I read somehwere that all the princesses are out with their princes, is this right?
I know I saw Snow White and her prince, and Belle in her Christmas dress with the Beast. I'm also pretty sure that Cinderella and Prince Charming and Aurora and Phillip were in Toontown, and Jasmine and Aladdin were in Adventureland.

Finally feeling alive...

Off tomorrow for lunch for the Anniversary of my birth... anyone want to come?

Happy Birthday! I hope it's a good one!

I have to go back and read like 25 pages to get caught up...

Takes me back to my daily reading every day from the PC repo... they were (and ARE) a talkative bunch... :rotfl:

Jamie - I would do the MVMCP if you can fit it in. I think you all will really enjoy it.

I just booked another December trip, complete with a MVMCP! :rotfl: I can't give up the chance to spend two nights in an AKV (Jambo House, I believe) for free with my friends! Plus I got terrific airfare coupled with two $25 vouchers from AirTran that brought my total cost to $109.20 for the flights. I ordered my MVMCP ticket and printed it out. Other than food and towncar transportation from MCO, I am set! :yay:

ETA: I guess I will have to have a two-pronged PTR for December.

Hooray for you! What a bonus! I think we're going to go ahead with MVMCP; when I broached the subject last night, dh was not opposed. He grunted favorably while doing his crossword puzzle. Actually we were in the car waiting for dd's piano lesson to be over so I had a captive audience. :rotfl2:

We went last year in December, and other than my DD21 being sick the whole time from what turned out to be complicated appendixitis, it was great. We loved MVMCP, wasnt crowded at all the night we went, make sure to get the hot chocolate and cookies. Other favorites were the Candlelight Processional, it was worth the whole trip just seeing that :goodvibes, and seeing the Osborne Lights. Make sure you leave enough time to resort hop esp to the GF. Walking into the lobby and seeing that beautiful tree and smelling the gingerbread from the gingerbread house was fantastic. :)

Yep, that's all the stuff I am trying to squish into 6 days! Mentally I think we're all finally in the place where we know we'll be back, so we don't have to ride everything, spend every minute in a park.

Finally feeling alive...

Glad you're feeling human again and

:bday:party::dancer:

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Well I didn't really get to take any pics last night.. place was hopping!
It was the start of Restaurant Week and people in Dallas do like their food!
I did find a couple of pics online though...

Chris and I met some friends at Hector's on Henderson at 6:00 and we spent about 2 hrs on our meal. We had a great time, ate fabulous food. listened to some really good live music and drank some really good booze :P
All in all a perfect Saturday evening.
hectors2.jpg

Chris started out with the Chicken Fried Chicken Livers, served with Caramelized Cippolini Onions and Blackstrap Molasses Vinaigrette.
chickenliver.jpg

Now I don't usually like liver but OMG they were amazing! Hector came by our table during the evening to check on us and told us he loves them so much, they were the first thing he insisted on putting on the menu for this week.
The taste was very delicate and not overpowering or irony tasting at all.

I started with the Hector's favorite - a basic salad with avocado, cheddar cheese and spicy micro greens, but they topped ith with their version of a ranch style dressing, full of lots of fresh herbs, very flavorful.

Our friends ea got the Hector's favorite and the Spinach Salad - Applewood Smoked Bacon, Pickled Red Onions, Blue Cheese, Spicy Nuts, Honey Dijon Dressing. They said they ea loved their selections.

For our entrees, Chris got the Hector's Stack - Sirloin cooked Med Rare served on top of House made Grilled Sourdough Bread and layered with Spicy Bacon Hash Browns, a Fried Egg and topped with a Cayenne Hollandaise sauce. I snuck some bites of this as well. Steak was tender and the sauce - Wow! Spicy but in a good way, KWIM?

For my main course I choose the Pan Seared Sea Bass served with a white cheddar risotto and a lobster bisque that they used as the "sauce" for the dish. It was delicate and flaky - melted in my mouth..
seabass.jpg

Our friends ea got the Hector's Stack and the Grilled Salmon. It must have been good because it was gone in a flash :P

For dessert, we ea got something different - Chris got the house made Tiramisu, I got the Banana Choc. Moon Pie, SOOO good!, Elizabeth got the Candy Apple Creme Brulee and Mike got the triple Chocolate Chip Brownie.
At this point we basically were all trading plates around the table. Everything was so good!

