Alison ... I know I'm a greedy girl when it comes to drink pours.![]()
Me too. My first thought was, Jeez...can they spare it? Oh well, it still looks lovely.

That's pretty much what I thought ... $35 per person, surely they can bring out the large eyedropper for everyone?![]()
Well, the beer dinner is out. Have spoken with management at The Scottish Arms twice, as well as the chef, and prepayment is required to book the dinner. I don't have a problem with that but they won't allow me to pay over the phone - I would have to drive there and pay in person. They are located 45 miles from our house - I'm not making an extra round trip like that just to have a beer dinner. And they're not conveniently located near where either one of us works and my schedule and Jay's are so crazy at work during the next two weeks that we couldn't take a long lunch to go buy tickets even if we wanted to.
So ... screw 'em if they don't want our money. If they don't want to meet us halfway then we won't go and they're out $100 and a lot of free word-of-mouth advertising from yours truly.
We just booked a single malt scotch tasting instead that's being hosted that night by The Wine and Cheese place. Not only is it $70 less expensive than the beer dinner, but we get to try 8 scotches! And it's over by 7:30 so we won't be out nearly as late as we would have been if we'd been able to convince the Scottish Arms to help us help them.
Heather ... your friend was on Lupron for two years?
The FDA only approves 12 months maximum and even the second 6-month course is frowned upon. She could have serious bone density issues because of that (along with other things). I blame the lurpon for a lot of my joint issues, none of which (other than my back) were ever a problem before I took those injections. All the lupron did was limit some of the lesion growth between surgery ... it did nothing to stop all those ovarian cysts from reforming. I ended up losing 3/4 of my right ovary and 1/2 of my left ... she did that rather than the H because of my age - didn't want me taking synthetic hormones at such a tender age I suppose. And it has been better since then but I take birth control three months straight followed by one month off with mother nature's curse. I'm dreading the day my GYN tells me I have to give up BC because of my age. At that point I may just tell her to yank it all.

Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale. It was pretty good. I only had one, as it's a regular beer and it has more calories than the crappy light beer that I drank in the hot tub.
Holy crap! What the heck?
Had the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale with dinner tonight. It was also nice. Southern Tier is still the clear winner here!
I try to tell as many people as possible about this [only benefits me in that I feel better when I use it...I don't own the company or anything, LOL]:
DD15 and I use this: http://www.hmenterprises.com/Howtousehpms.html
It's a very natural progesterone cream. For me, it's alleviated those "I'm getting older but not quite menopausal" symptoms, including bringing me back from the brink of "un-sane-ness" last year. I went from being curled up in a ball crying to functioning better than I have in years.
[Many of the moms in our homeschool group have started it also, and we're a much happier group now.
My dh says about me - "I don't care if it's just a placebo, we're going with it! LOL]
My dd uses it, and now can get of of bed on "day 1" and has shortened down from 9 days to 5 or 6. Another friend's young adult dd can get through the first couple of days without throwing up since using it.
Instructions for different circumstances are at the bottom of the page that I linked. When I'm not pregnant, I go through a tube in about 3-4 months.
Hope that helps someone, it's been a miracle for us, and didn't require a prescription or a male doctor telling me I'm crazy. Oy.
Morning...
Freezing my little![]()
butt off this morning... hit the upper 30's last night...
Here's a free download of Harry Connicks new song from Oprah.com...

My DH had the Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale too. Then I got him the Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale he said he liked that one better. Maybe you would like that one too.

I did not take any food porn last night. I went to The Melting Pot for the first time and had their fondue. I've been to another fondue place before, just not that one.
I didn't have the cheese fondue, but I had the entree and dessert fondues. I must say they were excellent, as was the glass of De Loach Pinot Noir.
This was a Girl's Night Out dinner with three friends, and we were originally going to eat at the Cooper's Hawk Winery/Restaurant, another place I hadn't been to. What did we do after indulging in fondue?
We went to Cooper's Hawk to do the wine tasting!
For $7, they gave samples of 8 wines, and boy they were fantastic! My favorite was a red wine I hadn't had before, a Barbera. Pronounced Bar-BEAR-ah, like the animator, not Barbara, like the name. That and the Petite Syrah were my faves.
I enjoyed them so much, I joined their wine club. Every month they charge you for a wine that you can either pick up at the place or have it shipped every three months. I chose the pick-up method. You had options to choose from, too. If you like whites, you can choose to have only whites. Or only reds. Or the "variety" option. Since they alternate white and red from month to month, you can pick any wine for your option, up to $20. I chose "reds", and October will be a red month.
And you earn points towards a $25 gift certificate towards dining in the restaurant, for every 350 points you make in purchases or dining in the restaurant. You get discounts on purchases and cases.
And their merchandise was awesome. I saw some great rhinestone tshirts with cute wine slogans on it. "Save Water, Drink Wine" and "Well Red" with a book and glass of red wine outlined in red rhinestones, all designs over black tshirts. I found pics of them on the internet, too.
And they have $65 wine event dinners that sound awesome, too.
You can shop online at their site http://www.coopershawkwinery.com/ and even join the wine club online. I think the prices were fairly reasonable with most wines $19.99 or less, except for their "lux" wines in the $35 range. I tried the Lux Merlot and didn't like it as much as the cheaper wines.
And here's something for Brenda: Looks like they are coming to St. Louis!Guess we'll have to keep checking their home page to see when the St. Louis location will be open. The one I went to is a new location in South Barrington, IL. The Wheeling, IL location is actually closer to me, and that's the one I'll be most likely to go to.
Ok, now I want to discuss my Gluttoberfest review. I was thinking about a rating system similar to Catherine's Simpsons Rating System.
I thought, why not have something related to Sleeping Beauty, since that's my favorite Disney film? So I devised the SKUMPS! Rating System, which I have not yet posted. I'm posting here first to find out from the friendies whether I should actually use these!
Yes, you are my guinea pigs! So let's start for the worst rating to the best rating.
First, we have King Hubert with the Bad rating:
![]()
"The food is so bad, I should cut the people responsible for cooking this mess with my rapier-sharp fish!"
Next, we have the Minstrel, in his first of many appearances with the Ok rating:
![]()
This means: "The food was perfectly ok to be served to the masses."
Next, we have the Good rating:
![]()
As in, "If you don't mind, my good man, I believe I'll have some more."
And now, the Excellent rating:
![]()
"This is excellent; too good to let any go to waste!"
And since Catherine pointed out that we need a Homer, a gastromic ecstasy picture, I finish with a Gluttony rating:
![]()
This should be self-explanatory.
This picture should state, "My excess of gluttony and sloth is a sight to behold. That's how good the food and wine were."

On another note, I'm working on my Mom to come with me next month. I've already waitlisted for another night at BCV and VWL and booked a night at WL just in case.
I hope she comes, we are very close and she wants to get away and relax by the pool for a few days and also do Disney (again)
