Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Happy birthday, Kathy!!! :cool1::cool1::banana::woohoo:

And Shenanigoat .... you weren't supposed to tell them about the goatee; that's a closely guarded secret. :rotfl2:

I called today to order a new TIW card ... the old ones expired and for a while we weren't sure if we were going to order new APs or not. So we did and I wanted the new discount card ... today they told me that you can't order it in advance any longer if you only have an exchange certificate ... that means when we turn in the exchange certificates we can then purchase a TIW card.

That's incidental ... what I was also told today is that their deadline to finalize programming for the F&W festival is August 1st. Take that for what it's worth but it's in keeping with the last few years, isn't it?

10 days to plan???

Again. :confused3

Wow.. so on the TIW card we have to get it at WDW then when we buy or pass? That is not convenient at all!

UGH! Aug 1st!?! Again I am with you.. DVC asks us to plan our vacation 11 months in advance but yet we can't make hard plans on special events until 10 days out is not right! :scared1:Thanks for the info Brenda!

Well, if you continuously renew your AP then you should be able to renew the TIW card by mail (we did that last year). BUT ... if it's your first time or if, like us, you let the APs and DDE expire, then you can't get your hands on it until you turn in the exchange certificates for the actual AP. At that time you can purchase the TIW.

I really wanted to get it out of the way early because we usually eat before we go to the parks, but now we have to figure out how to get to the front entrance of Epcot from the BCV in order to get our APs so that we can then get our TIW.

Kudos to WDW for not making anything easy after taking all our money. :lmao:

You can buy them both at International Gateway. :thumbsup2

Alison - Sending hugs to you and your mom. Hope the surgery went well!

Lori - Glad the LOVE code will work for you! :yay:

Happy Birthday Kathy! :cheer2:

You can buy the TIW at the Gateway? They(disney when we called) told us no last year! Thank you for telling me the real deal! This is why I love the DIS!

I'm not messing with a TIW exchange certificate or anything like that. Mine expired in June and I will buy a new one when I'm there in August. It doesn't cost any extra to buy a new one at WDW so I will be doing that.

And yes, you can buy them at IG. You can buy them at any park Guest Services and they have one at IG. I have had one replaced at IG. Don't leave home without it.

I did see one report that they aren't putting them on special Tables in Wonderland card stock anymore - they look exactly like all the other park tickets with Disney scenes on them but say Tables in Wonderland (gaaak) on the back. Be careful when you're pulling out one to lay down that you don't give them your annual pass instead and make sure your servers see that you've got a TIW when you're ready to lay that discount down.

Of course they could have just run out of TIW card stock temporarily.

I remembered someplace else that we've been talking about want to try--Michael Mina's.
(When you go to the link, click on menu. His tasting menus are included there.)

We did the 'Kobe' Beef Trio and Seasonal Wine Tasting Menu at Michael Mina's the last time we were in Vegas. It was to die for. >drool<

He has another restaurant in Mandalay Bay that I want to try next... STRIPSTEAK
it's all about the 'A5' Japanese Kobe... >drool< :cloud9:

Happy Birthday Kathy :goodvibes

Alison- Hope your mom is feeling better soon

Brenda- I hope your car gets fixed soon. I would be mad too if I spent that much money and it still didnt work.

Yup. We just did it last year. We exchanged our DVC AP vouchers and bought our TIW card right at Guest Relations/International Gateway. :goodvibes

EDIT - Oh! I almost forgot! I found this link to AirTran $25 vouchers yesterday...

AirTran $25 Vouchers

It's a deal AirTran has with the Florida Tourism Board and the vouchers are good for travel to Florida up to December 18th. You can use one voucher per person, per flight. You would need to use a different email address to get each voucher. I already had my August airfare booked, but I was able to use these vouchers for our seat assignments... and will use more if we get to book a quickie October trip... (I haven't given up hope yet)

Have a great night!

UGH! I hope it's going to be the TWI stock when I get one! One too many glasses of wine and I will be handing my pass to the restaurant and trying to get into Epcot with TIW!

This info makes it all so much easier! :yay: Thank you!
Also! Micheal Mina is one I always want to do ... yummmm!

what I want to know is what kind of recourse I have against a dealer that I think has deliberately messed up my car.

I've had this VW passat for six year and never had any trouble with it at all until I started taking it to this new VW dealership. The place I bought my car in 2003 is no longer in the VW business so I can't take it there for service. We've had all the recommended maintenance performed over the years and the car has been a dream until the last nine months when they started frigging with it.

They changed my oil at the end of May and now suddenly I have a part with a hole in it that was leaking oil all over the cooling system. So they "fixed" that and I picked my car up last night and all was right with the world.

Tried to drive to work this morning and the moment I accelerated on the highway the car began to shudder and felt like it was going to die right there on highway 70. I coaxed it ten miles to the dealership praying to the automotive gods that it wouldn't die on me because it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't start again.

So this morning they tell me the spark plugs are worn out and should be replaced every 40M miles. Funny, I responded ... you guys were supposed to have replaced then in December when I had my last tune up at 88M miles.

They didn't have an answer for that.

So I get to work at 10AM this morning and was releived that the car was running smoothly again ... until I tried to get gas this afternoon. It lasted all of two minutes in traffic before it started shaking and shuddering again.

I was furious.

Called Jay and asked him to pick me up when he left work. Called AAA to have the car towed to the dearlership (20+ miles from my office). Called the dealership and b ------ a storm.

I asked them to their faces this afternoon how I could ever have any level of comfort or confidence that my car was going to operate properly after they "fixed" it for the third time in one week and they just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language.

"we'll take care of it for you, don't worry."

What the hell does that mean? They're going to pour it into concrete like Jimmy Hoffa and bury it under a football goalpost???

At this point I'd just like them to fix it so that it runs long enough for me to get to another dealer and trade it in for a new car, which was not in the budget this year. But neither was paying for upwards of four F&W events.

End automotive rant. :scared:

STRIPSTEAK has foie gras sliders

and plenty of non-beef choices on the menu - I am more into fish than meat.

:bday: Kathy party:

Allison, hope your mom's surgery went well :flower3:

Brenda, OY VEY :headache: I don't know what else to say, but I'm sorry you're going through this

How frustrating for you! Well, the first thing I would do is tell them that if there is even one thing wrong with the car after this repair then they can bet they will be reported to the BBB, VW corporate, and your local newspaper and TV watchdogs. In this sort of situation, I find that mentioning how much the media loves stories about dealerships and repair shops that take advantage of women who need help, particularly in an economy like this, goes a very long way toward getting good service.

Thanks to all the friendies for the birthday wishes!!!!:thumbsup2

Brenda - I know how frustrated I get dealing with car repairs and I've never had to deal with what you have.

That's a great suggestion - thanks very much.

I had to take a look at that menu, and I think I found the BIRTHDAY MEAL!
:banana::banana::banana::banana:

But I have to ask you as a fellow Midwesterner who loves her cow products:
Which of the Japanese A5 steaks would you get? The NY strip or the filet? And I shudder to ask what Market Price means on those steaks. :scared1: But as I only turn 40 once, I will get one of them. I usually lean towards a filet, but I wanted your thoughts.

You must have read my mind! I saw the foie gras sliders and just knew I had to eat there on my birthday. I also noticed they had a TON of items on this menu I know you'd like, so you can indulge my beef-y cravings at this place. I totally want to make a reservation there, NOW.

Sheesh, Brenda! I hope you take Heather's advice to get that dealer to get your car fixed PRONTO!
