Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

I'm thinking bread pudding souffle with whiskey cream sauce (recipe courtesy of Commander's Palace).

The dessert sounds great, but you implied that you were doing the bottle of wine instead of spending the dough going out to eat. Now, knowing you.....there has to be something fabulous for dinner. Any idea as to the menu? Of course, there will be pics provided of the anniversary night right, uuhhhhh.....I mean of dinner of course!;)

So far I only know that we'll be having welsh rarebit for an appetizer and bread pudding souffle for dessert ... we haven't made up our minds about the rest yet. I now think that our menu is going to end up being a mish-mash of dishes from some of our favorite restaurants. We wanted to make a full Williamsburg tavern meal but we don't want to spend the whole day cooking, know what I mean?

I do have a recipe for crab bisque that I've been wanting to try ... that might be a good time for it.

And I promise to take pictures of all the food ... we've got a lot lined up for the next couple of weeks and that includes some new places for us and we're very excited.

Heh ... I guess I lied when I said I was out until Wednesday. I finished everything else up that I had to do so why not spend a bit more time here with my pals? :goodvibes

I'm still reading posts from Friday as I was away for the weekend. Sorry if I'm talking about things everyone has moved on from!!!

Brenda, I love a Mimosa.......................I think I will love one more with Grand Marnier. I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!!! The book (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) I've read reviews and am intriqued!!! I read almost anything.......please let me know what you think. Lastly, the second picture of the 2007 flowers. Was that suposed to be a spider? Wierd.....that's what I see! :confused3

Kubuki, Of course we want to see your pictures from Napa.....post away. Happy Birthday and GREAT HUBBY!

Good morning! Where'd everybody go? I have a car rental question--it is apparently quite a bit cheaper to rent a car away from LAX ($200 cheaper) than right at the airport, so I was thinking of just getting a cab to the nearest company that's not connected to the airport. Is this a good idea and will it be a hassle? Or, do you think Enterprise would pick us up at the terminal and take us to their offsite location? I am just determined not to pay $500 for a compact car for nine days! I don't even think our stuff and we would fit!

HEY! WOW! That is A LOT! You might ask Enterprise if they can pick you up. Most places today are hurting and will help anyway they can. You also can call direct and say this is the price you got quoted and can they beat it.
The area around LAX is not the best place to be wandering around so ask for your options. Also I have done Priceline but I don't know if they have an LAX options. Good Luck!

We go Wednesday for the Day to Napa - that is my actual Birthday. Jason works a lot in SF so we have Southwest tixs and can go!
Then Disneyland we will drive up Friday for the day! If anyone wants anything to be looked for besides recipes let me know!

Hey Chelsi! You share a bday with my son Drew. :cake: Another Earth Day birthday! Your plans sound great. I'll be thinking of all the fun your having as I sit through Drew's driving road test that day (biting my last nail).

There aren't any car rental pickups inside LAX. They're all away from the airport and must be accessed by shuttle. Do not know if Enterprise would drive your rental car to the airport for you to pick it up or not.

See, that's what I thought, that I don't want to be wandering around LA near the airport or even trying to drive through that mess. I haven't flown in there since I was a little girl because we started using John Wayne. Now that my aunt has moved, Burbank would actually be closer (and smaller and less scary) so I'm seriously thinking of just flying in there and paying a little extra. If I could get my cousin's wife to pick us up I could just rent a car in Simi Valley where we'll be staying. Dang it, I just need to go get a scratch off ticket and see if I can win enough for a limo!:rotfl:

Check Burbank, I just helped a friend plan a trip for a funeral this week and Burbank was much cheaper to fly into and get rental cars :thumbsup2

Allison ... Plankton does in fact do rides and I'll scare up some pictures of him doing just that. He's coming back to WDW this fall with us for a reunion of sorts so I anticipate that he will get into all kinds of trouble. :lmao:

Ohhh this could get interesting...

I can't for the life of me find that pina colada cake recipe, and it's annoying me so much since I know someone requested it here, and I want to add it to my recipe journal.

Does anyone know of any good like "comfort food" cookbooks. I've been cooking a bunch for my grandma, but most of my cookbooks are more gourmet, and she is more of a meat and potatoes type person, though she's not too picky.

I like a lot of the Southern Living recipes :thumbsup2

I have a quick drink report from this weekend, with a crazy beer that y'all just have to try!

The DGF and I dropped by a downtown brewery on Saturday for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Tyler's Taproom is a hopping place with about 3 locations in the area, a seasonal menu, about 60 beers on tap, and really good fried pickles. :goodvibes

I am pretty pedictable--I ordered a hard cider. Dry Blackthorn Cider to be exact. It's a very tasty british cider, but my favorite is still Strongbow. (I treated myself to a Strongbow tonight at yet another favorite watering hole downtown. $3 pints on Wednesdays! :woohoo:)

Heather went out on a limb and ordered a pint of Kasteel Rouge. This stuff is the Rosa Regale of beers! Kasteel Rouge is served in a goblet glass and pours dark maroon with pink foam on top. It's a Belgian ale that is brewed with cherries, aged for a year, and has 8.5% alcohol. Really interesting. A bit sweet, but definitely different!
