I prob. spelled that wrong :)
I have to admit I have never had these before. I was not even sure exactly what it was until a few days ago and I hear raves reviews about these little things.

I looked up the two places that sell these and there is quite a price difference.

I wanted to know why and Which are better, Jazz kitchen or Cafe orleans?

I see at the Jazz kitchen you get 6 large ones for $8
and at
cafe orleans is is around ($7) the same price for one (it says it comes with raspberry/vanilla something?).

Which ones should I try?

At Cafe Orleans, you get 5 to an order.

I can only speak for the ones at Cafe Orleans, as those are the only ones we tried, but they are GOOD!! The order we got came with 5 per order (we ordered 2 so we got ten). They are cute, mickey shaped and covered with powdered sugar. The dipping sauces are good, one is like a vanilla custard and the other a raspberry sauce. They are puffed up and hollow and very light, not a heavy dessert. A must now on every visit!! The meals are yummy there too, so it's a win-win!! :)

I personally think the beignets at RBJ's taste WAY better than the ones at Cafe Orleans. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Monte Cristo and Pomme Frites, but just because they're Mickey shaped doesn't mean they're wonderful. They look cute, but taste very bland IMO *shrugs*

Oh, I didn't know you get 5 per order at Cafe Orleans, I thought that was for only 1,lol!! That is good to know. The vanilla/raspberry sounds very good too.
I will have to do a test and try both places out, lol! Thanks for the replies :)

You can also get beignets at the Mint Julep bar in Disneyland. It's a take-out window near Cafe Orleans. $3.99 for three beignets or $6.99 for a six-pack. No dipping sauces but shaken in a bag of powdered sugar. The beignets inside Disneyland are shaped like Mickey heads; the ones at Jazz Kitchen are not. I have tried both types and remember liking both. Maybe I should try them both again sometime soon to determine if I think one is distinctly better than the other. :)

Jazz Kitchen Express are more traditional style. They're excellent! They toss them in a bag with powdered sugar. Shake them up and enjoy.

Cafe Orleans is more Disney non-traditional style. Mickey shaped, with dipping sauces etc. They're good, just not traditional N.O. style. Both styles are good, just depends on what you like...for us, we prefer JKE's.

For reference, Port Orleans French Quarter at WDW has beignets very similar to Jazz Kitchen Express's.

Agree completely!

Agree with mysterious and Elk Grove! Jazz Kitchen beignets are MUCH better.

I make these once a month for Sunday breakfast along with other items.
We do not like waiting a year for the treat.

We love them both! The kids can't get enough of them, so we get the Jazz Kitchen Express for breakfast (nothing like walking through the gates covered in powder sugar) and then we'll have the Cafe Orleans treat after a lunch or dinner. The dipping sauces are an extra special treat. :)

We enjoy the ones at Jazz Kitchen much better, as well. However, I may have actually tried the ones is DL when they were gingerbread (holiday time). But I can't imagine being any better than Jazz Kitchen! Also, they will give a minimal discount if you're an AP holder (I think 10%).

aw you made me sad as I reminisced...I remember back in the day you could get them at Mint Julep bar and they came with this cooled apple custardy sauce that was to die for ....*sighs* i miss it:guilty:

oooh jack would you be willing to give the recipe??? i will trade you for the BB monte cristo recipe:thumbsup2

If I remember correctly, Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, where they originally started, sells beignet mix online.

We've had the beignets at Ralph Brennans and consider them to be almost as good as what you get a Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans.

I like the ones at RBJK better as well, they do taste a bit better. BUT there's nothing that compares to a Mickey shaped beignet IMO......yes, I do get them at CO because of the shape. lol

Anything tastes better when it's Mickey ear shaped! My vote for Cafe Orleans! :thumbsup2

The pomme frittes and the beignets are something I haven't tried yet at DL. I plan to that to change that this trip.

You really need to love fried dough... I tried at last the famous beignets at Jazz Kitchen, ordered 6 for our family of 5.. and left 4 untouched. Nobody liked them, very greasy and once they cool down, there were uneatable. To be fair, I am not a fan of doughnuts either, but the rest of my family is, and they were not thrilled. Just my 2 cents.
