Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Hey everybody. It's been a couple of weeks since I've checked out the thread. I have been going through a tough time. My Mom passed away on the 27th of April. It was really unexpected. She was complaining of side pains and we took her to the hospital. It turns out she had pneumonia and the doctors gave her a 50/50 chance. I never expected to lose her, she was such a strong lady. She died less than 24 hours later. I just wanted to remind everybody how important it is to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Mother's Day is this weekend and it is going to be the hardest day of my life. I would give anything to have one more day with my Mom. I know that she knew I loved her, but I still wish I had a chance to let her know exactly what she meant to mean. Thank you for listening.

 I am so sorry. My Mom died unexpectedly 3 Easters ago and I still miss her terribly. My Dad died unexpectedly 16 Christmases ago and I still miss him every single day. I wish I had been able to see and talk to them one more time to tell them I love them. Like you, I know that they knew it was so, but I wish I had been able to tell them one more time. My heart is crying for your loss. :sad1:

So sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my mom 11 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss her! My mom had alzheimers. She was diagnosed at 50 years old! Who'd have thought! By the time I was 23 she didn't even know who I was. When she passed away, I was actually happy because I'm sure she's clear-headed in heaven and knows who I am now! Now when I say "I love you", I know that she understands! I'm sure that your mom knows how much you love her! I know that Sunday will be hard, but maybe you could do something that your mom loved to do, or sing her favorite song, or eat her favorite food... almost as a tribute to her. Or even write her a letter telling her how much she meant to you. Things like that tug at my heart, but they help me to cope.

:grouphug:

I am so, so sorry for your loss of your dear Mom. Early days of loss and grief are the hardest. All you can do is take it one day at a time and know that others care. :flower3:

I just wanted to 2nd this  So sorry for your losses

Madameleota, I'm so sorry about your mom! And your brother. Thoughts and prayers coming your way, especially on Sunday. You really put things in perspective for me; I've been feeling all grumpy because we have so many things to do on Mother's Day for both our moms (and probably dh's grandma) that I was feeling forgotten. And I kept feeling guilty for feeling that way, but not anymore. Hugs to you and thanks for reminding me to even appreciate my MIL!

 I wish I had some words of comfort to offer. Losing a parent is very difficult and to lose your brother in the same year too, I just cannot imagine. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong. :flower3:

It's after 5 pm on a Friday!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I just got home and even though I desparately want pizza and beer for dinner I'm passing on the temptation.

I'm tempted to take this other job just on principal right now. :lmao: I don't get paid enough to work this late on a Friday.

I found the site they will be updating as time goes on.
http://foodwinefest.com/cms/

Under event schedule, Party for the Senses I found this:
"This popular venue takes place each Saturday during the Food and Wine Festival at the World ShowPlace located between Canada and United Kingdom Pavilions. You’ll begin this memorable evening with reserved seating at the 5:45pm performance of the Eat to the Beat Concert. $135 per person plus tax, gratuity included. (Park admission included)
From 6:30 to 9:00pm, you’ll be sampling the culinary creations of 25 renowned chefs and over 25 wineries and breweries. Each tasting station will be a new sensation for the senses."

So kids, we know they aren't planning to do something like the Bocuse again the first weekend. And at at least we know the price.
Stay tuned Food and Wine fans!!:cool1::cool1:

Bocuse is apparently every other year. They might have it next year. Maybe. If Disney will pay for it. There was probably some kind of tizzy because the chefs wanted to use foie gras.

Madameleota71,
I too am so sorry for the loss of you Mom. I also just lost my Mom. She passed away on November 12 just 6 days after her birthday. She had been diagnosed 3 weeks earlier with pancreatic cancer. It was a blessing that she didn't linger, but I feel like I needed more time to say good bye. Sunday will be difficult for me but we also had a new grandson born 9 days after my Mom's death. Life does go on.

TigerKat,
Thanks for the beautiful "Mother's Day" card. Happy Mother's Day to you and to every one here.

Madame Leota - I am so sorry I missed your post, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how it feels, I lost my Mom 2 yrs ago.

So sorry I posted a Mothers Day greeting at this awful time, I am very sorry.:sad1:

I do regret my artless use of the word like. I should have said similar as it would have made it more clear. I am aware of the schedule of the Bocuse d'Or. Before we leave that subject, for those who are interested here is a great article on the results:

My point was that Disney seems to have no intention of taking one of the Saturdays away from PTFS.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. That being counting the days until food and wine.:laughing:

I would just like to thank everybody for the kind words. What a great group of people we have here! I apologize for hijacking this thread and posting such a sad topic....but I would like you all to know that your kindness is appreciated.

:confused3 WHY? Why would you do that, Bendy?:guilty:

We had some delish baguette and Brie for dinner with some shrimp cocktail. And some beers.:rolleyes1

LOVE IT! It's cold, windy, and rainy here. I needed that! :thumbsup2

Re: cooking - my stove is out, and the fix-it guy couldn't fix-it. Apparently, it's an electrical problem, not an appliance problem. :scared1:
So.....I experimented by making homemade pizza dough and grilling it on my counter top "forman-like" grill. It actually was edible. I made mine BLT. Mmmmmm....

I've been walking this week, something I normally do not do. I HAVE to lose weight. Been trying to portion control also. (Ok, ok, the bacon was an indulgence. It was Friday. So sue me. LOL)
The bonus of all the walking is (hopefully) it will get me ready for Disney.

It's amazing how food porn can bring people together. ;)

Seriously, you don't need to apologize for anything ... there are no rules on this thread (at least not that I'm enforcing) so if you need or want to post something feel free. We care ... even if it is from a distance. :goodvibes

I'm trying to decrease in mass, Briarmom ... and beer and pizza will not help. And I didn't feel very well last night anyway - long week and some minor flares made me a cranky crohn. I went to bed early ... and dreamed of pizza and beer.

BTW ... I saw that you started a trippie and I am soooo happy! You write the best trip reports, evah!! :thumbsup2
