Warning - depressing, feel free to skip -I haven't been around as much, kinda lurking. I do want to share with y'all what's going on (thanks Elin) ~ three years ago my sister-in-law lost her son at age 19 to drugs. Within a year she and her husband divorced and she was drinking heavily and on pain pills. She is now dying, her liver is shot. From what the doctors told us a few days ago she doesn't have much time so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers if so inclined. The saddest part is my poor MIL, 92, keeps saying she didn't want to live long enough to bury a child.:sad1:

 Kathy. Thanks for the wishes for pixie dust my way everyone, as well. Nana is still hanging on. She's got a strong ticker.

I was glad to see things normal around here, with beautiful food porn from Alison, and even a special guest appearance by Guy Incognito. ;)

I am fine with Melissa getting a show. I'm glad it's either her or Jeffrey, as you know nobody wanted Debbie to win.

Your Nana sounds like a strong willed woman, Lori. And you are so right....I would have boycotted TNFNS forever if Debbie had won. Was it wrong that I laughed when Michael clocked her in the eye with that cooking sheet?;)

It's kind of a shame about Debbie ... that she couldn't be more truthful about certain things ... because she had a great camera presence. I was surprised she made it as far as she did after listening to Bob & Susie go on and on about how important integrity was.

I know...I actually really like her at the beginning. But she lost my respect once it became clear that she would say anything in the interests of self-preservation. And I too was surprised that she made it past the cocktail party fiasco.

QUICKIE VIVA las VEGAS question:
Todd English's olives....do or don't ???

In my circle of friends, it gets mixed reviews. Some love it, some don't.
I do like where it's located. Very pretty nice boutique shopping area of the Bellagio. I've not eaten there, hubby has. It was a few years ago. He like his food OK, but not enough for us to go together on trips since then. Wish I could be more help. Whatever you decide, hey, you're in Vegas! Enjoy!!

Good morning everyone! :goodvibes Looks like I missed some good food porn pics - thanks Alison (yes, her name has 1 L)! Glad your trip was good! Happy be-lated Anniversary, Elin! Brenda, you had me at Chocolate. ;) The wine & jazz just makes it even better! :rotfl: Sorry I'll miss the virtual wine night, but I'll be in WDW! Have a great week & I'll catch up with you guys in about 10 days!

Cheers!
Michelle

Not sure how long your trip is but I'll be arriving at WDW next Wed -- maybe our paths will cross. We'll be staying at the Treehouse Villas and then moving to Kidani. Have a great trip!

I'm not sure which Trader Joe's it was to tell you the truth. My aunt had dragged me to one (about 5 years ago now) and it was this teeny tiny place, which I was not expecting. Perhaps that is where my disappointment lies. I was expecting a large store, like Whole Foods. I had heard TJ's talked up so much by people and it just didn't live up to the hype for me. Its a very long drive to make (for me) for the limited selection I found there. Don't get me wrong-they had some great stuff, but I find Whole Foods suits more of my needs and is far closer to home than Trader Joe's.

The one I've been to is definitely pretty small. I guess I just like certain things they have there. I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip there (right now I only go to the Mt. Laurel store when I am down visiting a friend in the area) but I am guessing I'll visit more often when the Princeton store opens, especially considering that I will practically pass right by it on my way home from work. Hopefully this store will be a bit bigger than the other one!:goodvibes

Allison - Great porn, everything looked wonderful!!

Brenda - Jeffrey was my favorite and I was hoping he'd win but I thought Melissa would win. I'd be willing to bet he'll get a show too.;)

So sorry to hear about your SIL. Will keep her and your family in my thoughts

I was amazed and then dismayed to see Debbie comfortably lie with great finesse...on camera. I can't imagine myself ever opting to watch her cook anything. I politely wish her well in her future, but she's one strange chick.:rolleyes1

QUICKIE VIVA las VEGAS question:
Todd English's olives....do or don't ???

Just wanted to pipe up on this and I know EVERYONE has a different experience BUT...

We had 14 people, horrible service (my husband loves a drink at BlueZoo and they knew how to make it but said they didn't want to take the time among other things), food was good but 5 out of us including me had "food issues" over the next two days. This was also our 1st meal of the trip so it wasn't some other place. A few of us wrote letter and we never heard anything back.

Lori and TigerKat your family is on our thoughts!

Wow Chelsi ... how surprising to hear about Olives. Jay and I looked at their menu when we were in Vegas last year but it didn't really do anything for us. I'd much rather eat at Blue Zoo (again and again and again).

