Benefits of Concierge?

Disneyholic,

If we were in the Royal suite, no way would we ever leave...not to swim, not for CC, not for anything.

I hope you have an amazing trip!

I should add that reading disboards is also VERY addictive!

indeed it is!! very very addictive!!! but in a good way :)

The 1BR is absolutely worth every penny! The extra storage room (we actually were able to store our stuff AND the bags of our friends who has a regular stateroom), the table to eat your hot room service breakfast, the jacuzzi tub, the extra large balcony, the ability to out our son in the sofa bad, close the door and enjoy some private time in the bedroom...

We will only cruise in 1BR's now... That means we will cruise every other year to save up the money but for us, its worth it, so so worth it!

I've done two concierge cruises on the new ships and I don't think I could ever go back to a regular cabin on those ships. My little tag line is true, "I am spoiled by concierge". It is so worth it on the new ships with the lounge and all it's amenities, the sun deck, and the staff.

On the Dream it was almost a lifesaver for me as I found the ship just too crowded and chaotic. (it was a 3 day) My Fantasy sailing wasn't full so it was more relaxed, but still I just loved the concierge areas. Julia, PJ, and Kemisha are top-notch. On the Dream Rodrigo really stood out.

On the two I've done before I shared a 1 bedroom suite with a good friend. We both thought however, that sharing with a friend isn't always great, as even at those prices one person gets the couch. So that's my one little gripe about suites on the new ships for those sailing with friends that do not want to sleep together.

Next year I'm going to do a Cat V solo. I'll miss the suite, but as much as I love concierge, I just can't do those prices for one person. However, I'm sure some think people who do solo cruises in a Cat V are nuts. But I'd rather sail less and get pampered.

I did leave the cabin, but I notice that we got far more use out of the cabin and veranda than we did on our regular veranda room when we sailed together on the Magic.

I can't really answer the question about ordering meals. I know you can in a Cat T or the Royals. The Royals can order Palo. They may have changed policies as far as a Cat V being able to order from the MDR's. I'm not counting on it, nor would I really want to as there is no table like there is in the suites.

Here is the answer my TA got from Disney:

I asked Disney Cruise Line and the "official" answer is no, but they know it does happen. The Category V staterooms do not have a dining table like the upper suite categories, so that is why the official answer is no. I was told that you would do best to ask stateside concierge when they contact you closer to your cruise date or ask the concierge staff on the ship. I was also told that if you are allowed to order dinner from the dining rooms to be delivered to your suite, you will only be able to order from the dining room you were assigned to on that particular night. For instance, if your rotation has you in Enchanted Garden that night, you will only be able to order food from the Enchanted Garden menu for that night.

I am sorry I couldn't get a more definitive answer. I was advised to tell you that it may be possible, but it would be best that you not expect it to happen.

~~So basically it could happen but it might not. I love the answers that disney gives sometimes. For us the 1 bedroom would cost us $3500 more then the concierge family suite and I just can't justify that when we could use that for another cruise or vacation. I am super jealous of those in the 1 bedroom though. I wish we could do it especially going with 3 little ones that go to bed by 930pm

We just stayed in a 1 bedroom conceirge suite on the Fantasy in May. Honestly, it is worth every penny. The lounge is wonderful - and you can have yummy snacks throughout the day, cocktails, etc. The private sun deck above the lounge is amazing. We found ourselves up there everyday at some point.

The conceirge staff is amazing too. The head was Julia. She made everything just PERFECT. If you have children, they really pay special attention to them. Our 2 year old daughter loved every second of all of the extra attention from them.

Our friends stayed in the family concerige stateroom and loved it. It was very roomy and they were 4 adults. 2 college graduates and their parents. And they had ton's of room.

Enjoy!

So it sounds that, perhaps, a Cat V could order a MDR room service meal if all the stars are aligned. It also sounds like it would be likely a one time per cruise thing. The context of the response from Disney does not sound wildly encouraging. I guess with all the Cat V cabins, Disney might have a major problem if all of them starting ordering MDR room service repeatedly.

