Ok... I know it's just a tease...

BUT....
At least I didn't get arrested...

Thought I'd share some pics from our trip to the Biltmore Winery yesterday.
I have some sad news to share.
I spoke to my mom about an hour ago, and found out my dog, (who was really my grandma's dog,) passed away this morning.
Needless to say I am heartbroken about this. He was like the last piece of my grandma I had left, and I am just so sad he's gone.
I can't say this was unexpected however, since he was born in 1993, so he was obviously an old dog, with a full life. And he was doing poorly the last few weeks. My sister said a month ago she'd be suprised if he lasted another week, and my dad said he'd probably die by the end of the month.
He was just such a good dog. I remember always coming over to Grandma's house when I was little, and he would always be so excited to see me. He still was always excited to see me, even Friday, (the last time I saw him,) when I had gone over to my parents house, and he had been outside limping around. I had gone to put my stuff down inside, and he tried to hurry up to keep up with me, while I was trying to get him to not follow me so I could go back out and carry him in.
It's weird though, he was doing fine until my grandma died, and then it's like he knew that she was gone, and that's when I started noticing a steady decline in him. Like he held out just for Grandma, who always worried so much about that dog.
The Spouse originally hails from the Cardinal Nation, though he lives in CA now. He got a birthday present, which just arrived today, and you can see our little man modeling it:

Note the game on and Warcraft- the Spouse assures me it's called multitasking.
This gift was sent by my SIL. The Little Man has a fine collection of sweaters and outfits. He doesn't mind, too much.We already refered to him during games as our Rally Monkey, so now he's dressed for the part at least.
Last night we (all 4 of us) went to dinner at Zink. American Kitchen in uptown Charlotte and then to see Mama Mia. It was excellent, all of it!
My husband and I did Keys to the Kingdom a few years ago and it was AWESOME! Yes, you will know a lot of information already but you will be surprised at what information you do not know. Also, the utilidor tour is worth the money by itself.
My husband still talks about that tour and has suggested we go again, but I'm hesitant to have an identical experience.
I'm late to the party again, huh? I spent all day yesterday catching up on all the work and chores I missed while I was sick. One day off, and everything falls apart!
Good morning!!
Fun news...i booked a Keys to the Kingdom Tour last night!!! SOO excited. We are planning on doing it the morning of our last full day at WDW...i have wanted to do this tour for a long time..has anyone here done it before? Did you like it? I know it will be a lot of things I already know about, but i still thought there is always more to learn about MK!!!

We are planning on doing it in September, I'm really looking forward to it!
I haven't looked at their financials but I'm not surprised. But how much of that is self-inflicted?
They've offered some ridiculous promotions / discounts all year ... they sacrificed their profit margins just to be able to say that their hotel occupancy and theme park attendance were "stable" and rolled the dice that once all those people got to WDW they would spend money that they didn't have.
If they had left a lot of their promotions off the table and just offered room discounts, they might have had smaller crowds but they also might have had more discretionary spending in the parks and restaurants by those people who were still visiting.
I'm just speculating. But we see it a lot in some of our commercial customers in this kind of downtown. They slash their prices to drive up volume and end up sacrificing their profit and operating margins.
And now they'll increase ticket prices again because they won't be able to think of anything better to do to turn the numbers around.
OK ... I'm done soapboxing ... for now.![]()
Thought I'd mention a wine I picked up yesterday.
It's Bodega Norton Torrontes 2008.
This is the first time we've tried a torrontes, and it was lovely. It's a dry, very fruity white wine.
Bodega Norton was at F&W last year, and will be back this year.![]()
I want the ticket price raised before August 30 so my birthday gift card will be worth more.
Yum yum yum yum yum... did I mention I love this wine????![]()
I just saw it, hadn't heard of it before. It is really good. Elin, if you think of other wines you'd recommend, I'd love to hear.
I've even thought (maybe after all the busy time with Food and Wine) it might be fun if once a month or so the Friendies take turns suggesting one or two wines of the month. Might be fun to be able to taste and talk about it on the Bendy thread.

I love that idea.oooh! Wouldn't it be fun to see if we could each find a bottle of a particular wine and sit here tasting and discussing?
