have a final count, you really can't figure it out. If you are only over $1500, you should be able to cut once you get your final count. It might be something as simple as simplifying your centerpieces or switching the linens to something more like what Jonette suggested. I had over 250 on my guest list, so my beo kept changing. I had a pretty solid idea of how many would come...but it changed right up to the date of the wedding!

When we got our first BEO, I think it was 5-7k more than what my parents had planned on. My dh and I were in the process of closing on our dreamhome and had to pay for the home reception, so we were useless. In the end, we came in right at budget.

It'll work out:)

I sat down today and looked at the number of people who had actually booked hotel rooms and there are 50 people including us, which our count is 65 and while it may still change... it helped out just refiguring with that number. I am also taking out the upgraded chairs and doing chair covers w/ bow- I will see what else. Any other ideas would help.

Two area's where i cut out was - our floral had included gold charger plates which worked out at $200

and the napkins that matched out sashes on the chairs - they worked out at $150 so ive cut those out too.

We were not even offered chargers- or special linens for the cake table. We are only doing ivory linens but I would think that the cake table maybe would have needed some extra, I guess not...
