I called today to order a new TIW card ... the old ones expired and for a while we weren't sure if we were going to order new APs or not. So we did and I wanted the new discount card ... today they told me that you can't order it in advance any longer if you only have an exchange certificate ... that means when we turn in the exchange certificates we can then purchase a TIW card.
That's incidental ... what I was also told today is that their deadline to finalize programming for the F&W festival is August 1st. Take that for what it's worth but it's in keeping with the last few years, isn't it?
10 days to plan???
Again.![]()
Wow.. so on the TIW card we have to get it at WDW then when we buy or pass? That is not convenient at all!
UGH! Aug 1st!?! Again I am with you.. DVC asks us to plan our vacation 11 months in advance but yet we can't make hard plans on special events until 10 days out is not right! Thanks for the info Brenda!
I really wanted to get it out of the way early because we usually eat before we go to the parks, but now we have to figure out how to get to the front entrance of Epcot from the BCV in order to get our APs so that we can then get our TIW.
You can buy them both at International Gateway.![]()
Alison - Sending hugs to you and your mom. Hope the surgery went well!

You can buy the TIW at the Gateway? They(disney when we called) told us no last year! Thank you for telling me the real deal! This is why I love the DIS!![]()
I'm not messing with a TIW exchange certificate or anything like that. Mine expired in June and I will buy a new one when I'm there in August. It doesn't cost any extra to buy a new one at WDW so I will be doing that.
And yes, you can buy them at IG. You can buy them at any park Guest Services and they have one at IG. I have had one replaced at IG. Don't leave home without it.
I did see one report that they aren't putting them on special Tables in Wonderland card stock anymore - they look exactly like all the other park tickets with Disney scenes on them but say Tables in Wonderland (gaaak) on the back. Be careful when you're pulling out one to lay down that you don't give them your annual pass instead and make sure your servers see that you've got a TIW when you're ready to lay that discount down.
Of course they could have just run out of TIW card stock temporarily.
Yup. We just did it last year. We exchanged our DVC AP vouchers and bought our TIW card right at Guest Relations/International Gateway.![]()
what I want to know is what kind of recourse I have against a dealer that I think has deliberately messed up my car.
I've had this VW passat for six year and never had any trouble with it at all until I started taking it to this new VW dealership. The place I bought my car in 2003 is no longer in the VW business so I can't take it there for service. We've had all the recommended maintenance performed over the years and the car has been a dream until the last nine months when they started frigging with it.
They changed my oil at the end of May and now suddenly I have a part with a hole in it that was leaking oil all over the cooling system. So they "fixed" that and I picked my car up last night and all was right with the world.
Tried to drive to work this morning and the moment I accelerated on the highway the car began to shudder and felt like it was going to die right there on highway 70. I coaxed it ten miles to the dealership praying to the automotive gods that it wouldn't die on me because it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't start again.
So this morning they tell me the spark plugs are worn out and should be replaced every 40M miles. Funny, I responded ... you guys were supposed to have replaced then in December when I had my last tune up at 88M miles.
They didn't have an answer for that.
So I get to work at 10AM this morning and was releived that the car was running smoothly again ... until I tried to get gas this afternoon. It lasted all of two minutes in traffic before it started shaking and shuddering again.
I was furious.
Called Jay and asked him to pick me up when he left work. Called AAA to have the car towed to the dearlership (20+ miles from my office). Called the dealership and b ------ a storm.
I asked them to their faces this afternoon how I could ever have any level of comfort or confidence that my car was going to operate properly after they "fixed" it for the third time in one week and they just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language.
"we'll take care of it for you, don't worry."
What the hell does that mean? They're going to pour it into concrete like Jimmy Hoffa and bury it under a football goalpost???
At this point I'd just like them to fix it so that it runs long enough for me to get to another dealer and trade it in for a new car, which was not in the budget this year. But neither was paying for upwards of four F&W events.
End automotive rant.![]()
How frustrating for you! Well, the first thing I would do is tell them that if there is even one thing wrong with the car after this repair then they can bet they will be reported to the BBB, VW corporate, and your local newspaper and TV watchdogs. In this sort of situation, I find that mentioning how much the media loves stories about dealerships and repair shops that take advantage of women who need help, particularly in an economy like this, goes a very long way toward getting good service.
We did the 'Kobe' Beef Trio and Seasonal Wine Tasting Menu at Michael Mina's the last time we were in Vegas. It was to die for. >drool<
He has another restaurant in Mandalay Bay that I want to try next... STRIPSTEAK
it's all about the 'A5' Japanese Kobe... >drool<![]()
STRIPSTEAK has foie gras sliders
and plenty of non-beef choices on the menu - I am more into fish than meat.
