Hi all,

I have to chime in on this one. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY!!!! That's fantastic about your weight loss, congratulations.

I turned 50 on July 28th and was having a really hard time with it. I just don't feel like 50?? Does anyone know what I mean??

My husband keeps asking "Well, what is 50 supposed to feel like?"

I keep alot of things like this to myself, but I feel I could let it out here. I guess I will always be a kid at heart.

Reading all your replys really helps!!

Happy birthday to you!!! I'm thinkin' 50 should be whatever we want it to be--how's that sound? I'll join you in being a kid at heart.
On a quick note--in a couple of months I will have outlived both my parents. That's thought provoking, no doubt about it. On the other hand, I'm just sincerely glad to be here. In the end I think our lives are full of opportunity. It's about the people we cherish, love, enjoy, treasure. I'm not totally crazy about the number :rotfl:, but, hey, we're still having fun, living our lives as we choose. That's pretty cool!!! :dance3:

Ok... everyone pray for nice weather on the 17th... I turn 45 and I'm not happy about it...

I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I've learned you really don't have much control over the number :lmao: so you might as well enjoy it!

You'll are doing better then me. I was freaking out in February when I turned 25 that I was halfway to 50.

Thanks for the birthday greetings,!! Be sure to take time to smell the roses and really enjoy your mid-20's.:dance3::banana:

 :lmao: I'll let you know if it would be kill-worthy! or maybe a trade could be worked out for Dinner in Disneyland?? ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Wow, what a way to turn 50! Congratulations on the weight loss & the birthday! Enjoy your Chandon, you deserve it. :goodvibes

Julie & Julia was very good! DD & I really liked it. Meryl Streep really WAS Julia Child, she was brilliant. :thumbsup2

I love Brats & sauerkraut! Enjoy the German food!

Thanks so much for the kind wishes! I'm still sipping the Chandon, it's just lovely. :goodvibes I think Dh and I will go see Julie and Julia next week. Meryl Streep is just the best in (I think) anything!

Happy 50th!!! :goodvibes

I had mine down at WDW and really enjoyed it. Hope yours is great for you too. pixiedust::bday:pixiedust:

jeminni, I've met you and you can't be 50!! Are you sure you didn't mean
to type 40? :goodvibes

just got home from our Trivia Night ... a good evening all around. Our table finished 2nd for the night, one point out of first place - we won $100 ($25 per couple) and there were 35 tables filled with teachers and school district administrators, so there was some good competition.

Jay also won an attendance prize ($10 GC to an Eye-talian restaurant) and I won a silent auction bid for Cardinals tickets next Saturday. :cool1: I paid $100 for $250 worth of tickets ... pretty sweet!

Blissventure ... happy 50th to you and congrats on the weight loss!

Jeanne ... I had no idea you turned 50 this year! You look younger than me, so you must be doing something right (please tell me your secret). So happy belated birthday to you!

And happy belated birthday to DisneyFav ... I have to say that 25 didn't bother me but for some reason 30 did. I will admit that (so far) the idea of turning 40 this year doesn't bother me. Mentally I've been stuck on 27 for about 15 years.

I'm just happy that I still get carded a lot. Some lady asked me the other day what grade I was going into at school, and I could've kissed her, she thought I was only 17 or so.

I never got carded very much, even when I should have been. Jay tells me that it's because I look intimidating. I said that the only reason I walk around with a fierce, squinty look on my face is because I'm actually trying to see. :rotfl2:

Alright ... I think I gotta get some sleep. Been up since 6AM this morning and it's been a long day for this fragile flower. See ya'll in the evening with some tasty beverages to share. :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday, Gin, and congrats on the weight loss. I lost just about the same as you, too. :goodvibes

Although I probably put some of it back, because after the funeral (which was actually quite nice except for the rain), there's a ton of food at our house from the shiva. A shiva, for those who are not Jewish, is sort of like having a wake. But at the mourner's house. And people bring in food. Did I mention that people bring in a TON OF FOOD? :scared1:

It's not supposed to take place on Friday, but we did it anyway. And guess what? More of the same gorge-fest tomorrow night. I will start to look like Mr. Creosote in Catherine's signature. Just another wafer thin mint. KaBLAM!

Tomorrow I weigh in. I'm guessing a 4 lb. gain.

I hope you have a great time at the HM event at DL, Catherine. And I really wish I was having the wine party tomorrow night. After tomorrow night, I will NEED some wine.

Lori, I'm glad you're doing okay. These kinds of things are so hard. We feed big down here after a death, too. It's just a sea of Kentucky Fried Chicken buckets and Krispy Kreme boxes.

Keeping you in my prayers. :goodvibes

Yeah, I think everyone feeds big right after a funeral. Sometimes I think it's easier for people to show they care by giving something tangible that they hope provides comfort. Even though we've all lost loved ones it is so hard to find the right words to convey to someone who's grieving that you feel for them and their family. At least ... it's hard for me to do that.

Lori, you've been in my thoughts all week and I hope that as time passes the lifetime of memories you have of your wonderful nana will bring you comfort.

Ok... everyone pray for nice weather on the 17th... I turn 45 and I'm not happy about it...

So... I'm thinking of hauling my big fat A$$ up to Saratoga and betting at LEAST $2 on a horse.... then I might hunt down a Saratoga Sunrise just cause I NEED to drag home yet ANOTHER souvineer glass... then I might join in with the track workers and collect cans out of the garbage so I have enough money to come back on my 46th birthday and do it all again... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think spending the day at Saratoga is a wonderful way to spend a birthday but then I grew up with racehorses and love going to the track!

Random ramblings...

I got my F&W booklet in the mail last night. I didn't think I would get one this year since our APs and TIW have both expired and won't get redone until we get there in October.