All of this was $ 35.00 per person, and a portion of ea meal goes to the Food Bank of North Texas. Now, there are a lot of food message boards in the DFW area that are full of "foodies" and restaurant owners bemoaning Restaurant week and the fact that a lot of people who come out to the restaurants are only there for the "great meals at cheap prices."

Hector's was the exact opposite. They were truly glad to see the diners.
Hector went around to ea table and personally thanked them for not only coming to his restaurant, but for supporting the North Tx Food Bank.
Also, and this is something no other restaurant has done for us during restaurant week, when our check was brought out to us, inside were gift certificates for ea of us for our next visit.

We truly had a wonderful time and we can't wait to use our Gift Cert's.. I'm thinking my B-Day dinner in Oct would be perfect :cutie:

Next up is Ruth Chris steakhouse for our anniversary dinner and to use up a Gift Certificate from Christmas.. We're lucky our anniversary falls in the middle of Restaurant Week every year
Not that we planned that or anything:rolleyes1

Cathy

This sounded like a wonderful meal. It is one talented chef who can make chicken livers taste good! I am still drooling over the dessert pictures you posted yesterday, mmmm.

Glad it was such a success!

I know I saw Snow White and her prince, and Belle in her Christmas dress with the Beast. I'm also pretty sure that Cinderella and Prince Charming and Aurora and Phillip were in Toontown, and Jasmine and Aladdin were in Adventureland.

Thank you for verifying that, Carolyn. I knew I had read here and there that we could find some princesses at the party! DD has a Belle Christmas dress if she doesn't outgrow it in the next few months. She loves to dance around the house in it so it gets lots of time outside of the closet!

For those wondering about the Fireworks Dessert Buffet... there is still no sign of it being extended in the WDW systems.

I'm surprised those threads weren't locked ... the mods are fast enough to lock down every other rumor that pops up. :confused3 I checked a couple of different places yesterday looking for confirmation that MK was extending the dessert party and couldn't find anything.

the thing is, there were definite dates involved. I think it will be extended, but I think someone let it slip to someone on these boards who just couldn't keep it to themselves. And Disney has a lot of "stuff" to put into their system before booking can take place.

Think about it: It can only be booked when there is a showing of Wishes, and not on nights when there is something special happening in the MK, like MNSSHP or MVMCP. That is going to be a booking nightmare if people aren't aware of that.

:cool1: How cool! Sounds like a lot of fun and if you haven't checked out Kidani Village yet, take a little time to go over there. It's beautiful :thumbsup2

Somehow I forgot to comment on the party :confused3 We love it, it is less than it used to be, but what isn't at Disney nowadays :sad2: Still good though :thumbsup2

You're right it's a complicated schedule to work out. Still hope they do it, it looked pretty cool when we were there but didn't fit our plans.

Woo hoo!!:banana:Someday I would love to be able to go to WDW with my best friend for a few days....she's also a Disney fiend. But we both have kids and she's a teacher as well, so it always seems like we can't get a time that works for both of us.

Cathy, this looks wonderful! Have a great time at Ruth Chris....they are hands down my favorite chain steakhouse. I used to get to go at least once a year because my former employee gave out $100 gift certificates to there for the Employee of the Month prize. Sadly, I now work for my family....which means now all I get for being a great employee is a round of free babysitting now and then!:lmao:

Finally feeling alive...

I finally got an answer to an e-mail I sent to Disney a couple of weeks ago asking about the Wine View Lounge. This was the reply.

"While we appreciate your concern, at this time we have not received complete information on the questions that you have asked. What we do know is that there will be a limited open bar and some premium artisan cheeses that will not be at the regular tables included with this pricing. As usual, EPCOT Events is well versed in crowd control so we feel sure that it will be well coordinated and that perhaps a special badge or wristband will be provided for those attending the upgraded portion. As more information is released, it will be posted on the website. We apologize that we are unable to give you any further details at this time."