How was your trip and happy belated anniversary to you and your Jason!

Question for those of you planning to come to the DISmeet ...

do you mind if I have someone make up nametags so we'll know who we are? I was thinking of putting the DIS-name, followed by that person's first name.

I just want to make sure everyone is OK with that idea before I move forward ... and don't worry - this isn't anything fancy; it's peel and stick! :lmao:

Also ... Jay and I are going to bring a bottle of Frozin to the get together. We can buy it here relatively inexpensively and have yet to drink the bottle we were so excited to buy ... so, October seemed like a good time to open it up and share with you fine folks.

:goodvibes

I know.. I hate posting ANYTHING bad about a place because I do feel everyone has a different experience but this was really BAD! I don't think I can remember having to sit out a whole day of a trip from a dinner! Bluezoo's food has always been so much better to us!

Thank you for the anniversary wishes! We had a great time and I have some wonderful food porn to post tomorrow .. we even took a cheese cart picture from our anniversary dinner "just for Brenda":goodvibes

I for one will be so GRATEFUL for the peel and sticks - we are doing the PFTS with the add on right before and I am horrible with names without three hours of booze!

What is Frozin????:confused3

CHEESE PORN!!!! I'm in heaven ... I knew you'd come through with some cheese! :worship:

I'm good around here (most of the time) but I know that once we're all together that night I'm going to forget or call someone the wrong name ... this way I thought it would be a lot easier for all of us.

What is Frozin????:confused3

FroZin ( I didn't spell it correctly the first time through) is a CA dessert wine produced by Meeker Wineries. We tried it a couple of years ago at PFTS and while we normally don't like ice wines / ice wine varietals by themselves because they are so sweet, this one is nice ... sweet, but not overpowering, and it's made using zinfandel grapes.

We thought it might be tasty with the cake.

It's apparently becoming quite popular ... we bought a 375m bottle here for about $15 but I've seen them going for three times that on restaurant menus.

You missed everything. :lmao:

Seriously for a moment ... did you still want three Homer buttons? That's what I had written down for your order when I placed it a couple weeks back. I haven't mailed them yet because I wanted to be sure it was right and I knew you were busy.

So let me know so that I can ship 'em your way. :thumbsup2

Great... I take a couple of days off, ALMOST get arrested and I miss everything.... God help me if I ever go on vacation... :rotfl2:

& yes... I do want three... I missed out on how much I owe you...

I've been somewhat quiet lately. Yes, I've been posting here and there, but I've been going to visit my grandmother in hospice and dealing with month end at work. Nana was put into hospice on Tuesday, but by some miracle, is still holding on. I posted to Facebook that she's a tough bird at 94. I'm going to head back in a little while.

I did want to mention that I'm officially jealous of Sue's visit to Graham Eliot. Michelle (TheDISneyFamily) and I have discussed going there "someday", so now that I hear Sue's been there, I want to hear all about it. (I didn't scan the thread farther back to see if she did review it or not.)

And the rest of you...

Hi. :flower3: I'll see you soon.

Lori... Many hugs coming your way...:hug::hug: I know it is a tough step for your family to take, but in hospice they will help you through this difficult time. We are here for you... :grouphug:

Soooooo ... was I the only one disappointed in the outcome of the Next Food Network Star?

I liked the two finalists and do think either of them could do a fine job starring on a show that will never be shown in primetime, ensuring that we all forget about them both within the next month, but I really preferred the method and POV of the person who didn't win.

Am I the only one? :confused3

Okkk.... I really have been busy... who won?

That's my husband!!! :rotfl2:

How in the world did Jay EVER get up to 435 posts???? :cool2::cool2::cool2:

Sooooooo.....

The question of the day is...

If part of my many responsibilites of my "work"... :rotfl2: will include going over to Crete and checking in on the olive oil production... Do I actually have to like olives??? :confused3

Granted my only experience so far has been either jarred or canned...

We'll have to see...

I don't like olives either but I actually do like olive oil ... go figure. :rolleyes1 Going to Crete would be awesome ... is your company hiring? :rotfl2:

Stormy weather here today ... I like days like this as long as it doesn't storm between 6AM-9AM and 3PM-7PM ... :rotfl2:

Just think ... this time next week we'll be doing the F&W Finger Flex! :cool1:

I think name tags will be a great idea :thumbsup2 and I'd love to try a sip of the FroZin. I'm planning on coming with some Fairy Tale Cuvee, I think the party deserves it!!!!
