FOOD PORN! FOOD PORN! FOOD PORN!!!:banana::banana:

Yes, that's right ... I used the dancin' banana man on purpose. So there!

After a grueling 13 hour drive yesterday, we are back from our trip to Biltmore. I now know why my GPS took me across Virginia on the way down and not 95 to 40 through NC. I decided to go the latter route on the way home and it was a nightmare

Glad you made it home safely Allison! Hope you had a good time at Biltmore!

Welcome back Allison! :goodvibes

Glad you liked the buttons ... don't they look fabulous?!! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I just finished the second of my two workouts for today ... had to earn the sushi that I want for dinner and have got to start taking off the poundage.

As for the wine-y chat next week ... let's shoot for 8PM CST next Saturday night. Will that work for most of us? Again ... I'm flexible. Looking forward to finding a tasty wine next weekend to share with everyone!

Count me in! I just picked up a new Rose Cava at the local wine warehouse today and it sounds like I now have an excuse to break it open!

My DD Kristin is getting ready to leave for the Paul McCartney concert. She is

Hope she has a great time!

Look what Jay and I just booked for the end of the monthQUOTE]

Ooh, that sounds yummy!

We did make it to DC in the 4 hours, thanks in part to my overly aggressive NJ driving. (I admit it atleast.) :sad2:

Me and the kids were in hysterics when we saw this flashing road sign though...

Is road rage a problem by you guys? Cause let me tell you, I'm an advocate of the dashboard mounted shotgun... and lord knows I would have been tempted to use it if it were legal. :rotfl:

I find myself struggling daily with road rage, but my DH takes it to new heights. And since he is a law enforcement agent, and carries his gun with him everywhere, I am constantly having to remind him that if he prefers to stay on the good side of the bars in the jail, then he'd better keep his temper in check!:lmao:

Here's the porn from our visit to the Bistro at the Biltmore Winery:

Everything here was super yummy. The blue cheese was excellent-I'm going to try and find it here at home. The salmon was also a winner and I'm really not a salmon fan. I only eat salmon because Drew loves it and I can't not eat it when he cooks it at home. I admit this preparation was mouthwatering though. Drew just about licked the plate clean. Only problem with this meal was that I totally filled up on the appetizers and by the time the meal came I was too full to eat that much. This is a trend no matter where I go.

Allison, this all looks so good! In all the times we've been to Biltmore, we've yet to eat at the Bistro....we always hit the Stable Cafe because it's quicker and we're on a day trip. But after reading this, I think we will definitely have to try the Bistro next time.

The Bistro pics are wonderful! I especially like the looks of that cheese plate. YUM!!

Definitely give this a try. We have gone there on each trip and are never disappointed. Great food and not what I would consider pricey at all. I like the Stable Cafe too-I made a pig of myself with their pulled pork, ribs, mac & cheese, collard greens and roasted chicken platter. I'll have to post that and our Deerpark Restaurant fare tomorrow. Fred is starting to gripe that I've been married to the computer since I got back. I'm guilty as charged. :guilty:

The goat cheese, blue cheese & honey were just heavenly. We kinda had a bit of a knife fight at the table over who got to finish what. When all else fails, resort to childish sword fights with butter knives in public. I'm sure we entertained the other patrons. Are you sure your prepared for us Brenda? :crazy2:

:lmao:

Jay and I have been known to fight with fondue forks in public over who gets the last bit of tasty goo at the Melting Pot.

We make socially unacceptable noises in public, both accidentally and on purpose.

We laugh out loud at the most inappropriate of times.

I think we're all going to get along just fine! :lmao::thumbsup2

Ok... I'm finished playing Aunt for a while...

What did I miss??? :rotfl2:

You missed everything. :lmao:

Seriously for a moment ... did you still want three Homer buttons? That's what I had written down for your order when I placed it a couple weeks back. I haven't mailed them yet because I wanted to be sure it was right and I knew you were busy.

So let me know so that I can ship 'em your way. :thumbsup2

Allison - the Bistro looks niiiiiiiiiiice. Like everyone else, we have always hit the Stables instead. Not next trip!

The concert is over and the text said it as the best thing. ever.

Now they deal with the traffic. Allison... it is shades of your nightmare yesterday!
Paul didn't even get on the stage until after 9:00 because the traffic snarl was so bad people could not get to the field. It took people 4 hours to make a 20 minute drive. Boy am I glad she left early!

Because Bridget asked and because I always try to share with my friendies, even if takes me a week to remember. :lmao:

Fire-Roasted Tomato Chipotle Salsa

1/4 Cup plus 1 Tablespoon Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Onion, peeled and chopped
2 pounds Roma Tomatoes, blackened
4 Teaspoons finely minced roasted garlic
1/2 Cup minced fresh Cilantro leaves
4 Chipotle Chiles en Adobo, chopped (these are smoked, canned chilies ... buy 'em at your local grocery store)
1/4 Cup Red Wine Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Sugar

Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a saute' pan over medium heat until lightly smoking - add the onion and saute' until carmelized (about 10 minutes).

Transfer the onion, half the blackened tomatoes, and the garlic to a food processor or blender, and pulse until finely chopped but not pure'ed. Add the cilantro and chipotle chiles and pulse again to mix.

Peel, seed, and chop the remaining tomatoes and fold in to the above mixture with the remaining olive oil, vinegar, salt, and sugar. Adjust to your personal taste.

Yields about 4 cups.

NOTE: Jay actually broiled the tomatoes in the oven until they were starting to blacken. He then used our creme brulee torch to finish the job ... again, just blacken them to your personal taste. I like less smoky tasting things so he went light on the "burn" to keep me happy.

I've been somewhat quiet lately. Yes, I've been posting here and there, but I've been going to visit my grandmother in hospice and dealing with month end at work. Nana was put into hospice on Tuesday, but by some miracle, is still holding on. I posted to Facebook that she's a tough bird at 94. I'm going to head back in a little while.

I did want to mention that I'm officially jealous of Sue's visit to Graham Eliot. Michelle (TheDISneyFamily) and I have discussed going there "someday", so now that I hear Sue's been there, I want to hear all about it. (I didn't scan the thread farther back to see if she did review it or not.)

And the rest of you...

Hi. :flower3: I'll see you soon.

Lori, I'm sorry to hear that your Nana is in Hospice. My prayers are with you both.

 We put my grandmother on hospice right before she died, so I know how hard it is. I don't know what exactly your situation is, but my grandma was on in-home hospice, and they provided a lot of help in that last week.

If you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you.