Hi Daisy,
Our family has sailed in a cat V and really enjoyed every minute. The boys especially enjoyed the milkshakes and snacks in the lounge. There were four of us.
I could not imagine us being able to eat dinner in that stateroom though. I don't know where you would set up for service. Every item seems to have it's own seperate plate/serving dish and cover! Late night Room service snacks were a challenge enough for us. There just didn't seem :confused3there would be enough room. Just a thought.
I totally agree with PP's concierge is addictive:rotfl:

thanks! We would only be ordering for dh and I since the boys will only be 3 1/2, 2 1/2 and 10 months. We figured if we had to do it then we'd get food from the quick service restaurants for them. I'm really hoping we can eat in the main dining rooms every night except the night dh and I go to Remy or Palo. Oh my oldest will be in heaven if he gets milkshakes! He's my anything sweet lover.

I didn't want to start a new thread so thought I'd search for this one. In reading another thread today, I thought of another additional benefit in concierge: You don't have to lug your carry-ons around with you!!

Just make sure they have some sort of luggage tag with your room number on them. The concierge hosts will take them. Generally what they will do is place them right outside your cabin when they get a chance.

I did this on my February cruise. Probably was easy for them as my cabin was right there by concierge and I only had one bag. I might feel bad about doing it if I had tons of carry-ons and were on Deck 11 as they are pretty busy those first few hours getting everyone set.

If requested, the concierge team can store carry-ons in their very small office until your room is ready, at which time your carry-ons will be placed inside your room. This works well as long as not every concierge guest makes the request or has a lot of carry-ons. There is not a lot of space in their office. Since not all guests show up before 1:30 when all rooms are ready, it isn't normally a problem.

do they put them outside or inside your door?

To tell you the truth, I don't recall. Our cabin was right near the starboard side concierge door. It was very nice to not have to drag them around while we went to lunch.

Our last cruise we elected to not go to the buffet lunch, but had the food from the concierge lounge, and shortly after we did that our cabin was ready anyway. So didn't give them the carry-ons for that cruise.

They will put your held carry-ons INSIDE your room as soon as your room host has it ready. At least, this has been my experience but it may depend on your concierge team.

thanks! i wouldn't want my carry ons left outside my door.. i couldn't risk losing medicine in there..

i think i know the answer to this, but just to be sure...

concierge boards first at PC no matter when you do online check in, right?

i could do online check in today, but i'm not sure what info i'll need and if i don't know something, i won't be able to reach my sister until next week....

will i need our passport numbers?

I would think in that case if you told the concierge host that, they would make a point of having it put inside your cabin. The concierge team, especially on the Fantasy are incredible.

PJ walks on water as far as i'm concerned!!!!

but i'll be on the Dream - but i'm sure they're great on the dream too...

thanks for the heads up about being able to get rid of our carry ons before heading to lunch...
i really hated having to drag all our stuff with us on the Wonder....

Since you are concierge, it doesn't matter if it takes you longer to to the online check-in. Concierge people do not have to worry about boarding times or port arrival times, which is why so many people get up at 3 am to do online check-in - so that they get an early port arrival time. With concierge, you can arrive and check-in whenever you get there (as long as the terminal is open of course) At PC there is a separate concierge line, towards the back right-hand side of the terminal.

Yes, you will need passport numbers, or at least I think so. I've just always put that information in when I make a reservation to begin with.

You'll need credit card info for each of you, unless you are going to be responsible for you AND her as part of the online check-in is the payment authorization info. But with concierge - waiting to do online check-in is no problem! :goodvibes

If Rodrigo is on the Dream right now, you'll love him! I know one of the hosts that was there when I was on board in February went to a shoreside position. Not that the other two were not good, it's just that Rodrigo really stood out.

On the Fantasy all three were outstanding. Oh, PJ - love, love, love him! :flower3:
