Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

There is a Teavana that opened up somewhere here in Stinktown that we have yet to find our way to ... it sounds like a great place to find some really remarkable tea.

And I'm no expert on tea ... I just know the handful that are out there that I really like. Chamomile remains my all-time favorite hot tea choice ... with milk that the gardenview lounge lady refused to give me because she said it would curdle. :lmao: If I want chunky tea then I'll eat chunky tea ... next time I'm not backing down.

OK ... I have got to get some sleep or I am going to find myself reshingled or something. :rotfl2:

HEY ... I read a dessert party review on All Ears today that made it sound like MK is going to try to turn that into a permanent offering. I hope they offer it in October so that Jay and I can ask Guest X and Y if they want to give it a try only to have them decline. :rotfl:

I love Teavana! It is exquisitely devine! Yummmmmmmm.. it tastes like vacationing and having a spa treatment all in one. ::yes::

I'll be the one pulling small bottles of booze out of her purse. :rotfl2: Just ask Lori and Michelle if you think I'm blowing smoke. :lmao:

does anyone here know how to make these emoticon guys?

I really want a special one for our cruise next year but I have no idea how to do it.

I'm seeing a happy banana-man:  ... being sucked into a whirling vortex ...

since we're crossing the Atlantic at the height of hurricane season, and since the only two times Jay and I have cruised were during two of the worst hurricane seasons in recent memory (2004 and 2005), our specious reasoning tells us that next September is gonna be a bumpy ride. I thought it would be funny to have a special little emoticon for it.

I'm also trying to come up with a really interesting title for that to-be-written TR. I think I'm going to make a second blog just for that cruise and we're talking about taking the laptop with us so we can post while we're cruising.

How fun would that be? :dance3:

And I have pictures of the Courvoisier to prove it. :rotfl2:

Add me as one of the Teavana fans. I found that my essentials were:

Perfect Tea Maker. It's a little mug-like contraption with a built-in strainer. You add water to loose leaves, and when it's steeped, the pressure sensitive ring on the bottom will dispense the tea into the cup you rest said ring upon.

Perfect Tea Measure. Yeah, silly me, spending money on a teaspoon. But I leave it inside my...

Tea canister. I have a couple tea canisters in rotatation. I leave the measuring spoon inside one of them, and it's very handy.

They do offer tea blend suggestions. Taste the variety of samples they have in the store, and if one floats your boat, grab it.

Oh, and I treated myself last time to the German rock cane sugar. It's a nice, unrefined sugar that doesn't change the tea's flavor too much. It's very cool to taste a "rock" of sugar to note how mellow it is.

She forgets that we'll be the two others reaching into their purses - so that makes 3 purses and Jay has been known to wear pants with big pockets... we just have to remember to get the ones in plastic bottles... can't bring glass into the parks... We can always blame it on Planky and Plankton... oh H E L L ... we can blame most anything on THEM...

I thought your sentance "I leave it inside my....." was a Mad Libs or fill in the blank ::blush::

lol

Love the rock sugar! I also love making Ice Tea out of their typical sampling blend .... I forget what it is... like Tropical and Roobios? Yum!

Hi all,
I was hoping to join this thread, made one lousy post and then things got crazy. Major layoffs at work, a lovely experience w/ kidney stones:scared1:, a wedding and a funeral. Anyway, I've been reading everyone's posts trying to keep up with things. I'm impressed with everyone's culinary knowledge. :thumbsup2 Here's a question for everyone:

Does anyone know how to make decent iced tea? I'm having people over on the 4th and I just bought a new Disney pitcher. But, whenever I make iced tea it's just so blah. :confused3

Sorry things have been so mixed up for you lately. Let's hope this new month brings a new beginning!

As for tea... My Dad made iced tea every single day of his life and it was always delicious and clear as a bell. In the morning he put 5 tea bags in a two quart Pyrex juice pitcher and poured boiling water over them. After letting it steep all day he would remove the bags. (Don't squeeze them, just remove them or the tea can be bitter.) Then he filled a very large pitcher with ice and poured the steeped tea over it. This is unsweetened tea. If you want to sweeten the whole pitcher I would sweeten the steeped tea before pouring over the ice.

EDIT: I see in a later post you say you like sweet tea. I suggest that you try simple syrup. You can keep it in the refrigerator and it can be added to the entire pitcher OR individually.

We, too, still have a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker and use Luzianne brand tea (don't know if that's nationwide :confused3) for the best iced tea. If you want it sweetened, place 3/4 cup sugar in with the tea bags in the top of the tea maker. After the top filled with hot water, I would usually take the lid off and stir the sugar and water with a wooden spoon handle to make sure it dissolved as the tea brewed. It comes out just sweet enough without being syrupy.

I don't like flavored teas unless they're hot.

That sounds even better than the Open House Punch -- I have a thing for slushy drinks...:)

Again, for the Vodka Slush we mixed lime seltzer half and half with the 7-up. It was just a bit cloying for some reason this go-round. I don't know if our tastes have changed or if the ingredients from the recipe are sweeter than they used to be, but we really found both our go-to vacation punches to be over the top in the sugar factor this summer. :confused3

Have fun at the beach. And your Kidani trips sound wonderful. :goodvibes

I am hoping for a continuance of said party, myself. I know I could get myBob into the MK at night if he had a place to be instead of having to find a place to be crowded. We really enjoyed the sadly-gone dessert balcony seating for Fantasmic! at DLR. It was well worth the money!

I guarantee that Jay and I will be trying to find a way to fit it in if it's offered ... it would be nice to try something new that's not too overpriced (for disney). :thumbsup2

Sorry about the blechy stuff

Living in the South, I love Sweet Tea! My tried & true recipe for it is 3,2,1.
3 Family size bags (I like the Luzianne for sweet tea)
2 cups water
1 cup sugar

Bring water to boil, then put tea bags in for 5 minutes to steep. Don't squeeze or you'll get a bitter taste. Stir in 1 cup sugar--super fine is best. Pour tea mixture into a pitcher and add cold water to make 2 quarts.

omg Blackerry Sage used to be my jam, because I used to be able to get it free at work! yum!

Hi SmallWorld71, I'm new to these parts, but I can help with your Tea query.

For plain black Tea, the Spouse really likes Lipton Iced Tea Brew. I brew 2 tea bags with 4 cups of boiling water in a small glass pitcher. After steeping I remove the tea bags and pour the tea concentrate in another normal sized pitcher that is filled with cold water and just top it off with more cold water. I find that this gets the best flavor, and the Spouse likes his plastic pitcher, so brewing it this way doesn't get any plastic-y taste into it or discolor it as much.

And if you want to get fancy, I can wax about tea all day, I have 7 years of Barista experiance.:thumbsup2 What I do for my tea is I use loose leaf from Teavana which is like the Starbucks of Teas. Some of their stuff can be a little pricey, but I go in there knowing what I want and don't let them talk me into anything I don't need. And they have tons of free tea samples brewing that you can try. drool...

My current favorite Iced Tea blend for the summer is an mix of Oolong and White Tea. They do have less expensive oolongs, but I like this one alot. I brew it similar to the way I listed above, I just dump the tea leaves in a small glass pitcher, fill it with 4 cups boiling water, steep (I add the white tea 1 minute later then the oolong), and then I pour it into a pitcher with a strainer/funnel combo to keep the leaves out, and add cold water. So good on a hot day like today was!:woohoo:

We have a Teavana at our fancy mall and it's wonderful! Just took DH there a couple of weeks ago and he was in 7th heaven :cloud9: Having the samples is a stroke of genius IMHO

I guarantee that Jay and I will be trying to find a way to fit it in if it's offered ... it would be nice to try something new that's not too overpriced (for disney). :thumbsup2

We're considering replacing one of our dinners with the dessert party :rolleyes1

I have decided that when the all important F&W booking date of August 11th comes around I'm taking the day off ... gotta make sure I have enough time to book those events. ;)

And now I'm leaving for the cube farm ... at least it should be a fairly "mild" day. :thumbsup2

Replacing a dinner? My friend, why not do both? :lmao:

That would be my vote, go for the gluttony. I hope they do extend it because we'll definitely fit it into our schedule somehow.

Both of you are too funny! Unfortunately, my "kids" are both "Disney Adults" so the dessert party adds up pretty quick. That and it's fun to have dessert for dinner :cool1: I also have trouble eating that much in July heat :sad2: so I'll take dessert over dinner most days ;)

Have a good day! I've gotta make sure DD finishes packing. She's leaving this afternoon for a week at the beach with her best friend. Now if I could get rid of the other one :rolleyes1 ;)

Hi all! Thought I'd pop in real quick....one kid is napping and the other is wreaking havoc with her cousins, so I am hiding in my bedroom so that I can avoid responsibility for a while! As a general rule, I try very hard not to let the other family members run herd on my kids....but DH is on duty this week, so I am here on my own, and they've got me outnumbered.....so I'm taking my family up on their offers to help me out this weekend.

Thought you might enjoy a few shots from here....first up is the view from our deck this morning.

The water's been a little rough for the kiddos, but the weather has been great yesterday and today.

And because I can never resist an opportunity to show off my kiddos....here's rugrat #1....Emma, 5 years old.

Followed by rugrat #2....Nathan, 17 months old.

And finally....the money shot. The commercial grade margarita machine that is bringing me soul-restoring, mind-numbing salvation this weekend!

As you can see, we've already drained on side.:lmao:
