Thanks for the info.
We try to do things a lot less 'organized' than that. We'll try to arrange great B&Bs for 3 weeks...for far less than that one week ABD trip.;)

I figured you were much more a fly by the seat of your pants kind of traveler, but thought it was worth mentioning because it is 2 vacations for the price of 1 :goodvibes

A lighthearted question I've been pondering this morning---

Which park would you give up during Christmastime--Disney Studios or Animal Kingdom? Just concerned that maybe I have too much planned with my mom going with us. I don't want to wear her out, even using a wheelchair for her arthritis. Just thinking if we need to weed out some activiites.

AK positives:
*DD can get pictures with the characters in Christmas accessories and avoid the Mickey/Minnie line at MVMCP.
*Jingle Jungle Parade
*Lots to slow down and enjoy in this park with my mom--shows, animal trails. etc.

DHS positves:
*Osborne lights
*Beauty and the Beast show
*Animation studio
*Butterfinger muffins (:rotfl2:)

Anybody want to analyze with me?

I'll be glad to
When we took my Dad and Stepmom, they loved both parks but really enjoyed the Studios. That old time Hollywood is what they grew up with, so they really enjoy living in their past a bit. AK is tough because there is soooo much up & down and winding trails, very tiring.
Also keep in mind, she may want some down time on her own (you might too :rolleyes1) You may not need to drop anything from your schedule, she may just not want/need to go everywhere with you. There were times that Dad & Jackie met us at a park or left earlier than we did. Worked well for everyone I think.
just my 2 cents :goodvibes

Hey Brenda, hope Grimmie is being good & cranky for you today

Guess what I have picked up, yep the lovely swine flu! Apparently not in WDW either, sometime after here at home. My dr really jacked me up with lots of meds, I also have a bad sinus infection.

Hey there!

Hope you feel better soon!!!

Boy, that little piggy seems to be getting around. I was just reading a memo sent to one of the girls I work with from her vet that said a cat in Iowa tested positive for H1N1! See below.

Keep safe!

Brenda, I'm very sorry about your Mom.:flower3: Sending good thoughts & prayers for minimal damage & a quick recovery!!!

My computer is going crazy and I realise this part of before did show-

Feel better soon! My sister works for Hospice and has been off 4 weeks with Spider Pig! Try to keep something down if you can, she said she only felt better when she was able to eat something! Send love!

I have returned from the dark side of swineflu victorious!:woohoo: Turns out all you need to beat it is 16 hours of sleep a day, chicken noodle soup, pedialyte, and Colin Firth movies. Behold the healing power of Mr. Darcy!

Michelle- I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well.

I wondered where you've been hiding....boy, that pig flu must be something....you've been down for over 2 weeks now!

don't you know that Colin Firth will cure anything???

& just so everyone knows... I was in a car accident 21 years ago this week (which may be why I'm hurting right now... in my head... :rotfl:) I have nerve damage from something called Thoraxic outlet Syndrome... mostly it's like hitting your funny bone all the time with some migraines and general body aches in for measure...

But sometimes my body just hates me... REALLY hates me... and every part of me hurts... that's when you add in the Fibromyalgia... (and Bendy...you thought YOU won the "How Many ickies can I have Wrong" contest... :rotfl:)

I can be wiped out for weeks like this... alot happens when the weather changes... which it is now...

So I will probably be swacked out for a couple of more days - what I really need is a nice massage and a hot tub... & chocolate for the first time in 32 days...

Thanks for all the kind thoughts... I'll be better by next spring... ;)

Poor Michelle....sending some hugs your way!

There is much nacho hat hilarity taking place on the current food review thread ... pictures of drunk people wearing hats. It's wrong and yet it's so right. :rotfl2: Need a laugh? Come take a look!

I saw it, and would have paid millions to have seen it in person!:lmao:

I need to plan a trip somewhere for 3ish weeks in June. I hate being at the mercy of the school calendar/dh's work calendar.:headache:

I started to research Nepal, but apparently that is not a good time to visit.

Maybe it will finally be time to go to Ireland. We only have cancelled that trip (and lost airfare) 3 times....coming from the states we will not be doing that...

Oh, go for Ireland! It's been nearly 15 years since I was there, but it was an absolutely amazing trip, and I would dearly love to go back!

Hi friendies.

Asking for your good thoughts for Grimmie, who is in the hopsital this evening with what appears to be a mild heart attack & artery blockage. We're still waiting for final test results and then we'll move forward from there. I talked to her and she sounds pretty good (cranky, like a good Grimmie should) but it's still worrisome.

Sending you and Grimmie good thoughts and prayers! Update us when you can.

I would go for HS....the Osborne lights are just so wonderful!

Chelsi, We've adjusted our last several F&W trips a week or so every year trying to find that "sweet" spot. Last year '08 we did the end of Oct, got some really cold temps, 1st year '06, we did the first week & got the scorching temps. In '07 we did the 2nd week & it was still too hot. This year the 15-22nd the 1st 2 days we had super, super high humidity then we got a bit of the cold, but we were happy with it, quite a relief from the steamroom.

Boy, that piggie is getting around, isn't he? Sending good thoughts your way!

Agreed.:thumbsup2

I am sick, too. Maybe we haven't been drinking enough booze to kill germs?

Hope you feel better soon!

:scratchin Hmm, now that you mention it my cocktail consumption is way down since returning from WDW. Quickly- to the BoozeCave!

Any news, Brenda?

I hope everyone that's sick starts to feel better soon! Our doctor's office is out of regular flu shots and won't get H1N1 shots in until December. Kroger's only has the nasal mist and I can't even get through on the healt dept. line to try for an appointment or ask what's available. Dh needs to get his butt over to the VA for his shot (they are doing a drive thru shot clinic next weekend which cracks me up for some reason!)

It looks like it's a unanimous vote for DS. We're offsite at the Hilton this time, so we'll be driving together back and forth to the parks. I know my mom will need some downtime, this is all just so different to plan for. Thanks for everybody's input! :goodvibes

We had one for the seasonal flu shots here and it was not well attended. I went and was in and out (but not out of the car) in less than 5 minutes! They work!

Now if we could all just get the H1N1 vaccine. The doses coming into our area are like 1300 at a time, and sent to schools with student populations exceeding those numbers. Meanwhile they advertise for people to come to them. Why? All they are doing is creating angry and frustrated crowds!

They just announced on our local news break that the counties on either side of us are having flu shot clinics this evening. I've been trying to call ever since and keep getting a busy signal. Wouldn't you think a health dept. would have some kind of updated phone system other than a busy signal? Man, I miss working for the county in NC; they just brought the shots to us!

Just got back from Disney and saw this, so I'm sending lots of prayers and good vibes your mom's way.

Well, it was like getting a reservation at LeCellier, but whogirl and I have appointments for swine flu shots next Tues. at the health dept. They said she may get FluMist since she has no health problems; not sure how I feel about that, but I'm sure she'll be okay. Having asthma, I get the shot.

Ok, we're making shirts for the girls for the bday party this weekend :thumbsup2 Jon made a cool design, just ironed on the 1st one but the backing paper is not peeling off easily. It's more like wallpaper :scared1:

Help! Anyone have tips on how to get the backing off easily? What we might have done wrong? Need to get the paper off of that one and then do 4 more shirts.

There have been some studies showing that children do better with the flumist, that it works better for them :thumbsup2 DS got it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great :goodvibes

It's been a couple of years since I made shirts--have you tried ironing over it again and letting it cool a second time? You didn't print it on the wrong side of the paper, did you? (not that I think you would :goodvibes)

I did find that the transfer paper for dark shirts worked better overall, even if you're doing a design on a light colored shirt. After doing a dozen shirts for the 2007 trip, I swore never again! I am, however, comtemplating tie dye possibly.... :scratchin

No, we got it on the right side of the paper :rotfl2:

I was afraid to iron it again, don't want it to be stuck on even worse :scared1:

It's the white tee shirt transfers and white shirts (heavy weight 50/50). We followed all the directions and it says "with one hand pull the backing away while holding the shirt in the other hand".You've gotta be kidding me! My hand is cramping so bad from trying to peel off the shredded little bits of backing that are still on there :headache:

I did tye die with the 6th graders at field day last year, it's gotta be better at home right?

No news on Grimmie? I hope she is doing well. :flower3:

Thanks for all the well wishes!! :grouphug:

Chelsi, FOUR WEEKS!!! :scared1: Oh no!! Luckily I've only had 2 days with the stomach issues, now I'm hungry & eating! I just had high hopes of getting well quickly. The quick-acting steroid injection the dr gave me on Monday had me feeling better that evening. But I've gone downhill since then.

Chelle, You need to iron it more. I've found, that it takes a lot of pressure & high heat, then it should peel off easily. You can keep ironing, cooling & trying to peel until it you figure out the right amount of time & pressure for your iron, shirt etc. I've found it never works as described & practicing on an old shirt first helps.

Hoping for some good news from Bendy soon....

I'm glad you got flu shot reservations. What is a FluMist? A professional log flume rider?

And just sending out more virtual good thoughts to everyone sick.:grouphug:

It's been hit and miss here....I was able to get Nathan's seasonal flu vaccine very early in October, but was having trouble getting Emma's seasonal flu vaccine as both our pediatrician's office and CVS had not gotten them in yet. On a whim, I tried my pediatrician's office yesterday, and they not only had the seasonal FluMist in for Emma, they also had H1N1 available for Nathan. Mike's already gotten both his seasonal and H1N1 back in October (as law enforcement, he's on the priority list), so now I just have to wait for our pediatrician to get the H1N1 in for Emma, and we'll finally be all set as I'm not getting either one myself.....the two times in my life that I've gotten a flu shot, I've ended up getting the flu, so I think that they must not work real well for me.:confused3
