As everyone has mentioned, the best reason for owning more than one resort is for the Home Resort Priority.
However, it is possible to own a resort that you don't want to stay in since the resale prices for some are quite low. So, if you are happy with the 7 month priority, then owning at one resort which gives you the best price in terms of per point and maintenance fees is probably the way to go.