This weekend I am going to PA for MagicMeets2009. I have never been to one of these meets but know many of the people who are presenting it and lots of the attendees. Bob was supposed to go with me. He has "chosen" to do something else instead. This is one of the reasons staying married for 36 years is so hard, friends. My feelings are hurt and I am angry, to boot. He doesn't "get" the hurt part, only sees the "mad" (that, I think, is a man thing). He neglected to take into account that we had prepaid the tickets. That money is non-refundable. Additionally he broke his promise to attend with me to keep one he made (after the fact) to someone else. :snooty:

I got my F&W book on Thursday and was so excited to thumb through it-even if everything was posted online already. Enjoy MagicMeets and give us a full report when you get back. Don't feel too bad about Bob cancelling on you-my Fred does stuff like that on occasion. Its definitely a man thing.

Well, my baby was off to third grade today. Not in class with her best friend, but there are several girls she knows well, so I think it will be a good year. No tears, just smiles and a hug for me when I left her in her classroom! Where did summer go???:beach:

Awwww! I love the first day of school. I always made a huge production out of it (much to my kids dismay). The schools here don't go back until September 8th, but I'm sure you guys get out way ahead of us.

Ok, this is where I need everybody's input, should I just do the Disneyland report (2 days), or do a whole trip report and figure out where to put it on the California boards? There are more food pictures if I do the whole thing. You guys have to promise to read and comment because I've never done a TR before! :teeth:

Do the whole report! Now I do require direction, so please pimp here and I will be sure to follow over to wherever you are. I rarely carouse the TR boards, so I have to be led over there like a puppy.

Happy Friday to Y'all!!

I'm heading out for lunch & a movie with my DD today. Going to see "Julie & Julia".

DH surprised me with an unusual reservation for Sunday night. Dinner at Emeril's for Indian Food! Apparently all of Emeril's local rests are doing summer promos of Cuisines of the World. Here's the menu:

I can't wait to see this movie! I'm waiting until I can get most of the family together to go see it. The dinner at Emeril's sounds heavenly. That's a good man you have! ;)

Well, Bendies. It's here. I'm 50 years old today. Older, but not any wiser, I guarantee that. Hubby gave me a dozen pink roses today, they are my very favorite. :flower3:
It's been a challenging year...and I decided to make some changes. Since last Oct I lost 48 pounds. When you go from an 18W to a 12P it's a big adjustment, mentally and physically.

Happy late Birthday! Wow, 48lbs is a lot! I can't even imagine the dedication that takes. Congratulations!!

Our house has been unusually quiet now that Drew is gone. He's been in classes from 8am-9pm and is dying. I've been getting calls each night in the wee hours after he's hung out with his buddies. I can't even remember what he really says to me since he's woken me up out of a dead sleep two nights in a row. I'm hoping later today I can get a coherent review of his past few days.

Now I see the aging process has been a topic of conversation. Here's my .02-for me, 20, 30, 40...all meaningless. I never let the number bother me and to be honest when the doctor or someone else asks how old I am I have to pause and start doing the math before I answer. (This also may be a sign of senility). In a few short years I will be doing the 50 dance and I haven't given it a second thought. Last year at F&W I got PO'd, not flattered, when some kid at the Greece booth asked me for ID for my booze. Yesterday at the bank I was talking with the manager who had to be at best 30 and he commented that I did not look old enough to have a son in college. I know I'm probably weird, most women would be gushing...but I just rolled my eyes at this guy and told him I was old enough to be his mama. The only time I feel old is when I look at my kids. Otherwise, I am still quite the kid at heart. I think age truly is a state of mind.

I lost 45 lbs over the past year, I know how hard it is. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

and :bday:

Holy cow, you guys are making me feel like the lazy sloth that I can. Diet and exercise are dirty words for me.

We put on the proverbial feed bag after a funeral here too, but we Italians will take any excuse to put out a spread. Food is definitely comforting and like you Brenda, I stumble on the rights words to say also. I think its because we know that words are so inadequate when you or someone you love has lost someone.

Thanks!! I totally agree with you.

I lost both my parents also. My mom passed away at 56 and my dad at 67. She had heart disease and he cancer. I have been thinking about them more lately. Both looked so young when they passed, but then again they were young.

I guess too that I seem to heed their passing and try to keep as healthy as I can. My mom always yo yo-ed her weight and I do that alot so I have been trying lately to keep it down.

So here's to 50 years young!! ;)

Jeanne ... I had no idea you turned 50 this year! You look younger than me, so you must be doing something right (please tell me your secret). So happy belated birthday to you!

Thanks for the compliment!!!

Marcel says I come from a "dun-a-die" family. My grandmother just passed this last year at 98 and she looked no older than 60!! Unbelievable.

Secret - maybe it's all the wine I drink - it preserves me!! Hey, I had a grandfather that for breakfast all he had was a loaf of bread, olives and a jug of wine!! He also lived a long life.

Thanks to all of you for helping me feel better about everything!! I have to write on here more often.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at Brenda's DIS Meet!! We are thinking of bring some nice port or dessert wine!!

I'm just checking in early ... have a nice French Rose chilling in the refrigerator. I wanted to find the one that we tried at our French Regional Lunch last fall but no one around here carries it so we improvised this afternoon.

Here's hoping we made a good choice. :thumbsup2

I'm gonna be lurking, been down with an ear infection and vertigo for a few days so I'm looking forward to y'all having a great time!:goodvibes

hope you start to feel better soon, Kat. I've always been lucky to have no trouble with my ears ... I'm a vulnerable throat and mucked up sinus cavity kinda gal. :rotfl2:

Feel better

Not caught up, and it doesn't look like I'll be drinking with ya tonight. MIL is in the ER again and I'm not sure if we're gonna have to go down there or not :sad2:

Oh, was there a time we were supposed to start?
