I made my initial purchase of VWL through a reseller. We are considering adding on 100 BCV points for a February use year. I need to make a decision ASAP since there were only 672 points left and was wondering if anyone had any pros or cons to the magical beginnings program. Thanks!

Pros are that you will get a credit of $10 per point towards your purchase.

Cons are that you won't have the use of the Feb 2003 points. They can be used prior to Jan 31, 2004 or banked to be used next year. You will also pay prorated maintenance fees on the points purchased.

If you can use the points yourself, IMO they are more valuable being used for accommodations. If you can't get away before Jan 31 and have no use for them before Jan 31, 2005- then the $10 credit may work well for you.

Enjoy!

The biggest pro that I know if is less money out-of-pocket at the time of purchase. If cash flow is a consideration, that will help.

The MB cash back can be used as part of the downpayment. Combined with ease of using Disney for closing, and the fact that we did not plan on a further vacation at WDW this year before our Dec 2003 allotment of points came in (and that these points would be enough for our 04 plans) led us to use MB.

I agree with Doc though that if you have a specific vacation in mind that would use the points they are more valuable that way as opposed to being "sold" back for $10 each with the caveat that I see that as being especially applicable for Sun-Thurs night

Example Studio at OKW we rented for $10 a point - 10 points required so rate of $100 versus the "AEF" code rate applicable that was $184 per night plus tax. This was closed before we chose to buy DVC hence the point rental.

Thanks
