oh joy ... preliminary blood work indicates that I may now be dealing with an underperforming thyroid. So after the intestinal "probing" next week I have to try to get into my internist for a thyroid follow up and possible referal to an endocrinologist (sp???). I swear ... every year that we go to WDW there is a new health bugaboo that rears its head.

Hoping this all gets straightened out for you.

On a happier note.. I leave for DW on Friday! Whooo!
Cathy

:yay: Have fun!!!!!

Just stopped by to say I'm heading for the airport then off to WDW :banana:

Have a safe, fun-filled time!!!!:cool1:

If it really is my thyroid then at least I have the cold comfort of knowing that the weight gain isn't my fault. :rotfl2:

I can't even be upset anymore ... this chronic stuff is piling on to the point where it's becoming absurd. :lmao:

On a happier note, I tweaked our ADRS one last time today and I ordered something nice for us to share from the WDW florist - it should be delivered three weeks from today. :thumbsup2

Brenda maybe we can start the under active thyroid club. I've had my problem for almost 12 yrs. Atleast you'll know the problem. Before I leave for F&W I get to do a sleep apnea test. Maybe this is part of me turning 40:confused3? It'll get better:goodvibes:flower3::hug:.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. You have no idea how much that means to me. You guys are really good friendies. :grouphug:

Brenda, I just can't believe another diagnosis--here's hoping that relief is just a pill away. We also had a cat with thyroid problems but his was hyperthyroid, so poor thing had to get a pill shoved down his little throat twice a day. Not fun.

Thyroid can make you REALLY tired, and it's sort of amazing that about 3-4 weeks after starting treatment, suddenly you start to feel so much better.
I had no idea what was wrong with me, let it go for too long until my hair started falling out. :scared1: (Yet another of the odd symptoms of low thyroid...) Once they found the right dosage for me, it gradually grew back. :thumbsup2
Hoping the testing you're going through will assist the docs to come up with a good plan that will have you feeling better soon!:cool1:

Please keep our family in your prayers everybody--we lost my 81 year old dad on Thursday after many years of heart problems. His heart finally just wore out.

We've been staying at my mom's with Jim just coming back and forth to feed the cat and spend a couple of nights here. Olivia still doesn't want to come home so I may just let her stay another night. I think my mom is more okay with us going home than I am. This is just awful. I'm just glad to have you guys on here, too, because I know that will help soon. The funny thing is that I found out just how good my inlaws really are (even SILs) so I need to quit grouching about them.

Jamie, I am so sorry for your loss  I know it's hard right now, but it will get easier. It's been 9 years since I lost my mom, so unfortunately I have some experience with this. If you need anything, just let us know!

I just stopped by to say I'm off to WDW.:cool1::cool1:

When I get back my life should return to usual and I won't be a stranger to this thread like I was during my new job training. I was going through disboard-withdrawl.

If anyone else is leaving this week I hope you have a safe trip and a great vacation. I will try not to eat all of the cheese in the Mouse Catch kiosk, so there's some for you October friendies.

...I make no promises

Have a great trip!

I hope the old folks home has free internet so you can still post!:lmao:

Everyone going down there this week have a safe and magical trip. Hopefully we'll see each other down there. F&W here we come:thumbsup2

Have a great time! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back :yay:

Bendy I hope they figure out whats going on with your body, you must be ready to trade it in for a new model!

On to happier news, Bendies birthday celebration is 3 weeks from tomorrow :dance3: :dance3:

I'm hypothyroid (mine is actually Hashimotos Disease where the thyroid produces antibodies that destroy itself somehow) and they can get that under control with the hormone supplement pills. It took time for the endocrinologist to figure out the dosage I needed and I have to take these pills forever, but I'm pretty extremely hypo. But the pills are not expensive and the biggest deal there is remembering to take one every day.

Since you did say you were trying to lose weight- it's also possible weight gain is associated with hypothyroidism so it might be easier to lose weight if you've got that going on and they start treating it.

I take my thyroid pill everyday before getting out of bed. Then by the time I up dress and downstairs I can take the rest of my medicine. My problem is remembering to take my night medicines:rolleyes1. Getting older is so much fun:rolleyes:.

I have a thyroid problem too. I found out about it when I was in high school. I was not losing any weight, and was always tired, among other things, and my mom thought I was pregnant, which I knew I wasn't, since that would've been impossible. She didn't believe me when I said I couldn't be, so she dragged me to the doctors, and I was diagnosed.

There must be a hypothyroid pandemic, because I just started the lowest dose of Synthroid somewhere about 6 months ago.

Work's almost out, gotta go catch the train and bus to the airport. Headed for the Ditch

I'll be back to read after dinner...

On the PC repo, one of our Thieves, Vicki, fell and broke her wrist in Acapulco :scared1:- well, today we just got news that Cheri, another thieve, who is ON the Magic right now (sea day...) slipped on a puddle outside the Outlook Bar and broke her ulna... (arm).... :scared1::scared1:

Now we're trying to figure out what to bring with us to Alaska so that nobody slipps on a glacier or something.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: My brother used to have sneakers with sucktion cups on them (he went to school in Canada...) Broom ball shoes I think...

Maybe we should have just done of survery of who isn't hypothyroid...the list would have been shorter. :rotfl: I just figured it had to do with getting old, but that was just my assessment.

not me... but I found out today my cholesterol sucks... :rotfl2:

We need to rename this the hypothyroid-thread. :grouphug:

Have a great trip Catherine!

BTW ... Birthday party is three weeks from Saturday (it's on the 17th) ... don't want anyone to miss the fun. :goodvibes

I'm going to tell you guys a little story that will demonstrate just why I loves my hubby so much.

Today purely by accident while I was multi-tasking at work I found a little blip about a beer dinner that The Scottish Arms is hosting next month. Turns out it's on the evening of October 13th ... the night before we leave for WDW. Being me I still had to call the restaurant to ask about the price and the menu. And then I had to email Jay with the details.

$50 per person, beginning at 7PM that night:

1) Beer & Cheese Soup served with Smithwicks
2) Some kind of salad served with Hoegaarden
3) Braised Short Ribs served with Belhaven Ale
4) Stuffed, Smoked Quail served with Spaten Optimator
5) Figgy Pudding served with Belhaven Wee Heavy

Jay's email response to me was this:

FIGGY PUDDING!!!!

In Jay speak that usually translates to go ahead and book the dinner. Since we're both taking a full two weeks off we have plenty of time to pack and get organzied before we leave. So by Tuesday night we're just going to be sitting around watching the clock tick off the minutes. And, the reason I loves my Jay so much ... he said, "I know how much you wanted to try to get to WDW a day early so we could go to that signature dinner at Raglan Road. Now we can still have a beery signature dinner and it will be like a pre-vacation celebratory glutton-fest."
