I am going to need to know what date/time we're drinking a toast. Need to write it on the calendar.:thumbsup2

Time to get the kids off to school and then go weigh in. If I would just stop drinking my flex points, I'd be losing faster....:rolleyes1

I just realized how much this thread is going to slooooooooow down in the next couple of weeks since so many of us will be in WDW. Do you think we'll be able to pick it back up and keep it going? I hope so ... I'd miss talking with you guys. :grouphug:

I'll be back, promise! :thumbsup2
Well, DH has declared that his current batch of home brewed beer is ready for consumption, so we've been enjoying that tonight. It's actually quite nice....he used a caramel wheat starter this time, and it's nice and hoppy with just a hint of sweetness in the finish. And I was gifted some yummy chocolates today....my boss was in London this weekend, and brought me back some Prestat truffles and chocolate bars. There are some unusual flavors amongst the truffles....saffron and ginger, violet fondant, rose fondant.....but I'm trying to pace myself!:rotfl:

What a great description you give of his latest home brew. Bet it's fun to try! Your chocolates sound divine! :goodvibes

Good luck Brenda!

I just booked air for Mom and we are staying an extra night :thumbsup2

Hooray!

I seem to have a little bug and not feeling great, hoping it passes soon.

don't worry, those of us stuck at home will come here for support while you're gone. I wouldn't want to lose any of you
Hope you feel better soon!
I enjoy my friendies, too! The next best thing to traveling is hearing about other's adventures. I love both. :cool1:

I need to mark the time, too. :thumbsup2

Drinking flex points is more fun, though. :rotfl:

My friend called this morning, wanted to know if hell is freezing over my way. :rotfl::rotfl: She glanced at the weather service link when she heard a bit about the forecast....

Sending good trip wishes to all who are leaving soon!!:cheer2:

I don't think your going to shake us that easily Brenda! :rotfl: I'm sure we'll all pick right back up when we return from our trips.

Meanwhile...Murphy's Law has struck at my house. A week until we leave and all of us have the flu (not the swine variety). It never fails that right before we go away we all get sick. Its like some twisted rite of vacation passage for us. :headache:

Oh Allison, I'm so sorry y'all are sick.:grouphug: Hoping everyone gets well and has an awesome trip!

You're right, this thread will be alive and well!!!:thumbsup2

Get well quickly, Allison!

Brenda - we have to keep this going... where else will we post our food porn?? Speaking of that, I have some to post, but I just don't have the time right now. Maybe in the morning??

Had the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale with dinner tonight. It was also nice. Southern Tier is still the clear winner here!

Ditto on the Southern Tier and don't forget the Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin!

Hi friendies! Hope everyone is doing well. I've really been MIA lately. Work has been crazy (which I guess is a good thing and gives me a small amount of job security:thumbsup2). Don't know how everything is going to get done before I leave so I'm just going to end up dumping a lot of stuff on my boss and other co-workers. I'll just tell them I'll be thinking of them while enjoying a Grey Goose slushie at Epcot! And I will seriously need a drink (or 2 or 3 -- okay who's counting...) by the time my trip rolls around -- I think I might have to start on the plane!!

Brenda, good luck on your colonoscopy on Thursday

Lori, love your rating system. I'll have to go and check out your report:thumbsup2

Brenda, sending you very, very best Friendie good wishes. :goodvibes

They continue to predict an unseasonably odd winter storm Wed night. We could have about 4-7 inches of snow. Ugh.... I need to get all my errands done tomorrow, because I don't want to be out driving in the first storm of the season. Too many drivers sorta forget they can't stop on a dime on slushy, snowy streets. ;) I will probably have to break down and wear a coat to the airport...the low is predicted to be 29. The truth is, I'm just not a snow bunny.:rotfl:
Thank heavens our Florida trip is just around the corner. :dance3:

Snow. :scared1: In September? :scared1: I don't even like snow in December when it's officially winter! Hope the report is wrong and if not stay safe and just think, you'll be in Florida soon! Last year when I was in Disney the last week in Oct, there was a cold front down the whole east coast -- caused some snow at home in NJ (which I was happy to miss -- nothing really big though) and the temps in Florida were highs of 60s to 70s the whole week. We froze at MNSSHP -- think it was in the 40s that night!

Congrats on the extra day, Deb! :cool1:

Gin, be safe ... the first snowfall is always the worst around here (along with the first rainfall, the first windy day, the first sunny day ... of each week. :lmao: ). Just think ... next week you'll be in Florida!

I would definitely love to keep this going -- I'm sure we'll all have more trips planned and more food porn to share well past these October trips:thumbsup2

I said it would have to wait, but I had a few extra minutes. Here is a quick review of our dinner out on Sunday evening. The pictures aren't great but all we had were our cell phones and it was getting dark.

Bistro Bethem is located in downtown F’burg and has a young, enthusiastic chef/owner with an adventurous hand.

My view from the table (we were indoors, but the doors were open):

0927092010.jpg

This spot offers ½ price bottles of wine on Sundays, so we always take advantage and get something we wouldn’t normally afford. This was no exception. We got a Crianza, which was jammy with lots of tannins. Yummmmm….

0927092009.jpg

Kristin had the Stuffed Quail: A brace of pumpernickel-cranberry-duck confit stuffed quail, local Shi take mushrooms. (the DIS ***ed it out!)

0927092021.jpg

Her friend had the Duck Breast: Orange-chili-cinnamon brined and wood oven airline duck breast, fried polenta, local mushrooms.

0927092022a.jpg

I had one of the specials, Cassoulet: Crispy leg of duck confit, housemade rabbit sausage, roasted mire poix and white bean ragout.

0927092022.jpg

I didn’t take photos of dessert. It had gotten quite dark by our table. But Kristin had their Coconut Cake and coffee with Frangelico. Ashley had Pots de Crème with House-made Chocolate Madeleines and Don Piedro Ximenez PX Gran Reserva Port-Style Sherry. I had another special: Granny Smith Cobbler with a Walnut topping. I had Warre’s “Otima” Tawny 20 year port.

There was only one part of the evening that was less than stellar. My view from the table about halfway through dinner. I was trying to be discreet, but it was hard. This woman was in her mid 30s at least and had on a skirt that was about 7 inches long. Honest! And her companion couldn’t keep his hands to himself. I finally had to ask that they close the doors!!

Elin, love the food porn! I may not be able to eat anything solid for the next two days but I loves me some pictures! :thumbsup2

And ... I caved. I went ahead and created a ratings system on the food review thread for next month, so go take a look when you have a chance. I couldn't resist joining in the fun and I think I hit on something that fits really well with our personalties ... Jay's and mine, I mean.

Who's ending this thread, where am I supposed to put the New York Food & Wine Festival food porn? That's only in a week and a half you know.

I'm not stopping ... but I was wondering if anyone else was going to want to keep going after this fall. That's why I mentioned it. Personally I think it's way too much fun to share all these great foodie trips to stop now. :thumbsup2

And...umm...I have three trips to Vegas in the next 5 months. Hoping it's OK to post a bit about our food adventures in the coming months. As soon as his meetings are done, we're usually off to find something delicious. :goodvibes

Feel better soon Alison and Chell and your families. :grouphug:

Thanks ladies. I agree about it being better to be sick now. I'm sure I'll be fine by this time next week. Just a minor nuisance.

Brenda: Good luck with the prep tomorrow. That is always the worst part. Fred had the old garden hose up the backside last month and we essentially had to vacate the premises while he did his day before preparations. All I can say is, may your Airwick be plentiful and make sure Jay takes you out for a great meal Thursday night.

Great looking dinner. I love duck so that would have been my pick and who can beat half price wine? :woohoo: Now that dinner show you had was quite funny. The only thing funnier is that you took a pic of the offenders, which is totally something I would have done. :thumbsup2

Have had that one too. I liked last year's batch better though. What about you?

I kind of have a moratorium on pumpkin beers this year (pumkin'd out I guess) - have been doing the O'fest's this year though although my favorite (Ayinger) is MIA locally.

I've been off the boards for a couple of weeks and was catching up on the thread...saw the Founders photo of the Breakfast Stout - great stuff and tough to find here (picked up some in MA a few weeks ago - perfect at 8:30AM at last Sunday's tailgate). Saints fans, you're next!

I agree...we have too much foodie and boozing fun to share to let the thread stop. I enjoy reading about everyone's experiences even if I don't always get to post as much as I'd like to.

I'm going to be looking forward to your Vegas reviews. We toyed with going in November for our anniversary, but I think we've decided to hold off for the Vegas Uncork'd 2010 in May. Your adventures will tide me over.

We're hoping for May 2010 as well ... we really want to try some events at Uncork'd and Jay deserves to be in a happy place on his birthday. His aunt and uncle live in Vegas and they love him to pieces and I know they will help me make it a special trip for him. Long story, but I refuse to allow him to stay in Stinktown for his birthday so that his parents can treat him like dung scraped from the bottom of their shoes. I want him to be around family who truly love and appreciate him for the wonderful caring person he is. :goodvibes

And he wants what I want. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think that Vegas is a perfect way/place to spend Jay's birthday. I used blackmail about needing to be in Vegas for Mother's Day...it worked. :rotfl: So if all goes according to plan, we could have a little Dis meet during our food and booze blitz. ;)

Elin, love the food porn! I may not be able to eat anything solid for the next two days but I loves me some pictures! :thumbsup2

Not only did I enjoy Elin's food porn, but I was cracking up at the garden variety porn she inadvertently encountered. :rotfl2:

And yes, you bandwagon jumper! Hop on the wagon right behind me! I liked the random nature of the ratings. It seems like you have two "bad" ratings, from blah to worse. But I enjoyed that. Sauron could use Brite Smile. ;)

Yeah, they better not close this thread because I have my own Vegas report to post here in November.

November's a good month for Vegas. :teeth: But I think the Uncork'd 2010 sounds terrific, too. Now get some fluids in you and fight that flu!

I think going to Vegas for a 40th birthday is a good thing. :rolleyes1
I could have stayed in town for mine, but I wouldn't have been treated like dung.
