I know some of our Friendies are big cheese lovers. here's a link to a nice article about cheeses and the folks who run The Mouse Catch kiosk during F&W:

....."Lisa Griffiths, director of sales and marketing for the West Pittston-based online cheese and gourmet food purveyor, said this will be igourmet’s fourth trip to the festival.

“Last year we did Dorothea. It’s goat gouda with basil and potato skin,” Griffiths said.

It was the first time igourmet offered the cheese from Holland at the event and the response was “overwhelming,” she said.

The others, Mahon and Piave, are newcomers. Mahon hails from Spain and is the second most popular cheese after Manchego. Piave is made in Italy and shares the name of the Piave River.

Drink pairings will be offered with the cheeses: Heineken Beer with Dorothea; Martini & Rossi Prosecco with the Piave; and Marques de Caceres Rioja with the Mahon.".....

Please keep our family in your prayers everybody--we lost my 81 year old dad on Thursday after many years of heart problems. His heart finally just wore out.

We've been staying at my mom's with Jim just coming back and forth to feed the cat and spend a couple of nights here. Olivia still doesn't want to come home so I may just let her stay another night. I think my mom is more okay with us going home than I am. This is just awful. I'm just glad to have you guys on here, too, because I know that will help soon. The funny thing is that I found out just how good my inlaws really are (even SILs) so I need to quit grouching about them.

Jamie I am so sorry to hear about your Dad :grouphug:

Does this mean we have to order all three boozes in order to properly enjoy and appreciate each cheese? ;)

I just stopped by to say I'm off to WDW.:cool1::cool1:

When I get back my life should return to usual and I won't be a stranger to this thread like I was during my new job training. I was going through disboard-withdrawl.

If anyone else is leaving this week I hope you have a safe trip and a great vacation. I will try not to eat all of the cheese in the Mouse Catch kiosk, so there's some for you October friendies.

...I make no promises

Thanks!

Can't wait to try the new cheeses. We loved the Dorothea last year. We were able to find an Italian market in town that sells it. So, we are able to indulge.

I've had piave, I think it's a bit like Parmesan or maybe a lot like Parmesan.

I just checked in for my flight and made sure Mom had her flights in the Magical Express database because she will kill me if they don't let her take the bus.

Maybe she'll want to go have some cheese first thing at 11 AM Friday.

oh joy ... preliminary blood work indicates that I may now be dealing with an underperforming thyroid. So after the intestinal "probing" next week I have to try to get into my internist for a thyroid follow up and possible referal to an endocrinologist (sp???). I swear ... every year that we go to WDW there is a new health bugaboo that rears its head.

If it really is my thyroid then at least I have the cold comfort of knowing that the weight gain isn't my fault. :rotfl2:

I can't even be upset anymore ... this chronic stuff is piling on to the point where it's becoming absurd. :lmao:

On a happier note, I tweaked our ADRS one last time today and I ordered something nice for us to share from the WDW florist - it should be delivered three weeks from today. :thumbsup2

Brenda  Let's hope they get this all taken care of for you!

Brenda  Let's hope they get this all taken care of for you!

Thanks Elin. It will be fine ... I'll just add another pill to the daily cocktail. On the phone today my GI told me, half jokingly, that he thinks my immune system has short circuited. :lmao:

And I told him that I will never run out of things to talk about when it's time for me to move into the old folks home. :rotfl2:

My cat had a bad Thyroid .. we just stuck goop in his ear twice a day .. so just have Jay hold you down and do this!

Brenda! all our love!:flower3:

I hope the old folks home has free internet so you can still post!:lmao:

Well its half the battle to know what your dealing with. I have hypothyroidism and take Synthroid. Good news is that it will halt your weight gain caused from underactive thyroid...bad news is it won't take off anything you gained. I know its frustrating so hopefully you'll get some answers from your endocrinologist. If you do get meds to regulate your thyroid, be careful with booze intake...some people lose all tolerance to alcohol when on thryoid meds-not always, but it happens. I was warned, but for the most part I don't drink in any great quantities, save for the F&W Festival. If it makes you feel better I started falling apart right around 40 too...just luck of the draw I suppose. :sad2:

Thanks for the info Alison - all good stuff to know. Watch the booze, huh? I usually save most of mine for vaction, too, so it shouldn't be too hard.

We can start a club ... Falling to Pieces at 40. ;)
