Love this idea!:thumbsup2

Welcome to the new thread Angela!! We've missed you! :goodvibes

EDITED TO ADD: I know I quoted Sheryl but then said welcome to Angela ... I'm not confused I'm just being confusing! HAHA!

I'd love to have a wine night ... next weekend would actually work perfectly for me if it works for you guys. It might be a lot of fun to talk over F&W with some booze just before the reservation rush begins on the 11th.

The question: do we each bring our own wine and then drink and discuss?

I will volunteer to taste the Charles Shaw aka 3 Buck Chuck (2 Buck Chuck in states with lower wine taxes than Virginia).

Drinking their Australian chardonnay now and I like it. It's smooth, no bite in the taste, good with spicy stuff like spicy bean dip which is what it's paired with right now :cool1:

I'm going to be at Disneyland next weekend for a Haunted Mansion anniversary event, not sure I am bringing the computer or that I can get any internet at the Paradise Pier. but I am sure I'll be having booze since the event is a cocktail party.

Sounds like a good wine to try ... I've moved away from chardonnays lately because of the bite that you mention.

Your weekend at DisneyLand sounds like a good time!

I will admit the only Australian Chuck imports appears to be Chardonnay. I only bought it because it was Australian and I am trying to relive my Australia trip. But I like it. I like Chuck's zinfandel too and I don't usually like white (or pink, this one is more pink) zinfandels. Price can't be beat either.

TGIF!!!! :thumbsup2

In our house that actually means two things:

1) Thank goodness it's Friday
2) That guy is farting

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: It ain't called Stinktown for nothing!:laughing:

:lmao:

I want the ticket price raised before August 30 so my birthday gift card will be worth more.

:rotfl2:

oooh! Wouldn't it be fun to see if we could each find a bottle of a particular wine and sit here tasting and discussing?

Loving this idea!!

Just coming up for air as I'm still working flat out to finish my lectures and Powerpoint presentations by August 14. 7 down and 2 to go :headache: :headache: I didn't think it was possible to exist on 4 hours sleep a night - but it actually is. Take that Martha Stewart!

Anyway, just dropped in to sign onto the new thread and I can't believe it's already 28 pages!!! Sounds like everyone has their ADRs sorted and I guess the next mad rush will be August 11. I'll just call in at 3 am West Coast time. We've decided to go to only 2 things because of time and cost and that will be PFTS (Spanish theme) and the Tequila tastings. As my sister is telling everyone: We're going to the Food and Wine festival and my sis will do the wine, while I do the food. Kind of sums it up accurately.

Glad to see you found your way to the new thread Angela!

I've got to take a road trip to either the Charlotte or Raleigh Trader Joe's and stock up on Three Buck Chuck (and other goodies of course!). The last time I was at a Trader Joe's, it was still Two Buck Chuck....either I'm getting old, or inflation is really getting bad!

Every weekend I am down at Trader Joe's and I see people carting out cases of 3 Buck Chuck and I'm taking home one bottle.

Those would be the people like me who have to commute to get to a TJ! My SIL actually takws a cooler with her when she goes!:lmao:

 I will be at MagicMeets next weekend and won't be able to participate. However, I can certainly catch up on Sunday when I get home!

If this becomes a regular thing it could work a couple of ways, actually! Like a book club people could get the same wine and discuss it all together.

Or each of us could get our own and talk about why we like it.

Or a few of us could get the same one and have 3 or 4 ideas running at the same time. Talk about confusing!

I do not know this 3-Buck-Chuck since we have no Trader Joe's here near the 'Burg. DD does in Boston so I guess I will have to wait until the next trip to visit her to try it out. Unless TJ decides to move on in here. We can hope!

After checking out my handy Google page I see that there is a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods about 50 minutes north of me. Might be a fun thing to do on a quiet Saturday. Check 'em both out and compare them to our new Wegmans... which I have been to three times and still haven't seen everything!

Well, somewhere along the way today I posted my 23,000th post! Wow... That is:

2875 posts per year.
239.58 posts per month
7.87 posts per day

:teeth:

We don't find a lot at Trader Joe's here in Stinktown, although they have a great price on Gerolsteiner mineral water which we purchase by the case. The cheese selection pales in comparison to Whole Foods which has cut back and now pales in comparison to the Wine and Cheese Place which is our favorite place to shop.

Wine. Cheese. Beer. Hard Liquor. Did I miss anything? :lmao:

Elin, we could always do the wine chat on Sunday next week if that works for everyone else. I'm taking a long weekend so that I can rest up for F&W sprint calling on the 11th, so I can sleep in on the 10th.

I'm flexible so whatever works for the friendies works for me. :goodvibes

Congrats!! :cool1:

I am enjoying the last of our vanilla bean ice cream with Don PX port poured over the top. YUM!!!

We first tried this at Tchoup Chop over at Universal ... their sommelier had us try this combination for free the night we dined there and we've been hooked ever since.

Maybe I will just spend my Saturday at our Wegmans getting to know them all a bit better, then! Save myself the drive for now and see what I can buy closer to home.

I figure that most people need to go to work on Monday so that would make Saturday night the best night to choose. I think we have decided to drive home that evening instead of staying another night in Gettysburg. We will get to spend 6 hours there on Friday so I think we can save the money on the hotel costs there and come on home. So, maybe I will be back home in time to imbibe and describe with the rest of you. Catherine won't be here, though. Although I don't think we ought to feel too sorry for her.

Hmmm... my taste buds are rolling around the thought of that. :scratchin:

The best combination I've tried is Bailey Irish Cream Ice Cream (Haagen Daas) with Don PX poured over it. Talk about spontaneous toe curling.

Elin ... don't know what your schedule is like when you're going to be in Gettysburg, but we had dinner at a place called the Farnsworth House the last time we were there (2003) and it was terrific. Their food is similar to some things you'd see on the menus at various taverns in Colonial Williamsburg ... part of the house doubles as a bed and breakfast and the place is supposed to be haunted.

I don't know about ghosts but the meal was hauntingly good. :lmao:

Sorry, I'm falling behind again......just in case noone has posted it yet, ticket prices are officially going up on Sunday :sad2:

We ate there so many times when we lived there, Brenda! It is one of our all-time favorites. Unfortunately they don't serve lunch anymore! :sad2: We also debated about staying there but there was no room at the Inn. ;)

If you guys ever go back, there are a couple more places that we loved. We are going to check them out to see if they are as good as we remember! I will let you know.
