Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

check this out ... from the newest Williams Sonoma Catalogue:

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup - organic, premium-grade maple syrup is aged in 12-to-18 year bourbon casks. The result (according to the glossy propaganda that I'm drooling over) is richly aromatic with notes of butterscotch, vanilla, charred oak, and bourbon (without the alcohol).

16.2 ounce bottle = $28.

No booze in the syrup?

What's the fun in that? :rotfl2:

Seriously, this sounds really good ... and the marinade man said he thought it would probably taste pretty damn awesome on salmon or pork or maybe even fruit (with some alcoholic whipped cream).

:cloud9:

I am going to Las Vegas on March 7 and am looking into that prix fixe thing at the Wynn.

LOL... that is so funny as DH really wants me to buy that. He was highlighting everything in the catelog that we needed. LOL...

Doing the happy dance here! A few bottles of Bodega Norton Reserve Malbec 2006 showed up at our local vendor today. Now we have one for tonight, and one to save. Loved it at F&W, will be fun to enjoy it again!

We watched about 3 hours of No Reservations yesterday.
I LOVE the episode where he goes to Saudi,
and we were just mesmerized by his '06 trip to Beruit, when war broke out.

That Beirut show--what an experience Tony and those with him had. I was touched by the way the wonderful crew of the USS Nashville took care of the evacuees, from the tiniest to the most elderly.

The Saudi show was an eye opener for me. I was so glad I watched it.

Lately I've also really enjoyed his recent Chicago show, as well as his trip to Mexico with Carlos. Guess I'm a true blue fan, I watch my favorite episodes more than once.

We are big fans of No Reservations ... we used to watch A Cook's Tour when Bourdain was on the Food Network but it's easy to see why he needed to leave them for more ...ahem, creative freedom.

I thought the Beirut show was one of the best things he and his crew have done. They deserved an emmy for that one but I don't think they won.

We watch Tony's repeats all the time ... he's awesome! :thumbsup2

OK I know I said I would have some Aussie (and New Zealand) food porn.

Because I can't post 70 pictures, this is a link to a slideshow.

call me a slow poke..but i am JUST starting to get into No Reservations..they are FANTASTIC! i just saw the food porn one and the Chicago episode..i need to set a seasons pass on my DVR for those suckers!! He is really good at foodie journalism!! Do you have any of his books? i am very curious about them...ye olde borders may be calling my name ;)

OH side note..i am going to have to make a point to go back and re-read Gastropod for the blogs on Vegas..I think we will be stopping there for 3 days en route to Hawaii in October...just enough time to sleep, EAT at great places and catch a good show! :)

travelmel,I don't know what was up with me and that movie. I kept taking my glasses off and thinking I would like it better in 2D.:confused3 We loved Corpse Bride, I thought it would be similar.

I love sausage balls! I've never made them with celery, though, or onion. Just the bisquick, sausage and cheese. Your teeny, tiny pancakes look great--that's my kind of finger food!

Thanks! You are sweet to comment on my tiny cakes :goodvibes

You should try making your own syrup and putting in the booze. It's so easy... and tasty. And when I say easy I mean... YOU KNOW... REALLYYYYYY EASY.

I thought the Beirut show was such a great testament to what was happening over there.. Very good TV.

If it's not too early for some food and wine speculation:

I was looking around and thought it's possible some of these during the relevant dates might be eat to the beat bookings for 2009. (Go to page two, and scan to the bottom) Right now it's showing
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Starship, Taylor Dayne among others

I'm pretty sure I recognize some as WDW repeat performers.

I was really disappointed in 2007 when Three Dog Night wasn't playing at F&W ... I'd been trying to make it to one of their performances for years but we always just missed them.

Last year's lineup left both Jay and me cold ... we have a better musical experience passing gas in our vacation villa. :lmao:

Well, I bit the bullet and took up a local exercise place on their offer of a 12-week jazzercize / personal trainer program ($36 per month) ... I start on Monday and have to commit to three-days a week. I'll also get nutrition counseling ... :thumbsup2

I think at this point I need something to really kick-start my metabolism and I've just been unable to get motivated so far this year. It's been too easy to come home and drink alcohol laced coffee while typing reviews or playing with the wii.

Wish me luck ... I need to lose about 25 pounds by my birthday to be the hottest 40-year old Bendy I can be! :thumbsup2

Good luck Brenda! Personally, I'm a pro-exercise, anti-diet kinda gal. I hope the Jazzercize helps you kick those 25 pounds to the curb! ::yes::

NEVER!! I am always anxious for F&W info! Looks like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Starship for the dates I have tentatively set.... not sure what I think about that.

Good luck!! :cheer2: Totally relate to the lure of alcohol, DIS and the wii... evil. But so much fun!
