I wasn't trying to be a sad sack:laughing:- when I look up the events too it seems like all the cool stuff is going to be later in the month as well. I'll do better planning for next year, I'm so used to just rolling down to DCA whenever I want.

Maybe I can use the button to warn people? More of my flock will be coming! Batten down the hatches!

Oh, and I just found out that my Mom is taking us all on a surprise cruise from October 9th-14th! I'll stuff myself at F&WF for a week, have a week off, then go down to Mexico to gorge myself again.:rolleyes1 We even found a 2 wineries to visit. I'm going to need bigger pants...

Can you pack me in your suitcase for both trips? Although I eat a lot, I'm pretty small, and won't take up much room!:rotfl:

Hi, friendies! I found our new home! Thanks for the nibbles and drinks, Kat. :)

The buttons look fantastic, Brenda. Catherine, your design really translated well! I wish we were going at our typical later October time this year so we could meet you all too. But, it is not to be this year... maybe another time soon. :goodvibes

Thanks for the 90 day V&A booking confirmation, Lori... Can I book during my 90+10 time frame (I know it has to be done on the phone, not online) or do I have to book exactly at 90 days?

KeepMovingForward (because I ridiculously cannot remember your name!!!!!!) - how terrific if we all get to meet on Christmas Eve! You had better believe I will be on the phone at 6:50 a.m. on whichever day I can be! ;)

I thought we needed some goodies for our new house.......

What you mean it's not :rotfl2:

I'm here!!!

And there...

(go ahead... let's all sing... )

:rolleyes1 And Everywhere.... :rolleyes1

Love the button! I think we will charm the crowds with them! :woohoo: Can't wait!

Thanks for the new home .. I am off to Sonoma this weekend for a few days!
Have fun planning and see you soon!:woohoo:

A cruise to Mexico in October? I want your mom! My mom just wants to go to Vegas and stay in semi-sleazy hotels so she has more money to gamble with. :rotfl2:

Sounds like a great trip! Yours, I mean, not Grimace's (my mom). LOL!!!

I go out to a wine tasting for the evening and I come back to a new thread. :cool1:

Our wine tasting was mildly entertaining. You know how you always get that one overly pretentious snobby know it all twit in your group that asks questions they already know the answers to just to let everyone else know how intelligent they think they are? We had one. We had a really good laugh at his expense though, so all was not lost (well, on him it was). This guy was trying to argue with the master sommelier about where the wines were from (we did a blind tasting). At one point during the tasting Fred left and went outside for a cigarette. He comes back in as we are tasting one of the reds and this guy starts telling the sommelier that the wine had very strong tobacco notes and the sommelier just looked at him crosseyed. We all roared with laughter at our table, even the people that weren't with us, because we all knew it was Fred wreaking of cigarettes and not the wine at all, but that guy just knew better than all of us and insisted it was the wine. :rotfl: The sommelier even caught on and had a hard time keeping a straight face. Yes, some expert Mr. Pretentious was. Very entertaining and it had us in a fit of giggles for the rest of the night. I guess we're a bit uncouth, but we had fun. The vineyard we went to is pretty young. Here's their website if anyone is interested: http://www.4jgswinery.com/ There was just some cheese and berries for food (thank goodness we went out to eat beforehand). So I took one pic at the beginning of our glasses and the napkins and that was it. I know, I failed on the food porn for this event miserably. :sad1:

Brenda, the buttons look great! Can't wait to wear ours!

Allison that sounds like a great evening ... even with the teacher's pet. We've been to cheese tastings like that before, too, and it always annoys me when people do that.

Thanks for the pics - I'll be sure to start some new links in the first post.

Glad you like the buttons - I'm tickled green ('cause I'm not really a pink kinda girl). :rotfl2:

I was hoping to get pics of the vineyard itself, but we have awful weather here-pouring rain, so that killed my hopes of some outdoors shots. Plus the tasting didn't start until 7pm, so already it was pitch dark when we arrived there. Now we found this weird...all the wines we tasted were NOT from this vineyard. Am I the only one who finds that just slightly bizarre? I mean isn't the purpose of the tasting to turn people on to your own stuff? Perhaps we haven't gone to enough of these, but I did think that was the whole point of it. We did learn a lot from the sommelier, but I've come to the conclusion that while I enjoyed the wealth of information he shared with us, I don't think I need to delve into analyzing my wine like that in order to enjoy it.

Ahhh, the Beatles. Official band of Bendy Friendies everywhere (and here and there ... :lmao: )!!!

Younger DD just got an envelope in the mail today. What was in said envelope, you ask? How about 4 tickets to see Paul in concert in DC next month for her 23rd birthday. She and her friends are beside themselves.

So how much green stuff do I need to send you??? (cash... sorry you don't get him back... :lmao:)

I can't believe the poured wines from outside wineries?!?!? And I also agree that descriptions of wines and the tasting notes often bandied about often leave me cold. I know what I like. Show me something else I like and I will buy it.

And I will remember that you are Allison from now on. That is my sister's name!

That seems odd to me ... why would a vineyard not feature at least some of their own wines?

And I totally agree about not needing to know all of that to enjoy my wine. I think it's interesting, but for the most part I just want it to smell nice and taste good ... I don't really need to know just how many grapes gave up the vine in order for Jay and me to truly appreciate the wine.

WOW! What a great gift!!!!