That didn't really give any more info then I already had though.

That's a bummer. I hope it does come to pass though because I'd book it for our trips in a heartbeat!

WOW! UGH! Well, we went for it on both PFTS and have the upgrade. I am wondering what a Limited Open Bar is??!! It's sounds like going to the Mirage all you can eat buffet but then they only let you go through once!

I love the event and we thought for us the events are usually worth it .. it would be nice if before they make you pay for a non-refundable event they work out the details of what it is going to be in the 1st place though .. just a thought..:confused3

Maybe 'Limited' is the same as saying 'When its gone its gone, sorry folks'!
Roughly 5 1/2 weeks until the first Party and they can't answer the question, ay carumba!

My first post on Bendy and her fabulous foodie friendies thread! A rite of passage I'm sure ... I think a luncheon Bloody Mary is in order!

:welcome: to the 24 hour buffet of food talk!

Hopefully the "limited open bar" for you all won't mean "limited to what you wouldn't want to drink much of anyway".

It's a Sunday Java Miracle... we call it: The Cuisnart Coffee Resurrection!!!

:worship::worship::worship:

Turns out we were both so tired that neither one of us noticed that we'd tripped a breaker. There was nothing wrong with the coffee maker (thank you, oh merciful and omnipotent gods and goddeses of the caffeinated bean) but the outlet was dead. It never dawned on either one of us to try to move the coffee maker and try it again ... until we went to make iced tea a little while ago. :lmao:

We just saved ourselves a trip to the mall and some money for a change! :thumbsup2
WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a scare! :rotfl: Greg would have been in an all out panic if that happened at our house!!

Thank you everybody for your experiences with MVMCP--I'm thinking, I'm thinking. I originally thought no, since we'll get to see the parade and fireworks later in the trip if Disney does as they have in the past. Part of me still wants to go since we are emphasizing seeing all the Christmas festivities we can pack in. :santa:

I read somehwere that all the princesses are out with their princes, is this right?
:thumbsup2 I loved MVMCP..and we went sans any children of any kind..I absolutely love Christmas ANYTHING so that might have been why I loved it so much, but it really was a great Disney event. I have not been to MNSSHP myself..so that will be a first for us this October ..can't wait!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather was wonderful by us and i got to go to a really nice bridal shower for a friend that was at a winery..it was SUPER hot and humid though, but other than that it was really n ice, they served tea sandwiches and cheeses..light faire...Yesterday we got to go to the beach"ish" down in Marion MA where his family has a bunch of land..that was really fun..we swam in the ocean with our dog Chief..and of course got a yummy "summer shack" lunch of cheeseburgers and icecream..mmmmmmmm

Just a little update though, my family did have to put our cat to sleep Friday. It was very very sad and i spent most of the weekend crying, but I think we are all feeling better about it now knowing we did the right thing by her...she showed a few signs of improvement but they were shortlived. she was very sick without any chance of getting better. My mom stayed with her so that gives me comfort as well. So thank you again for all your good thoughts last week..she is definitely in a better place now

Happy Birthday, Michelle!

:bday: :cake: :bday: :cake:

And wow, Cathy. That Hector sure knows his way around a kitchen! The meal sounded incredible, and a bargain, too! Yum.

Hey, welcome to the friendliest boozy food chat on this forum. ;)

I understand Disney's definition of "limited" from other PFTS. Case in point: The thimble-ful of Sam Adams Utopias. Once you got your thimble, you were supposed to moooove along like the cattle we were. But there were quite a few people getting more than that. If you got to the table halfway through the party, "Sorry folks, we ran out." I didn't realize how lucky I was to get my thimble-ful.

Happy Birthday Michelle!!!!!

Welcome redzinner!!!!

I'm going to try and keep up here now since my boy is settled into his apartment in Baton Rouge. I cooked a pot of red beans & rice for them on Saturday and I asked them if they'd like a shrimp pasta dish next weekend. I figure if I can send some food up once or twice a month they'll keep inviting me. So far this plan is working like magic.;)
